As the rest of the group poured into the large room at the top of the staircase, Michael hung back and observed the massive spider. "That thing is huge. What did it eat over the years to grow that big? Falmer?" he thought to himself. He moved closer as the rest of the group began to tangle with the beast.

Michael observed how the spider moved as if he was in love with it. Gazing at how gracefully it moved for it's size, but that was short lived as he saw the spider spit poison at Duva, blinding her and grabbing Tappit and tossing him aside like a rag doll. "Tch!" he clenched his fists in anger. Not wanting to give away his position just yet, he fought the urge to rush in and help. Seeing as Rath quickly ran to Tappit's side, Michael was slightly relieved but even then the spider had Rath in his sights. Trying to pull Tappit away from the spider, Rath seemed to have injured his leg. In an attempt to get the spider away, Rath threw what seemed to be a bottle at the spider, which erupted in flames as soon as it landed near it's feet. The spider ran around shrieking in pain for a short time. Thankfully Geminus, stepped in and took the heat away from the two. Banging his sword against his shield, the spider turned his attention towards him.

He wasted no time and charged the spider with his shield raised causing it to stagger, then ducking under it and stabbing upwards into it's stomach. Jumping back the spider spit poison towards him, but Geminus quickly raised his sheild. Wasting no time, the spider closed the gap between the two and prepared to attack. Geminus lowered his sheild and saw the spider about to strike, but he bashed one of the spiders legs causing it to stagger, then he spun around and hacked off the leg. "No hesitation...impressive." Shrieking in pain the spider backed off for a moment.

Michael look back over at Duva who had been blinded by the spiders poison. Bryun went over and handed her what seemed like a a pouch of water. While she poured it over her eyes, Bryun unsheathed his blade and rushed and joined the fray. He leaped into the air, casting a lightning spell on his own blade, then stabbing the spider in the back. "I've never seen that before..." Electricity poured out of the blade and into the spider as blood flowed out. The spider spazzed around in agony, swinging Bryun around as he tried to hold on, but he was flung against the bottom of the stairs. Michael watched as Bryun flew right past him. The wind had been knocked out of him.

Michael rushed over to Bryun. He was still breathing but he had been banged up by the fall. "Bryun! Are you ok?! Here take these when you're able" Michael reached into his satchel and pulled out a health potion and a stam potion and placed them at his side. "We'll take it from here". Not being able to resist any longer, he made his way to the top of the stairs. Duva had rushed over to heal Tappit's wound, and Geminus was treating Rath's leg. Michael walked over and handed some cure posion potions and healing potions he had made the night they came to Markarth. "This should be able to cure Tappit's wounds" He looked over as the spider began to gain control of it's senses again.

Michael pulled out two blue flasks from his satchel and tossed it to Rath. "Use whatever you need" he said as he walked toward the center of the room. He removed the corks from the flasks and bit the tops of the flasks and held them in his mouth. Reaching the center of the large room, Michael charged fireball's in each hand and threw multiple shots at the spider. The spider shrieked in pain and turned to face him. He kept up the barrage as the spider charged towards him. Nearly out of magika, a fireball spell died out in his right hand. The spider closed in, but Michael held his ground. He cocked his head back and drank the two vials he was biting, then spit them out. His magika instantly restored and his magika regeneration was nearly doubled. He glanced over at the nearby Andante, and signaled her to get ready.

Michael brought both of his hands together and poured all of his magika into this next spell. The large rooms temperature fell rapidly as the moisture was drained from it. The spider closed in and bared it's fangs as it was about to strike, but Michael released the spell a moment before the fangs reached him. "Icy Spear!" A large shard of solid ice formed in Michael's hands and flew towards the spider which grazed it's body but sliced off the front and the 2nd leg on it's right side. Shrieking in extroardinary pain, the spider fell forward as it's remaining legs couldn't support it's weight. Turning to look over at where Andante was, Michael yelled "Andante! Now!"

Andante took a few steps back as her eyes caught sight of the massive creature lowering itself into the cavern. It dangled precariously above the the cavern for a moment, hesitating with its massive legs outstretched, before dropping to the stone floor with a dull, resonating thud. In all of her lifetime spent amongst creatures of the wild, she'd encountered a fair number of spiders to say the very least, but even she doubted her own eyes at the sight of the beast before her. The many massive black eyes glistened faintly in the dim light of the cavern, but she had a feeling the great spider didn't need to see them to know where they were. They had trespassed on her domain and, despite them, she could sense their fear.

