There are pages devoted to different Skyrim builds out there to keep the game interesting 2+ years later, but if you are like me, you have trouble carrying through with them for any extended period of time. Skyrim is huge after all. For instance, I was just doing an Imperial Praetorian build, where you only use Imperial armors and weapons, commit fully to the Empire and focus on the whole RP notion that you are going to restore the Empire's peace to Skyrim. What to do once you slay Ulfric though...
So I was thinking of a build idea that had enough of a back story to keep things going and I came up with the Ancient Nord.
With the Ancient Nord, the backstory is that you are a Dragonborn from a past age, awoken when the seal on Alduin is gone. Not dead, yet not fully alive either. (sort of like Miraak) Disoriented, you stumble upon the ambush the Empire has laid for Ulfric and are taken prisoner as well. Your memories are fuzzy, though you know that you are in your own homeland (so then a Nord probably, but an Orc would work as would a Breton though I would RP it as a Reachman), you are quite old and frail looking and possess some knowledge of magics and martial capability.
You will only use Ancient Nord weapons, as they feel 'right' in your hands. The same goes for Ancient Nord Armor (it isn't a problem if you upgrade the weapons to Nord Hero weapons later on and also get the Ahzidal set if you like too) If you are a Nord like me, you are 100% devoted to Talos, so Amulets of Talos are preferred and Daedric weapons and other 'Godly' weapons like Dawnbringer are out. However Wuuthrad would be acceptable as you recognize this as a weapon worthy of a true Nord. Your motivation is to regain your original powers as a Dragonborn, so your goal will be to round up every single Dragon Shout you can and use them liberally. I choose one handed ax for myself, but for your other hand you will use Conjuration (Necromancy) to raise undead. Remember, you yourself have been locked in a limbo of death for centuries. You will also use Restoration to heal wounds, but also for Wards. Yes....Wards! You block, then absorb spells and other blows as well as Dragon Breath attacks. As you grow in power (say around lvl 15) your memory of Runes will return and you will take the appropriate Destruction perks. (Any are fine, but I went with Ice. Nord, remember?) Smith up Improvements for you Ancient armor and weapons. Enchant them as you see fit.
Further motivations: The removal of the Empire from Skyrim, including the death of the Emperor. Destroy Mirraak, seal away Daedric weapons, kill Alduin AND Parthanaxx. Finally, an Ancient Nord will shun the company of others so he will avoid cities and towns as he/she can, and will prefer desolate places so Hearthfire Pale location probably.
That's it. Could be fun. Feel free to add to it as you like.
