Okay, I have been playing skyrim again on a xbox 360 USB saving device.

I have removed all my previous old saves on my device.

I figured what causes freezing on this game in which I was really turned off by skyrim was freezing...
But what really caused the game to freeze was too many saves on the hard drive causes it to crash.

So, I made a new save on my Memory card with skyrim. have not experienced freezing yet since it's such a huge game!!!

If I turn off all auto saves...should fix the issue...

It's not the game itself that freezes.

it's all the game saves stored in the hard drive over a big wide extended huge game.

anyways....I am back into it:) wish me luck....

If the game freezes again ....just have to bare it until I can sort out my saves...

That's what I was turned off by with skyrim with freezing..... Now , I am getting threw the entire game without freezing as much.

I was quite offended and shocked when a user from a different forum told me that he'd thought my username originated from this.

So, do you just make a save on your own then? How often, and how do you keep track of when/where?

I have an XBox, and know the reasons you stated about the freezes and/or stallings. It's gets irritating, but I get so "into" what I'm doing, I forget at times to save, lol.

Yeh, I get freezes. I had thought it was because my (rather my son's) XBox was a couple of years old (the black slim one that too many put on its side rather than lay flat).

Then I noticed that using electrical destruction of any kind would stall the game, even the eye-candy at times. And with the auto-save, it seems worse, especially going through an entrance of any kind. I generally try to make sure my cache is cleared, and I keep down the number of saves I made. But I am going to turn off the auto-save I think.

I get many more stalls than freezes though. I have found with the stalls, that if I save, get completely out of the game and reload, it quits. But that's just my fix for the XBox.

As far as PC? I've no idea except that I've read that some mod's can cause the problem, or the amount of mod's installed. PC's can be really glitchy at times in any game. You might want to check with those that know about what you have as far as hardware, as well as your visual setting's.

yes.....

actually...I do not mean to disappoint ..

I played skyrim for the first 7 levels but...

I managed to delete my saves every time.

But the stupid game just keep on freezing again.

I can't play this crap..sorry.

GTA 5 is better atleast it does not freeze like this randomly.

It's not the saves that causes the game to freeze.

The xbox with the game is stuffed. If this game freezing could be completely fixed in which I do not think Bethesda will be able to do that. It would be a fantastic game!!!!!

I am turned off by it. It does not make this game playable or o enjoyable at all.

I think the entire game is just ruined.

I constantly forget to save, so it always bites me in the ass, especially when I have gone so far into a cave and almost reached the end. So I have to keep the autosave on to help me from having a minor stroke from having to start at the beginning of a Dwemer ruin all over again. Luckily, though, I have not had any major problems with constant freezing due to this. The game just pauses or runs slow for about two seconds while its saving, but I also made sure to directly download the whole game onto my xbox, that way it is not completely relying on the disk the whole time to play. It helped a lot.

No, xbox has these problems too because it's such a huge game among other reasons. Once in a while (some people have it more due to problems like memory and just having bad luck) the game will freeze mid action, and you will have to restart your xbox, sometimes constant auto save can cause this for some people.

There are also plenty of quest glitches. Unfortunately, I have run into quite a few. In one of my games, I could not complete one of the thieves guild quest because I couldn't find a certain character in a grotto because he wasn't there, and I also could not complete the Blood on Ice from Windhelm. For another one of my characters, the Dark Brotherhood completely froze when trying to leave a shack, could never fix it, so had to delete save and start over. And in NONE of my games was I ever able to complete Meridia's Beacon quest.

So there is a few examples. Normally restarting your xbox or turning off auto save or loading a previous save (which is why it's so important to have multiple save files) will help fix most of these problems, but not always.

You say your XBox is "stuffed"? Does that mean other than having a large amount of games in it? Or is it the other, how Bethesda "stuffed" Skyrim? Confused here, lol.

If you mean the former, could that be the problem? I don't know much about the workings of an XBox, but if it's similar to a PC in how it "finds" the games and files, I wonder if maybe you have too much in your XBox?

I also wanted to add, that I rarely use fast travel anymore, and that seems to also help. I run or take a cart ride (why the heck isn't there one in Winterhold? Running all the way to Whiterun), and actually, I've gotten to prefer running/cart ride as opposed to fast travel.

Time for some ale
It freezes the PS3 too. Not so often that it would prevent me from coming back, but just enough to prompt the fetching of an additional ale.

this is really odd Skyrim lagged on my Old Reguler xbox before I got the smaller black ones xbox 360 S or something and before I moved up to playing skyrim on PC, anyway Skyrim used to lag on console and then it stopped lagging and the cause was the autosave features, turn save on wait save on rest and save on travel and autosave off. if that does not help then its your console that's causing it as Skyrim works perfectly on my 360 that I got 9 months ago no freezeing no lagging a solid unchanging 30 FPS. for those of PS3 however did you know although the PS3 gets the same FPS as Skyrim it is not stable meaning the FPS flickers from 30 to 27 over and over again that may seem a small drop but it is noticeable and may be the cause fro many ps3 players problems.

Goddamnit I was so hyped for finally thinking I found the reason my xbox froze every damn side quest I do, then the guy breaks the hope and dreams I stored up and let surface for a second and it all goes to hell,,, that's what you get for baring your emotions... Never again.

I used to think it was a PS3 issue as I heard the devs never learned to use the cell architecture to it's fullest potential, glad to hear we are all in the same boat. :)

I know! I got so worked up last year because of, well, many things concerning this game it wasn't funny. Took me awhile to figure it's "just a game", and learn to just get on with what I had learned about playing Skyrim. Especially when there was little help from Bethesda.

I wish I could help more with what you're dealing with on your XBox. Maybe there's someone around who has more info about why your XBox is doing what it's doing as far as Skyrim.

Well, I have a friend who has a 360 and he was saying he has the same problems. What most of the problem is, is that the 360's and PS3's are not powerful enough to handle Skyrim for good graphics and great performance. I would suggest trying it on those next-gen consoles as you should have better luck with it; however, if you can afford it, you are better off getting a PC for TES games. I myself play on PC and I have had no crashes, and run at 60 fps.

you see modders make ENBS and massive texture mods and make content that is better then the official Content and you ask why they couldent have done somtheing like an ENB on the Vanilla game of course it would have set the specifications on PC higher but the reason is due to the 360 and Ps3 maxing out Skyrim on only 30 FPS and the PS3 having its licekring problem perhaps on concole the game would have become unplayable as ENB like graphics would have dropped that average of 30 on the 360 down to about 27 FPS and the ps3 would have gone south of 25 FPS due to the Flickering FPS problem they could have done that but vanilla skyrim in itself is too advanced for the 360 or PS3 to play perfectly as they do most other games.

This is JUST my personal opinion, but Skyrim is degraded graphically on the consoles, to stable performances, comparing graphics on Skyrim vs other franchises released the same year is impossible really.

I'm a huge Halo nerd (Bragging rights incoming: Used to be top ranked nationally in Halo4, worship me!) and when I got my hands on Halo 4, I literally thought it was real people in cut scenes, the graphics were amazing!!

Skyrim on the other hand still feels really incomplete on consoles, the graphics in comparison to other games are below standard from one of the biggest RPGs out, and on console there's no way for us poor sods to change that...

...Meanwhile we 360 users hear about you PC gamers and your "ooh so fancy" mods and graphics, the game is completed by fans on the PC, and I'm seriously considering abandoning 360 for a PC now that RPGs are mostly the only genre I like, competitive games aren't fun anymore, you can't butcher a dragon, devour his soul and then buy a house from a steward and instantly marry nearest NPC in Halo.