Glancing around she noticed her companions had wasted no time in scattering to more easily defensible positions, and with little thought she did the same. Ducking suddenly to avoid a broad sweep of the spider's long, front legs she disappeared into the shadows and readied her bow with a single quick, fluid motion; waiting for just the right opening. Just as she was sure she found it, she was caught off guard by Tappit's sudden, rhythmic lute playing. She watched him carefully for a moment, muttering something incoherent. Chanting almost is what it sounded like to her ears, before the beast descended upon him and felled him in a single swipe sending his body a great distance across the cavern. She spat in disgust, looking back toward the spider her attention turned toward Duva who stumbled back as she took a spurt of venom to the face, crying out in pain.

In that moment, Andante saw her opportunity and let loose an arrow that buried itself deep within one of the glassy orbs of the spider's orbit. It let out a sharp, brief screech of pain but seemed otherwise unfazed until...whatever it was Rath had in his hand burst into flames at its feet. The strong stench of scorched hair and flesh filled the cramped cavern as the fire died down, overpowering, and dulling her senses with a nauseating strength. Coughing slightly, she reached for another arrow and readied her sights just in time to see Geminus, in an impressive feat of skill and strength, hack into one of the spider's hind legs, staggering it for a moment. She released another arrow that ricocheted off the spiny exoskeleton of the spider's back and clattered pathetically to the floor.

Reaching for another arrow she hesitated, hand hovering above her quiver as she watched Bruynzeel's impressive attack. She'd never seen a sword with an enchantment quite like his, and was mesmerized by it equally as much as his impressive skill. She winced in shock as the spider recovered from his assault and sent him flying with relative ease, and nocked another arrow; crouched, she stalked carefully along the edge of the high landing. She saw Michael run to the aid of the others, and took the opportunity to sink a few more arrows into the beast.

With quick precision she managed to lodge the arrow narrowly between the monstrosity's dripping pincers, yet again leaving her unfazed and menacing. She dropped her bow, cursing out loud in anger, and drew both of her swords in one skillful motion and readied them against the form of the beast now turning its attention to Michael as he pulled away from the injured and turned his attention back to the fight. She watched him carefully, unsure of what he might attempt and was staggered as he formed a massive spear of ice that powered toward the spider, severing a few limbs and reducing her to a screeching tangle of flailing legs writhing on the cavern floor. She turned to look at Michael in silent awe, locking eyes with him just as he called out to her...she nodded in solemn understanding.

In an incredible feat even she would not have imagined she could perform, she leapt from her high perch on the high staircase landing and landed squarely on the spider's back. The beast shuddered in panic as she did so, and Andante crouched low to maintain her balance. She raised the sword first in her left hand, Håkon, and came down on the creature with an icy blow. She screeched in agony, her pained screams echoing off the crumbling stone walls and resonating in deafening echoes. The spider reared slightly on her crippled legs throwing Andante forward slightly so that her stomach lay across the beast's head. Dropping Håkon in the struggle she wrapped her hand firmly around the arrow still embedded in the spider's eye for stability and raising her other sword, Renonna, plunged it into the creature just behind her head. The flame enchantment of the blade went to work searing the great creature's flesh as she roared in agony and sent Andante flying as she wallowed in throes of pain.

She landed a short distance away, the bone in her upper right arm gave way toward the middle with a clearly audible, sickening crush as her body collided limply with the edge of the stairway. Clutching her useless arm she turned around to see what remained of the spider, nearly motionless now, it's pincers and ruined front legs scratching pathetically for the strength to stand and fight for her life again, but it was clear she was defeated. Managing to stand, she approached the spider confidently, but cautiously and looked upon her almost with a sense of pity and remorse. The dying creature hissed softly in protest, painfully aware of her own vulnerability.

"Now, now..." Andante raised a hand, as if trying to console the giant spider in her last moments of life. In a last attempt to save what bit of life she had left in her, the spider reared back her head and spat a viscous glob of venom at Andante's face, splattering her flesh and into her open mouth. Her expression turned more grave and her words became quick, and incomprehensible. Strangely, as she grew closer, the massive black eyes rolled back in their sockets and the spider became calm as her ragged breaths began to slow. "...be at peace." The last of her words were clear enough to echo about the cavern. Unsheathing the dagger at her hip, she buried it between the two largest and prominent eyes, effectively quelling her.

