Pretty sure archery comes under the warrior stone?
Nope.

But it does say that those three stones are the only instance in which Archery is not considered a Warrior ability, despite it being put in that category. I had to google it to make sure before I chose it.

Heh, well that's a confusing one. Understandable though, I stand corrected :)

Also, I'm liking the sound of this build, I can really imagine shooting through a wall of flames, piles of draugr dead at your feet. Looks bada** in my head lol.

A bit out of date posting here, but I've been playing a build that uses archery much more aggressively in combat than the traditional sneak build and I thought I'd offer some thoughts.

Here is a build I came up with for this sort of magic boosted archery playstyle: Skyrim Perk Calculator - Plan the perks for your Skyrim character before spending them!

I selected destruction and the magic of choice, though personally I think shock in better because there are so few resistant enemies. The extra damage from flames is nice but if you are only hitting them a few times it won't stack that high. Frost adds a slow effect, but the slow poison from alchemy is not limited by frost resistance.

I know your build focuses on setting up a static fire position, but I think the beauty of archery is in mobility. My build is for a Breton, and would call for Agent of Mara and Lord Stone attributes to help get magic resistance up to the 85% cap. Light armor and a 3:1 stamina:health point selection ratio will keep you mobile while firing. The Gaulder Amulet would be excellent for this build with its boost to all 3 stats. I selected Steel Smithing with the intent of using a Hunting Bow. It has very low base damage, but with the smithing/enchanting/alchemy you could still reach reasonable levels, and with a draw speed of ~1.2 after Quick Shot you would maximize the number of hits (i.e. number of chances to stagger, amount of magic damage inflicted).

Alchemy would be the key to this build. Poisons for Slow, Damage Health, and Weakness to Fire would be useful against most enemies, again making the speed of the bow more important than its physical damage output. Fortify Marksman, Fortify Health/Health Regen and Fortify Destruction would be used in combat to boost damage output and aid survival.

Once you get Power Shot and Quick Shot, however, you should be able to win most fights. A highly mobile archer can simply outrun melee enemies, and with high magic resistance you will only have to worry about getting cornered or getting shot by another archer. You can plan elaborate set pieces for fighting a dungeon boss, but that won't help when you can ambushed by a sabre cat or a bear and your level 30 heavy armor reduces damage by only 25% and slows you down so you can't escape or get a shot off.

Sneak archery and magic tank archery both miss the best thing about the skill: with draw speed of 1.2, 400 stamina, and a host of archery enchants and useful potion/poisons, you just can't be touched.

ok, I know this is old, but I found this thread via google, looking things up for my own Demonhunter.

first off, there isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play I believe. It's not a team game, it's a single player immersive RPG.

for example, I created a character that I believe Crookskin would feel has no point or purpose in Skyrim. My character Broc.

now for roleplaying sake, his "glass" armor, while being a Nord, at Kodlak's funeral is a wee bit out of place. But even at level 24, he was very capable and viable.
Two-handed Greatsword
Light Armor
Smithing
Enchanting

at 24, that's literally where all his perks went. Now he's a OMGLEVEL 108 Paladin, but that's neither here nor there.

Trick with Broc was simple - don't get hit, dodge and avoid, use the light armor to its advantage, and lop heads off! :D And he does it so purdy too.
and his health? I capped it at 200. Everything went into Stamina past that, until about level 80 or so, I made him a true Paladin with Resto skills and gave him some Magicka. By the time I fought Alduin with Broc, he was level 45 - 200 health, 450 stamina, level 80 two-handed, level 45 light armor (note the low number, he didn't get hit alot) and he literally dropped Alduin like a bag of rocks.

and my Demonhunter?
I use runes as my "melee." :D Melee beasty charges in on me, I drop a rune, and keep running. :D It's wicked entertaining, and I've gotten really good at knowing my surroundings, and running backwards :D I feel like I'm in hockey or football again lol
