I wonder if somebody could help with an Xbox problem I've been having. Now this isn't a massive problem as I'm not getting disconnected mid game, but if I am playing a game like Skyrim my Xbox seems to recognise that I'm not using Xbox live and will automatically disconnect. Not a problem in terms of gameplay as there's no multi-player with Skyrim, but sometimes I need to stay connected if I'm waiting for a message for example.

This doesn't just happen when I'm playing Skyrim. Sometimes I'll be playing FIFA offline and again the console seems to recognise I'm not using Xbox live and disconnects me.

I've tried looking in Settings etc and can't find a way to stop this. I've also spoken to a friend who says this never happens to him.

I would contact XB Live, if you already haven't. It's possible it could be a number of things. Profile not recognised if maybe you'vecahnged something. Internet connection within the xbox console is possible too.

it's probably just your internet connection, happens to me too.

Sounds very much like your Internet Connection as it's happened to me from time to time mainly with Single Player Games, although it has happened occasionally while playing MW3.

Ok. Thanks for the help and advice peeps. I'll contact XBL. It's strange though because if I play online it never dis connects.

I e mailed XBL and they just referred me to the connection problem section of their troubleshooting site. I'd seen this before, but never read anything that I thought was significant. However, it does say I can restore settings, so I might try that. Failing that I'll contact my ISP and see if they can help.

If it was me Lee, i would run a constant ping on my xbox (from a pc or laptop), when you disconnect from xbox live check your pings.. they should drop too if it is a network issue. If it is a internet issue, you can run a constant ping on www.yahoo.com. Same thing, if xbox live drops check the ping status.

If you want to try this (if the reset doesn't work) let me know and I will tell you how. I would not contact ISP till you know or can show dropped packets to their DNS or DHCP servers.. It helps to reduce the "please rub your belly, now reboot your router" crap..

Thanks for getting in touch. Tragik, I'm gonna level with you brother, I don't have the slightest idea what all that means, but despite this it actually sounds like the most plausible solution to the probleem. So, I would very much like to try this. I'm at work at the moment so can't do anything, but if you can pm me with more info I'd be very grateful.