She turned away from the pitiful sight of the dead creature and defiantly spat out the mouthful of venom, wiping away the rest from her face and neck with the back of a trembling, yet careless hand. She stood motionless and silent for a moment, before she collapsed to her knees, cluthing her crippled arm in agony, though her eyes glanced around the dimly lit cavern for signs of her companions.

In all her travels she has never seen something like this, the way the group assembled to take the spider out was epic, glancing around looking at each of her companions glad to see that each one is still breathing and alive, sighed in relief "Is everyone OK? Tappit?" shakes him seeing that he is still breathing, gets a small smile across her face, looks over her shoulder at Andante seeing her grip her arm "Rath or Michael you two ok? And can one of you two look at Andantes arm? Geminus you ok?" gets up and walks over to Bruynzeel kneels next to him "Bruyn?" shakes him slightly "Hey Bruyn you ok kittie?"

Turning to see the latest commotion the spider was causing, he saw Andante finish off the spider and then walk up to it and seemingly pet the beast and over the din of other noise in the cavern he heard her say "...be at peace." "A strange thing to say to a beast that just tried to wipe us out." he thought to himself. At Duva's mention of her arm and his name, Geminus replied, "I'm fine no cuts or bruises and nothing a bit of water and a rag can't clean up," looking at the front of his shield at the spider spittle. "Andante, I can mend that arm if you'll permit me?"

"If tears could build a stairway
    and thoughts a memory lane
I'd walk right up to heaven
    and bring you home again

    No time to say good-bye
You were gone before I knew it
And only the nines knows why.

My heart's still active in sadness
    And secret tears still flow
What it meant to lose you
    No one can ever know.

But now I know you want us
To mourn for you no more
To remember all the happy times
Life still has much in store.

    Since you'll never be forgotten
    I pledge to you today
A hallowed place within my heart
    Is where you'll always stay.

The nines knows why, with chilling touch,
Death gathers those we love so much,
And what now seems so strange and dim,
Will all be clear, when we meet them.

I Knew you for a Moment"

Dazed from the tossing he dreams... but is brought back to realization from Duvaindes, voice and shaking. Immediately sends out his feelings to find all the group and to sense if they are still in danger. Sensing no danger he then focuses on his companions, Tappit unconscious but being tended to, Duvaindes recovering her sight, Rathalos legs broken but surprisingly already set and recovering, then he comes to Andante and springs up waving Geminus over, and rushes to her side and states "Her arm is broken in two places."

Then as he starts to take care of her he walks over and says to the ancient spiders corpse, "I am sorry old one, that we had to end your life." and then with as much respect as he can offer retrieves his and Andante's swords from the magestic creatures form.

"I'm fine" Limps on the first step. "Just need to walk it off."
Rath looks around at his companions. "Good hunt! Haha was a thrill, at least no one got terribly wounded."
Rath walks to the spider. "You my freind, are one hell of a opponent. I'll be looking forward to our next battle." He turns to walk away but stops himself mid turn. "Only this time. no cheap shots."

Rath walks over to the steps, sits down and clasps his hands together while closing his eyes. "Thank you." He whispers to himself. Raising his head but not opening his eyes he declares. "I suggest we camp here for... A while.. Unless you want to continue?"

Watching as Andante finished the beast off, Michael knelt down on one knee while his magika recovered. He watched as Andante said some last words to spider. "Be at peace..." "Mercy for one's opponent even in death... truly noble". Hearing Duva call out to check on the group, Michael turned to respond. "I'm fine. Just a little exhausted from that last spell..." Turning back over to get a look at Andante's wounds, he could see that Bryun had already gotten to her requesting Geminus's aid. Duva walked over and grabbed him by the shoulder. "Hmm?" puzzled by the name she had refered to him as, he sank into thought for a moment. "Eraisuithon... "Who is like God?" The old elven translation for Michael..." Turning to face Duva and ask about the name, he left the subject for later. "When we get out of here I'll be more then happy to teach you a spell or two." Michael walked over to Rath to check up on him and Tappit. "Camp out here? I'm not against the idea seeing as half the group is injured."

