I'm not sure if anyone here who is interested in the upcoming (or not?) Fallout 4 has heard about this or not, but some interesting and peculiar things have been happening over the course of the last few days, and no one is really sure of what's occurring.

First of all, this website popped up, sporting a countdown to December 11, 2013, along with a Morse code audio file running in the background, repeating the numbers 11.12.13, which is December 11, 2013.

Also, there is this tumblr blog and this twitter account, both of which show off some intriguing content. Posts on the tumblr page have a tendency to vanish shortly after being posted, so a member of the Reddit community kindly made this archive blog to keep track of everything the original tumblr blog has posted, from cryptic terminal-like commands to audio files and obfuscated images.

For some serious and in-depth discussions on the sources above, you can visit here, or its more recent counterpart here, both of which are megathreads in the subreddit /r/fallout. The Redditors who spend most of their day there, trying to decipher the cryptic messages hidden in the website, blog, and twitter alike have some very interesting thoughts and speculations about everything.

EDIT: Well, there's a third Reddit megathread. They make a new one once the previous thread surpasses 2,000 posts. These guys do work.

So, I recommend those of you who are anticipating a Fallout 4 to spend a few hours looking into these shenanigans, as I like to call them, because they are just simply fascinating.

There's so many arguments for either side, and that in itself frustrates me. It's just, so... unknown. Though, while it can be frustrating, it sure as hell is fun to see everything unravel, even if it is a hoax.

Then again, if it is a hoax, there's a good chance Bethesda will play off of it and actually answer the countdowns with legitimate teasers. Who knows, though? Who knows what will happen? That's the fun, and scary, part.

It could be a hoax thats all I'm saying.

What else could it be if not Fallout 4?

It could be fake, put on by some random people and not Bethesda or Bethesda-affiliated.

The trademark means only that there will be a Fallout 4 sometime in the future. While a trademark means the game must be produced in 6 months to 2 years, Bethesda can keep filing for 6 months extensions past that as long as they continue to advertise it.

They would be dumb not to make another FO game... its a well oiled money making machine basically. So there is certainly going to be a Fallout 4.

The real question is: Will it be a half-baked money grab like Mass Effect 3 or a really awesome game like Fallout 3.

Unfortunately. Sad piano indeed.

Some people just want to watch the world burn.

I guess you could say that some people want to set the world on fire, not just start start a flame in your heart.
