Legendary difficulty at level 13 with Heavy armor - the lord stone - oakflesh spell - enchantments and Faendal...it still requires 5 health and 2 stamina potions to kill an icewolf!!! TOO HARD. Is it time to go back to master difficulty? I don't know...I've made it this far. Oh a Dragon??? I run as far and fast as i can...

Just focus on your smithing and you should do fine. Magic resistance helps a lot too.

When in doubt, follow the fox.
We all start out as weaklings regardless of level. Hang in there. It should get better about level 25-30.

Yes... but is it fun? That's the question you should ask yourself.

yea... but maybe you're right....master difficulty was more fun

I feel your pain, believe me. I try to stick on Legendary quite often but the moment it takes me 6 arrows to take down a deer, I switch back to Master. I'm Dragonborn... I fight Dragons and steal their souls... it should take one arrow, two tops, to take down a deer at any level.

When I first started Master difficulty with a beginning level character, it was quite frustrating to say the least. Now, after much anguish that eventually led to counseling, I have found Master to be the sweet spot as far as difficulty settings go.

I think Legendary is only good for powerful, high-level characters that are currently capable of one-hit killing just about anything in the game.

great point

Thanks. Personally, I view the difficulty tiers as a reflection of my build, not me. When my toon is just starting off, escaping Helgen, he's Adept. Strong enough to walk the lands of Skyrim without dying, but not without getting caught up in an ambush. Once I devour my first Dragon soul, I bump it up to Expert. I figure my toon had learned enough and advanced his skills enough to be considered an 'expert' in things. Around this time I leave for Solstheim and the Dragonborn DLC... when I come back from Solstheim, I'm on Master and that's where I stay, with the occasional jump to Legendary for bosses.

I would just bump it down. You can always bump it back up. I change difficulties quite often. I ALWAYS bump all the way down to Novice for brawls. I hate pounding on people over and over and over. I'd rather just kick that ass and move on.

You can change difficulty settings at any time, but it affects all of your characters straight across the board, so be careful.

whats your opinion on playing Master difficulty for beginning characters? (when I get my PC, I've decided I'm only playing Master or Legendary only)

I would play expert then master and finally legendary. Sometimes if legendary gets too hard switch it to master. I personally play on adept until it gets too easy.

You definitely need to play more aggressively and be an opportunist. My first play through from level 1 without relying on sneaking or sneak attacks was very challenging. I also didn't use a follower, so it will depend on how you limit yourself. If you're playing a straight up melee character you'll at least want to go Restoration for the healing and stamina perks and spells so you're not quaffing hundreds of potions a battle just to stay alive. I'm to the point now that I feel comfortable in handling Master difficulty from the start, since now I know what strategies work effectively and which ones don't.

Lol oh man, I've only ever played on novice. Walking around like hot plops with my one hit kills, but after reading some of the postings. I guess it's time to put on my big boy pants and play like a man.
