So, what was your character in Skyrim doing before he/she got captured by the Imperials? My current character was running through Winterhold blasting everything with fire. A previous character was sleeping with her lover when some Imperials broke into her house and discovered her Skooma. Another was trying to slip some home-made poison into an Imperial Legate's drink. Another one was recovering from a near-death experience induced by some bad mead when he was arrested for being a Skooma dealer. The last one was praying when her follower attacked someone and she took the blame.

My character was Thousands of Years in the Past and was sent to the Future by the same Elder Scroll that sent Alduin to arrive on the same day as he was originally once one of them A Dragon priest, he would be blessed with the Dragonblood in the Future he arrived at, thus the condition however was he would lose his power and his memory this is also an explanation for why he is named Konahrik, the only reason he knows his own name is because his Mask was calling out to him the moment he arrived, it was locked away for thousands of years awaiting his Return

Andie was wandering after spending 7 years in elsweyr she finally was on her way homewhen attacked at the same time as the stormcloaks at darkwater crossing she peacefully surrendered and spat 3 legionaires in the face and told them Cowards as she began to sing age of oppression she was knocked unconsius

I'm helping. Mostly.
Enchanting. Hank found peace in enchanting the weapons of a fairly good blacksmith in Cyrodiil after his Imperial education would never get him to apprehend his own race's culture. He got caught crossing the border when looking to meet Falion in Morthal for further explanations on Black Soul Gems.

Ooh, that'll do it. Black Soul Gems are kind of outside the law. Border crossing is bad enough.

Nikhaya was running Black-Briar Mead out of Riften for Romlyn Dreth, a friend and former lover. The two maintained a "business arrangement" whereby she delivered cases of Romlyn's stolen mead to his buyers in exchange for a cut of the profits. (After her escape from Helgen, she agreed to deliver one more case for him before finally calling it quits and leaving Riften to enroll at the College of Winterhold.)

She had the misfortune of stumbling upon the Imperial soldiers waiting near Darkwater Crossing. A lone Khajiit hauling a case of mead through the middle of nowhere aroused considerable suspicion, but the fact that she cursed at them, set one of their carriages on fire, and ran off with the stolen mead when they approached her is undoubtedly what sealed her fate. She was knocked unconscious following an altercation with the two Imperial soldiers who tried to apprehend her...and when I say altercation, I mean she nearly clawed their eyes out.

Vampire Master was on his way from Cyrodil to find a more higher level of Vampirism in Skyrim and as he got involved in the skirmish between the Imperials and Stromcloaks he was found to be a Necromancer and imprisoned

Did he join the Volkihar Vampires and become a Vampire Lord?

Mistress of Shadows
Wyldfyre came down from the mountains and was caught trying to steal food out of an Imperial camp. She lived in a small isolated village in the mountains and knows practically nothing about Skyrim and its various races. Her origins are roughly based on the Skaal clan. She has a terrible past but you can read about it in my fanfic :)

My characters manage to cross the border legally by using the PC mod Live Another Life.

But for the purposes of this thread, I'll pretend I'm not a PC player for the two I'm playing now. It would have been easy for me to adapt the opening tutorial into their backstory.

Faire was on the trail of a bandit who had stolen some prized family heirlooms when she blundered into the Imperial Ambush. Lilisara walked right into it as she was born with the ability to see her future and knew there was no point avoiding her destiny as Dovahkiin as she hadn't been able to avoid anything else she saw in her future thus far in life, and Akatosh knows she tried.

(Actually Faire started in Dead Man's Drink having walked there herself and Lilisara started at the Windhelm docks having gotten off a boat).

I'll quote one of my older posts for that.

My background story? Well, uhm...

Violating the law, in a way. If the damned Stormcloaks hadn't been around my escape route it would have worked. ><
Ah well, at least Princess Peach is safe from the Thalmor now.

Daelon DuLac

How do you backstab a Dragon?
He was a Thalmor Justiciar for about 30 years until Elenwyn ordered the murder of his wife & children. He went a little off the deep end and traveled in to Cyrodil for a while. Now he's back for revenge!

My Khajiit assassin, Kihani, had a...well, rough past. Her mother died of childbirth and her skooma-addict father beat her frequently. Finally, Kihani had enough and killed her father. She then spent her early teens and young adulthood in Cyrodiil as a cut purse and pickpocket for her food money. She decided to move her trade to Skyrim, with the war and all. Unfortunately, she was caught in an ambush ... and the rest of her story unravels from there.

When in doubt, follow the fox.
My current character was wasting away as a maid in a tavern, wishing for a life of adventure. She got arrested on purpose to prove herself to the world, to become the richest, most powerful, most deadly warrior in all of skyrim. The ground quakes when she walks by, now.

Sahdira was travelling with her family through Cyrodiil to deliver potions to Bruma when we were attacked by highway thieves. She followed them into the foothills, but became lost. As she wandered trying to find her way back she was caught in an Imperial ambush. Then those stupid Imperials stole the remainder of Sahdira's things!

MY character Legolas (yes I'm A LOTR fan deal with it) was a mere traveling hunter in Valenwood when he found out his amazing skills as a Thief and assassin he then joined the guilds and quickly rose the ranks before moving to Cyrodil and doing the same thing there and also fending off the Oblivion Crisis (he is 300+ years old so its reasonable) he then heard of the northern lands where war has broken out and he also heard of the final Sanctuary for the DB after the wipe out of the Sanctuaries in Cyrodil he got involved in the middle of the ambush and was sent to helgen where his story unfolds from there

Falcos Hawk-Eye was planning to take the horse and carriage which he "found" to Cyrodiil after his first mate betrayed him, the ship crashed and he took all of the loot.

Seanu Reaves

The Shogun of Gaming
With the Civil War cutting to deeply into his employer's profits, my current character who now goes by Vicious (Points for whoever gets the reference) was sent to kill Ulfric. Unfortunately though his infiltration went well enough he was caught in the act of trying to jam daggers into Ulfric's ears. As such he was stripped of his Stormcloak armor and sword. Luckily enough the imperial ambush occurred as the Stormcloaks were going to execute him. And so out of the frying pan and into the fire.
