Do you think Ben Affleck was a good choice for Batman?

  • I don't care either way, I'll still see the movie.

I don't think he's a good choice. I'm not even that familiar with Affleck's work except Pearl Harbour, Armageddon and Dare Devil (I haven't watched ANY of those movies all the way through, I just watched bits and pieces of them and he didn't exactly capture my interest) he just doesn't strike me as a Batman. Nothing moody or imposing about him. I heard they wanted to feature an older Batman, but I was picturing someone a bit more rough and rugged, like maybe Liev Schreiber.

So let me get this right. You're basing your opinion on him acting this particular role, whilst not being familiar with his works, nor watching any of his movies all the way through? Logic flaw, I think :p haha. My suggestion, watch Dogma, and Good Will Hunting, though I'm glad to see you've seen Armageddon. Three amazing movies, mainly because of Affleck. Just a suggestion :)

I suggest watching Hollywoodland, a generally overlooked film for which Affleck received a Hollywood Film Award, Volpi Cup Award and Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actor and was nominated for the same for the Critics Choice Award, Chicago Film Critics Association Award, and Golden Globes Award. It's probably the most relevant work as he portrays the real life actor George Reeves who played Superman on the old black and white television series and was somewhat of a dark and brooding character in both the movie and real life.

He's just never been my cup of tea. Maybe the other films he worked on are good and I'm missing out, and maybe he will turn out to be a good Batman, but that's my personal experience. I liked Christian Bale in his earlier roles and I've been a fan of Henry Cavill since I saw him in Tudors, so I was excited about those guys playing Batman and Superman, but I didn't have that experience with Affleck - I didn't see him and think "wow, who is that man? I must check out what else he's done" (which is what Bale and Cavill did for me).

Though, I will say that I was disappointed with Amy Adams as Lois Lane. Love the actress in her other films, but she let me down in Man of Steel.

I think it's way too early for a Batman/Superman movie. Superman just came back to the silver screen. Why not flush out his story and character a bit more before adding the Dark Knight? As for Ben playing Batman, I'm don't like it, period. We'll see how it goes down. I just hope they don't make it into a Batman vs. Superman fight/showdown.

I would prefer to keep Christian Bale as Batman.

Johnny Depp - Joker, anyone? :)

Meeehhhhh... I mean, face it, Christian Bale wasn't a very good Batman. The movies were good, but he was just bland. Afleck will be the same way, but the movie probably won't be good. :p I probably won't be seeing it either way. I mean, come on, wasn't Man of Steel a train wreck? Or was that just me? :p

... Oh wait.. I forgot it's considered a good movie because six pack abs and explosions. Forgive my blasphemy!

Terrible choice, so bad. Who is casting these people? I'm a pretty big Batman fan so this kinda urks me. WE ALL REMEMBER DAREDEVIL DON'T WE!? I can only think of one movie where I thought Ben Affleck was good, and that was The Town.

I think Affleck is a pretty good actor all things considering. We can't judge the guy or his ability to play the super hero role based on Daredevil. That was just a terrible movie, and it wasn't his fault at all. Can he play Batman? Maybe not, but nobody they've cast as Batman has been able to play Batman since Adam West! Haha! Maybe Michael Keaton, MAYBE. George Clooney? Rubber Nipples. Christian Bale was a boring Batman and an even more boring Bruce Wayne, the villains stole the show in the Dark Knight Trilogy, which may or may not have been the intention of the director anyway. Think of it this way, Ben Affleck will probably be just as mediocre as every other Batman we've seen for the longest time. :p

Ehh? I mean his Bruce Wayne was an intriguing character I guess, but it wasn't Bruce Wayne. He wasn't that handsome (no homo) and he wasn't very smooth or debonair. Not that I hated Bale in those movies, but he's definitely forgettable to me. Which isn't exactly good since he's the main protagonist. :p

Like I said, only seen one movie where I liked him in it, sure he's been in good movies. Daredevil was a plops of a movie, and the title character was one of the reasons why, amongst many, many others. Personally I find the Dark Knight trilogy (minus George Clooney) to be the best of the Batmans', Adam was funny to laugh at though. To me, in both the Dark Knight movies, it seemed as though they focused on the villian almost just as much, if not more, then Batman himself. Maybe that's a good thing, Christian Bale's Batman was far from perfect. I only hold the Dark Knight so highly because of Heath, tbh. The second one was decent, better than Man of Steel, but not as good.

Man of Steel 1 was garbage, I do not have high hopes for this one, along the same lines as The Avengers. At least they casting him as Batman in a movie like this .. instead of a serious Batman one like The Dark Knight.

Don't think I'll be able to take him seriously enough, honestly. We'll wait and see, but I won't hold my breath.
