I've recently gotten the Hearthfire add on for Skyrim, and I'm stuck. Not literally.. I just need to make a choice. I know I don't like the plot of land in Falkreath.. I think it's a bit to happy for my character (vampire). I just don't know if I want to settle down in the Pale or Morthal. I really like the idea of having a fish hatchery by the mountains in the snow, also by the water.. but I like the area more in the Pale. Also, on my other account, I settled down in Lakeview Manor, but I didn't know what rooms I wanted. So, if you'd answer a few questions..

1.) Heljarchen Hall, Windstad Manor, or Lakeview Manor?

2.) Should I choose the Family Bedroom, or the Greenhouse?

3.) Storage Room, or Trophy Room?

4.) In the upstairs area of the main hall, you are given the option of having one or two twin beds. Is there a reason for the second bed, or should I just not make it?

5.) If I were to live at Windstad Manor, what type of fish is best to put in the hatchery?

Thank you for your time and words.

...alright, here we go :)

1.) Heljarchen Hall, Windstad Manor, or Lakeview Manor?

Depends on the character you're playing with. For instance; if you have a hunter character I'd definitely go with Lakeview Manor (which is my favorite house in the game anyway). Heljarchen seems more a thing for a Mage to me.

2.) Should I choose the Family Bedroom, or the Greenhouse?

This again depends on your character. If you really want this character to have kids, go with the Family Bedroom. But as an alchemist a Greenhouse might be your priority. I'd go with the Family Bedroom.

3.) Storage Room, or Trophy Room?

The Storage Room really comes in handy. I use it all the time and it is great to have so many different containers to store all my stuff in. The Trophy Room is kind of cool, but (in my opinion), more decoration than functional.

4.) In the upstairs area of the main hall, you are given the option of having one or two twin beds. Is there a reason for the second bed, or should I just not make it?

I've never heard of that before. Maybe it is an update? Or maybe I should just pay more attention. ;) If you really don't know, I'd go with the two twin beds just in case. I don't think an extra bed could do any harm. The worst case scenario is that it never gets used, unless you can put something else for it in the place.

5.) If I were to live at Windstad Manor, what type of fish is best to put in the hatchery?

I'd go with Histcarp. They are difficult to find and when combined with Salmon Roe and/or a few other ingredients, you can create a Potion of Waterbreathing. Not only is this the most valuable potion in the game, it also levels up your Alchemy very quickly. :)

Thank you for your time and words.

You're welcome, :)
Happy Holidays!

My Vampire lord is going to settle in Windstad Manor, for one thing it's in a nice creepy location, near the swamps and overlooking the Sea of Ghosts, and there are always creepy things happening there.
As she doesn't need to feed the kitchen is going to be replaced with a library.
The bedroom will be replaced with the greenhouse.
The back room probably a trophy room.
I will RP that she sleeps in the basement. The other beds will be for cattle guests. ;)

hatchery: depends on what type of potions you want to make, but some fish offer more than just themselves,
raising abecean longfin, cyrodilic spadetail, histcarp, river betty, or silverside perch in the hatchery will also attract blue and orange dartwings, which can also be harvested.
Slaughterfish will lay eggs, and you can harvest salmon roe if you put salmon in the hatchery.

One little bit of trivia, any slaughterfish that spawn in your hatchery are friendlier than their wild cousins and will not attack you unless provoked.

How do you put slaughterfish in the hatchery? Do you just put their eggs in there..? Or their scales?

placing a single slaughterfish egg into the hatchery will produce two slaughterfish :)

Thank you for your time and words.

1. All three, I like to have 1 specifically for creating weapons and crafting, 1 as a family home and 1 as a kind of hangout/ man cave.

2. the greenhouse, the family room does nothing and is useless, it actually puts your childrens beds in the same room as you, pointless.

3. Trophy room, it looks awesome and the storage room isn't any help as you can put unlimited items in anything and theres already a ton of storage in the house.

4. just get the second bed or you'll have a space there.

5. collect a sample of each fish and have everything.

I would go windstad manor because you can put slaughterfish in the tank perfect for a vampire also as a vampire you can put a coffin in the built houses.
