Who knew you could ever be bored on a game that's near to impossible to complete? I sure didn't -_-

I was playing pretty heavily this past week, but grew tired of it suddenly. It's something that comes and goes. You can either walk away for awhile or perhaps try a different type of character. I honestly believe that once you're hooked on Skyrim you never truly get bored/tired of it.

For me it happens with all games. More so for other titles but I do get tired of Skyrim but I always comeback to it. I recently started Assassin's Creed (Ezio's story only) play through. That's 3 games of one my favorite video game characters and I got bored on the first one (AC2) and finished Deadpool (which I started 3 months ago but never finished it) so yeah it happens to everyone and with every game.;)

I take breaks of a few weeks up to a month or two when I start feeling disinterested and then when I finally do pick it up again, I get re-addicted quite quickly. It's almost like when you first started playing it and couldn't stop.

Quick follow up question:

Did anyone else stop playing very quickly after you just started because you thought it was an okay game but not that great just to pick it up again a few weeks later and instantly get completely hooked?

I ask because the friends I have that have put a whole lot of hours in playing all had the exact same scenario when picking it up the first time I did.

For your follow up question: I actually loved skyrim when I started. There was so much to explore, so much to do. I would roleplay and stuff, I loved illusion magic

I had that happen to me with Morrowind for my XBox I don't know how many moons ago. I got it from a friend and when I played it, I didn't love it. I played for a few days and eventually shelved it. Then at some point later I decided to play it and really enjoyed it. I still didn't play it anywhere near as much as Skyrim or, more within the same time period as Morrowind, BioWare's Knights of the Old Republic. I spent soo much of my life playing KOTOR. Hell, I still have it on my PC even though I haven't played in a long while.

My guess on my original reaction to it is that one of the greatest features of the game is its massive expanse both of its physical world and its overall scope. You get an idea it's pretty large, but you really don't have a full understanding of that until you get into the game a bit.

After playing the game for so many hours I did get bored with it. Just picked it up two days ago after not touching it for a year, I was rewatching lord of the rings and it made me want to play it again.

I get that way with many games. I'll play something for hours and hours and then get bored, or I'll finish it and not want to start again. Sometimes you just need to take a break from it for a while and then when you come back, it's interesting again. Sometimes I don't wanna start a game again because it's too hard to pick up where you left off if you haven't played for months, or it's too annoying to start another new character. But taking a break is always good. :)

Bad to the Dragonbone.
This is my third comeback to the game with well over 1000 hours under my belt. I go through phases. I look for games with a high level of replay value and Skyrim delivers. I know that it won't last forever but I feel like I got my money's worth and then some.

Take a break. Try a different character. Try a different style of play. Skyrim is a great game for the vast number of ways it can be played. I chuckle at the folks over on the GTA 5 forums that think GTA 5 is the ultimate in free roam. I don't care if GTA defined the genre. I haven't sunk half as many hours into it as I have Skyrim. Maybe I'm biased because this is a fantasy game and I <3 fantasy more than any other setting. But it FEELS more diverse than any other similar game I've played due to the sheer number of different styles of play. I may lose interest but I know that as long as my xbox continues to work, I'll come back to it again.

I wish. I barely ate, moved or slept for the 1st 2weeks. Everyone thought I was depressed (I had just lost my job), little did they know I was far from sad! I think if i'd have stayed in bed any longer I would have gotten bed sores, It was horrible!

The next 2months were almost as bad but Id at least get up to get a sandwich or something. I really started to get the feeling that I was wasting my life and had to snap out of it though.

Nowadays I'll sit down and play maybe 3hours a row everyday for maybe a week. Than I'll just suddenly lose interest, only to pick up were I left off after 2 or 3weeks. But the biggest amount of time Iv had off Skyrim is 6weeks...

I'm here to put a fly in your ointment. I stopped playing Skyrim about 2 months ago and though I love the game and still like to discuss it from time to time, I'm positive I won't be playing Skyrim again. Every now and again I'll talk my daughter through a quest, but that's about it. I keep waiting for the desire to come back but every time I think about starting a new build, my inner child responds by saying: "Ugh... god no please..."

Ever? That seems a bit harsh. But you are right. I am getting tired of it after a year and may move on to Dragon Age, Dragon's Dogma or even Assassin's Creed (I haven't even made it through 3). I really do need to branch out one of these days.

Probably the only thing that will pry me away permanently (or really close) will be TES VI whenever that comes out.

Other than that, a few weeks away and I'm interested in messing around in Skyrim again on some level