Tappit woke with a fuzzy and fragmented recollection of events, and to the mutterings of the others.
His arm had been injured, it ached deeply...he rolled to his side and used his good arm to hoist himself into a sitting position. He held out his bandaged arm, turning it over, clenching and unclenching his fist. He pinched at the edge of the wrappings and lifted the bandage to peak at the wound...it was sealed closed by burning.

Tappit turned his attention to his surroundings. The others were either injured or attending to the injured. Nimhe lay dead...viscous black venom was spattered about in trails and arrows littered the cold stone floor.
He stood, nearly slipping in his own blood which had puddled about him. His boot caught purchase as he steadied himself against the wall sipping shallow breaths as his focus returned. Back hurt, arm hurt, vision a little blurry...but not dead.

He walked slowly over to the giant, but fortunately, dead spider...measuring it's size by sight and watched Bruynzeel pull the swords free, he nodded to him and the gesture was returned. Bruynzeel headed toward Andante who was nursing her arm and Geminus crouching next to her.

He looked over at the stairs where the other three congregated. Rathalos sat on the steps looking a little pale which was difficult to do with Michael standing nearby. Duvaindes stood next to Michael, they all spoke in hushed tones considering stealth was no longer required.

Tappit pulled free his final bottle of brandy from his day satchel, uncorked and tipped a little of the contents on the floor in front of Nimhe, never removing his eyes from the giant spider. "Nimhe huh?" He took a swig from the bottle and then wiped his lips dry with his sleeve. He turned away from the giant spider and walked directly underneath the opening of the tunnel to where Nimhe's nest resided and looked up into the web covered cavity. He could make out what looked like a couple of corpses netted in silk...but nothing more than that.

Tappit joined the other 2 crouching next to Andante "hey...are you ok?" he quickly took another swig and then held the bottle out to Andante.

"Sounds like a plan Michael....Well I wouldn't say camp out..we aren't that far from the inn, maybe just sit and relax and let us all gather back our strength before moving on" wonders around the place collecting items that can be burned, and starts making a nice size camp fire, looks down, holds her hands out and conjures up some flames and hits the stuff up, sending it up in ablaze "Well... fires ready and Im just going to go look for more stuff to burn" heads off to gather more items

Then searches the body, finds the key to the next set of doors. And a journal detailing just how prepared they were. Calcelmo will have to answer for this and the last expedistions fates.

Turns to see the other setting up the campsite. "Good,we need to recover from our wounds. This is as good a spot as any behind is explored and safe, before us is barred by the door I just found the key to."

Returns down the steps and approaches, Andante "Your sword, how are you?" With genuine concern and caring evident in his tone.

At Bruynzeel's urging he slung his shield on his back and went over to Andante who was kneeling on the floor. Kneeling down next to her, he removed his helmet setting it on the ground next to them and as gently as he could lifted her injured arm with both hands, he inspected it and found the breaks, "This is going to hurt a little," he tried to sound reassuring and smiled at her, he knew that comment almost always didn't help. "Okay, going to start the spells now, brace yourself." With that he started the incantations for healing others. A golden glow formed around his hands and her arm, there was a muted "snap" of a sound as the bones were reset and were mended back together. Shortly the glow disappated and he laid her arm in her lap. "You're going to be tender for a few hours and probably have a nice bruise on your arm, but you'll be able to use it without a problem in a matter of minutes."
He picked up his helmet and stood up, offering her a hand and helping her up as well.

At the mention of setting up a camp he thought it wasn't really needed since they'd just started out an hour or two ago, unless time slipped past him faster than he thought. Seeing the others setup a fire though, he figured it probably wouldn't hurt for a few hours, as it would allow the healed to gather strength and any remaining toxins to disappate. "I'll take watch at this entrance for more spiders." He said as he pointed towards the way they came in and donned his helmet.

