Every time I open skyrim to play it, a small window pops up and says the skyrim launcher stopped working! Any ideas on how to fix?

(Steam had not been connecting to my comp for at least 3 hrs before this, unsure if there is a connection)

I was playing fine earlier today and now it starts checking subscribed mods and gives me a Skyrim Launcher error and crashes almost immediately.

Ya, I ended up having to unsubscribe to all mods  But then it worked :)

Unsubscribing all my mods in the workshop worked for me as well. It should be noted that after unsubbing a mod the game does not load it at all on startup. I checked to re-load them all and game launches at worked fine so it appears to be related to the launcher checking for updates and not any particular problem with a mod.

Yep, that worked.
If you are having a problem with the launcher as described above, go to the main steam page and restart steam in offline mode. After this, go to the Skyrim launcher and uncheck EVERYTHING that has the option to subscribe. After this, restart in online mode and Skyrim should launch as normal.

Or is it set all to active. Bugger, forgot which it was. Try either one, perhaps both will work!

I don't know if this will help... I've been looking everywhere for a fix for this and nothing... But I think I found one on my own...

Basically, right-click whatever you're using (eg. SKSE or Skyrim launcher itself) and click properties... Then go to the compatibility tab, you'll see "run in compatibility mod", check it and select your system (eg win 7)... Apply and done...

It worked for me, so far, I hope it helps everyone else...

And I figured out that it's a graphic card error mainly... If you updated your graphic card (I have an AMD radeon) it can cause the problem...
