In what city might a find a shop that sells me a nice bow?
I had an Elven bow but it just disappeared..

should show up like most other things once you sell some to a vendor. if you've been seeing elven bows they should be at a vendor somewhere at some point randomly. i havent found a shop dedicated to archery like the shop in bravil that oblivion had

There's a merchant in Solitude specializing in bows. Can't recall the quality of the bows as all I've purchased from him are arrows though.

Would you mind telling me where abouts it is in Solitude? Can't find it anywhere!

From the main gate into Solitude. Go straight ahead and you'll pass a couple shops. Then you'll see a stone ramp (it switches back once). Go up the ramp and it'll be right in front of you. On the map it's labeled as "Fletcher".