"Aye." Rath walks over to Tappit. "Ya okay old man?" Rath chuckles slightly coughing in the middle. "Bleh this air isnt good for my lungs. It's suprisingly humid. I wonder why?"
Returning to subject Rath sits down by the fire and begins to sharpen his dagger.
"You saved my life... Thanks I am in your debt."
    Rath looks up at Tappit.
"I don't think we've formally met. I mean you know my name but nothing of who I am."
    Rath sighs.
    "Later..... We will talk. Later"
Rath lays back putting his bag under his head and falls asleep

Andante let out a sigh of relief as the empty cavern soon filled with the sounds of shuffling movement and hushed voices. Discerning them all in turn, without looking up she managed a soft smile despite the throbbing pain in her arm, and the fear that one of them might have been lost in the commotion subsided. Her head raised quickly as she heard her name and saw Geminus approaching, concern in his eyes, and Bruynzeel not far behind.

"N-no...I think..." Hesitantly she tried to move her crippled arm, as Geminus offered healing, and Bruynzeel insisted it was broken, and the bone gave another audible crack. She doubled over again, clutching it tightly with her other hand. "Gah!" Her eyes watered with the effort, and she let out a small sound of amusement, scoffing a bit at herself. "I will trust you then, to undo the damage."

As Geminus knealt by her side and began to examine her arm, she saw Tappit approach. Relieved to see him awake and walking, almost unfazed, that she couldn't stifle a crooked, halfhearted smile as she caught sight of the uncorked liquor in his hand; already back to himself so quickly.

"I do think I'll live." She said in a strained sort of voice as Geminus loosened her gloves to get a better look at her injured arm. She was never one to enjoy alcohol casually, but as she heard him say "This is going to hurt a little," their eyes met briefly and though his smile reassured her, she reached for the brandy in Tappit's outstretched hand and took a deep drink. "...very well."

The warm glow of the healing spell was relaxing at first, and dulled the pain slightly. Though, as the splintered bone began to slip back into place she cringed a bit, sloshing a bit of alcohol onto the floor; she held her breath waiting for him to finish. As the warmth of the spell began to fade, the pain subsided a bit leaving behind a dull sort of throbbing, but one she'd certainly take over the pain before. She took his hand and got to her feet, and stretched her newly healed arm, flexing a few times to ensure the healing was complete; the bone and muscle creaked with the effort, like breaking in new leather. "I thank you."

She looked over to the others, recovering slowly as well. She wondered just how much time had passed since they disappeared into the ruins, but so far underground she could only hazard a guess. With a pat on the shoulder she handed Tappit back his flask of brandy, and turned to take her weapons back from Bruynzeel as he approached. "...as I said before, I think I'll live." Her eyes examining her sword as she wiped it clean on the leg of her armor, not looking up.

The creases on tappit's brow still showed concern but he gave Andante a smile as she returned the brandy. He offered the bottle to Bruynzeel and looked over his shoulder at Duvaindes collecting debris for a fire "Would you like some help, Duvaindes?". Although the injuries ached deeply, his blood was running high and he needed to busy himself.

Rathalos had expressed his desire to talk a few things out, that'd be beneficial. Rathalos was correct, he hardly knew him at all...However, for the time being Rathalos had clearly needed a little rest. Tappit turned his attention back to Duvaindes.

Tappit raised an eyebrow at Duvaindes' comment, if she'd thought it was hot in here then why was she collecting firewood?. He shook his head and chuckled. "Ayuh. I saw structural beams broken and dislodged amongst some rubble in the previous corridor" Tappit lightly claps Bruynzeel on the shoulder, he gives Andante a nod and leaves the company of the two, headed for the hallway.
"I'll need your help lifting, if that's ok?" he admitted to Duvaindes whilst pressing the hand from his good arm to his lower back. His injuries were going to be a burden for the time being, but he'd make do as best as possible. He winked at her and flashed a smile "Come on then, let's get to making it hotter in here so you make sense". Tappit passed Geminus as he wandered back through the doorway and gave him a friendly nudge "nice work with the..." he held his hands up and wiggled his fingers "t'was very impressive, sai Geminus" he smiled back as he went about his work.

The mumbles from behind Geminus' helmet sounded, well...muffled...but at ease. He mocked a slight bow, drawing his hand arm across his belly and nodding to the heavily armoured Geminus.

Tappit snorted at the comment from Duvaindes. "Well actually, it smarts something awful" he bends over and points back at his hind-quarters "If you'd kiss it better then that'd be just fine" he grinned back at Duvaindes while clutching both of his hands together and holding them to the side of his face, dramatically fluttering his eyelids at her.
