What we do in life, echoes in the eternity !
Yes, that’s it ! For the first time since I started playing Skyrim, I decided to run for the Guild Master quests. The armor does not impress me at all. In my opinion it is not better than the Nittingale or any armor created by my own, using enchanting, except for the look of it which it is completely black.

I will keep this armor as a trophy. The other thing is that once you become the new Guild Master, there is not room available for you. This is silly ! Beside the fact there are around 17 places where the dragonborn can live, stay or sleep, only the houses owned, houses built, College of Winterhold, Companion’s room and the Nittingale headquarter, offers you a private / semi-private room for you to use and keep stuff in there, you do not get a personal room by becoming a guild master. Bad joke !!

The Guild Master armor set is good, unique and a must keep item. Some will wear it for ever and be happy with it, but it does not even compare to the Nittingale, which make you look real “unique”, “determine”, “professional”, “mean” and “lethal”. I will continue wearing my Nittingale, except for the gloves, boots and hood which does not top off my own creation thru enchanting. Just my 2 cents ....

First *Nightingale.

Once you become Guild Master, you are allowed access to the Guild safe room in the Ratway, if you so choose, and are able to access Riftweald Manor (although the house respawns unless mods are used). Also, your opinions on the Guild Master Armour may not be the same as everyone else's, I happen to think the the Nightingale Armour is a little too unrealistic and ornate (although this is understandable due to the influence of the Daedra). I sometimes prefer the look of the Guild Master Armour because it's more understated and realistic, and actually has some storage that you might need as a master thief.

EDIT: Also, the Amulet of Articulation is pretty useful and has a unique look to it.

I've never bothered even attempting to become the Guild Master. I haven't even received a single special quest, because the radiant quests are boring. :D

And I rarely join the TG anymore.

I did it once and it took WAY too long. Especially since they kept sending me to do stuff in a city I had already completed, or, in Riften itself which is not part of the quest! Not really worth it IMO. Now the ancient shrouded armour on the other hand...THAT I usually pursue.
I really liked the Nightingale...until I found my new love... Dragonscale Armour! Although I am currently trying to acquire some ancient Nord armour.

When in doubt, follow the fox.
Just curious, how many minor quests did you have to complete to get this? I once did about 14-15 for Delvin and Vex and gave it up. OH, and by the way, I don't think there's a single "prize" that is as good as making your own dragonbone armor.

You can quit the quests by speaking to the guild member who gave you it, and pick up another one hoping that it's in a city you need. Gets you moaned at a few times, but well worth it if you want to skip ahead.

five 'small jobs' have to be completed within the cities of Whiterun, Markarth, Windhelm, and Solitude in order to restore the Thieves Guild's influence within that city, then you get the special quest for said city.

lol! I never even thought of that..I hate it when they complain when you drop a job.

Yeah, I wouldn't do it on a serious RP character, but on one that I'm just messing about with I'd do it all the time. Saves soo much time!

II found it fun because it took so long. I feel that my characters get boring after their main goals are met.

This is a bit off topic but I walked into the Thieves Guild today and Brynjolf was really pissed at me and said he didn't want to talk to me and I was out of the guild for what I had done.. WTH? So I tried thinking of what I could have possibly done to get me kicked out and all I can come up with is I picked a lock on a chest in the training room and took some gold out of it (which btw did not appear RED in the inventory). So then I had to go and pay Vex the Surly One, 1000 gold to get back in. o_O

Did you kill on a mission that required you not to kill or something? That may have done it. I didn't know you could get kicked out, to be honest. That's actually kind of awesome and opens up some RP ideas for me. Have a character start out as a thief but gets kicked out at ends up joining the Brotherhood.

yup, that armor sucks, but i never liked the nightingale either.. imo the thieves guild is the most boring of all groups to join and only reason i ever mess with those guys is to get the skeleton key.. aside from that they have nothing to offer, most their quests are "no killing allowed" and their items are just... blah.. the whole group is stale.

I honestly love the thieves guild. I like the fact that you can't kill during it because you have to use your skills to get past people. I like the look of all three armors and as far as enchantments go they aren't too bad. In my opinion a thief wouldn't really have the fanciest armor if armor at all.

Nope, didn't kill anyone. I had just finished the Goldenglow Estate gig and had done it cleanly, with no kills, except for a couple of mercenaries inside the house, which doesn't count. (On master). SO I have no idea except for that stupid chest I picked open in the training room

Yes, it is time consuming. At the end, after I finish my last special job in Windhelm, the Under New Management quest did not start because I had to return the Skeleton Key ( Darkness Returns quest ), so I did and I came back to the thieves guild. Brynjolf was waiting for me and when I started the conversation, he asked about the Skeleton Key and when I told him that it was returned already, the Under New Management quest popped up, so I got the new armor. However, it is not better than the Nitingale in my opinion.
But it is kind of silly that you do not get your own room as it should be. Same thing happened with Dawnguard; practically you saved their asses from the vamps but at the end, you do not get a room. You can stay there but you cannot keep any stuff because it could be stolen.

I don’t know if I can keep stuff in the Thieve guild hideout but I am not going to try. Lot of thieves around to trust to and I am not taking the risk. This is very different than the College of Winterhold, where when you become the new Master mage, you don’t get his armor but his room and whatever you keep in there, it is safe. Same thing in the Copannion house but in there, I never keep any stuff because my house is just one block away.

Despite that, I enjoyed all the quest because you just have to sneak, do the job without killing and it is challenging to certain point, but the master armor, did not impress me at all. Another item to collect as a trophy. Just my 2 cents ...

You do get the Arch Mages robes, which technically, is his armour. They have pretty good stats on them to.
Yes you are right, that was a typo .. my bad. That is the best !!

Hey, I guess they figured they'd just steal your stuff anyway so they may as well force you to make it available. On the plus side, at least you get a nice pad from the DB in Dawnstar tough.
