I wanted to make a thread to share hints/tips on this play style. Good armor sets, weapons, poisons, ect. I don't mind minor spoilers if its helpful to this playstyle. Such as what's the best assassination poison? My goal as Im sure others are as well is to become the best assassin in Skyrim.

Is there a spell to create a radius of silence around you? Such as if you wanted to kill someone in their sleep cast this spell and no one hears their dying scream?

I'm an assassin/stealth too. My setup is the Dark Brotherhood armor, (switch between the cowl and hood depending on the mission), dual wield Elvish Dagger and the Blade of Woe. I also switch that out for the bow called Finirel's(spelling?) End, which you can find on the ground in the top area when you're crashing the woman's party. In addition to that, I occasionally switch it out for the Iron Sword of Arching when I need extra firepower or magic. I have the strategy of use conventional weapons first and when you're about to die, run away, dual wield healing, and switch back in a second.

Firstly I'd suggest boots enchanted with a muffle spell so that your footsteps are silent. If you use armour then I'd suggest the sneak perk, "Muffled Movement" which reduces armour noise by 30%. As an assasin I'd say that all of the sneak perks are essential. I have just gotten Deadly Aim which makes my bow do 3x dammage when I get a sneak attack. Alchemy is also a very important skill to get perks in. The deadlier the poison you can make, the better. As an assasin you need to aim to make your first attack your only attack. A perfect assassin should not have to worry about armour as you should never be seen.

Another thing, don't use invisibility before you attack. You should aim to kill your target on your first attack and have invisibility potions saved in case any of your target's allies come running. That way you can hide and take the next one once they have stopped looking for you.

good advice, though at this point i don't think I'm far enough to be able to execute the perfect assassin style :/

I usually always assassinate with a bow. It's quiet and people are less likely to find you. I usually use Poison of Damage Health whenever I do use poisons.
Yes this is working great for me as well. If you shoot from behind an object and don't get your enemy on the first shot you can easily get a couple more sneak attacks in before they see you.

What's a good poison combo? Id like to make a lingering damage health that paralyzes so they die before they can raise an alarm.

Archery and Stealth is very deadly. Even a room with 3 or more creatures/npc's can be taken down easily if you're not detected. Always target the creature/npc farthest away. When the arrow hits, the others will turn their backs to you because they focus on where your arrow hit, so you won't be detected and blow your sneak. With a good bow, and the right perks in archery and sneak, it's really easy to 1shot them if their back is to you (and quite often when they're facing you too but not reliably so). If you don't kill a target in one shot, fire an arrow at a wall/target behind the whole group, and they'll again turn to where your arrow hit.

When done right, you can kill a room full of creatures/npc's, all the while they're walking away from you.

All of you archers, if things go south and you get rushed by a melee fighter, how effective do you find bashing with your bow to get a little space between yourself and your attacker? I've heard it suggested a few times, but have yet to really use the technique effectively.

Get the pickpocketing perk that allows you to slip poisons into the pockets of your target, for weaker targets in crowded rooms where you cant attack them or draw a bow it works great.

I usually use arrows to the head. Couple that with a good sneak stab and your set.

Or you could always poison your arrows, but I have a fully upgraded elven bow with dwarven arrows and archery bonuses so usually one arrow is all it takes.

If I do get charged I use a Skyforge Steel Knife and a Superior Skyforge Steel Sword, its an awesome combo, along with Dark Brotherhood and Dwarven Armour Parts, it would seem I accidentaly made my character perfect for assasinations.

i'm playing through on Master, and at first it was EXTREMELY difficult to get around because i had every intention of making a complete thief/assassin build..full light armor, daggers, bow..etc.....i'd get ambushed by bandits and trolls and get one shotted...for awhile i relied on Lydia to tank for me while i sat back and barraged enemies with arrows..now, i just sneak through every dungeon and sneak attack everything and one shot them...how you like me now Draugrs? Dwemer Sphere Gaurds?

the games gotten incredibly easy now that my toon is such a stealthy badass now...sneak attacks are doing x30 dmg lol

right now i'm using a mixture of Cicero's Gloves (double sneak attack damag with one handed weapons), Shrouded Gloves (backstab does double damage), Shrouded Cowl (bows do 20% more damage), Nightingale Boots (wearer is muffled and moves silently), Nightingale Armor (increases stamina by 30 pts. increses frosts resistance by 30%), and Krosis (lockpicking, archery, and alchemy are 20% better), Ebony Dagger (Superior; 26dmg), Blade of Woe ( 24 dmg, absorb 10 pts of health), Ebony Bow (Superior; 58dmg), Necklace of Eminent Wielding (one hande attackes do 30% more dmg) and Ring Of Major Wielding (one handed attacks do 25% more dmg)

maxed out stealth tree, maxed out archery tree, a few one handed perks for blades a dual wielding, currently working on alchemy for better poisons

i'm really only looking for a better body piece, but i use the stamina for my bow zoom, and to run away like a bitch when stuff detects me, crouch to stop combat (100 stealth perk), pop an invisibility potion or use the nightingale ability to turn invisible, then i come back and shoot them in the face with my bow

the only thing i can't really figure out is if Krosis and Shrouded Cowl do the same thing..Krosis says archery is 20% better...Cowl says 20% more dmg...i'm assuming Krosis effects the archery skill tree and not the dmg..but not sure..i mainly just keep krosis on because it looks so badass, matches my cicero's gloves, and i make a plopsload of potions

as far as getting rushed, like i said, i make a ton of potions, so i poison my bow with paralysis and keep firing arrows at them (might add some dmg heatlh poisons on there as well once they're down)..i seldom take any dmg unless it's from a sniper

How does back stab work as far as the kill animation. Just sneak up and attack an enemy in the back with dagger? Or is the animation only if its a 1 hit kill?

sometimes you will get behind people and cut their throats, other times you just hit them and they die with one hit
