    Majir-Dar

    Confused Khajiit
"Man I just can't wait till they get here..." He said, before eating his bread. "It's been one night I've slept in Elsweyr and I'm already tired of it, no offense, I just want to be out there doing something. Bandits taking over the whole province? This is ridiculous. If there was more like you, who kept them out or under control, this wouldn't be so bad.

Majir-Dar realized that Deslin had said, they, "I take no offense, I was raised in Summerset Isles, I only came here to see my peoples homeland. I never realized my people were so fond of Skooma, it disgusts me. Now, who is this, they, you mentioned?" Majir-Dar finished his meal and started to drink his milk. He was really hoping for a Dunmer to be in their future group.

Veramir laughed to himself as he saw Ria and Ardin go "hunting". He hoped that it wouldn't get in the way of their trip. Stomach growling, he remembered he had some food in his pack. Setting it down, he slowly emptied the contents. Let's see here...A couple of scrolls, a fire staff, potion for my magicka and health, an Elven sword, spare clothes, spices, ah! Here we go! A big bag of beef! Pulling the item out his bag, he opened it and looked at the insides. There were about five or 6 pieces of preserved beef in the bag. Veramir frowned. He hoped there would've been more. I did travel all the way from Skyrim to Cyrodil after all...Still, I could've bought some supplies...

He was brooding on this fact when he saw Ria and Ardin return. Ardin was stone-faced, but Ria looked slightly nervous. He raised an eyebrow in question, but that was quickly replaced by shock when he saw the massive deer they were carrying. That thing is huge! Guess they really were hunting...He watched as Ardin walked over and began skinning the deer. He then turned to where Ria sat. She was by Talia, chatting about something. He saw her glance towards his way, only for the very briefest of moments and Veramir couldn't help but frown. I bet they're talking about me right now and not in the good way. Probably deciding whether or not to just abandon me here, or maybe just kill me. I bet they're plotting my downfall right now. Well, I won't let them! They'll regret the day they crossed paths with Veramir, Imperial Battemage and Thalmor Arch-Mage!...I better just watch them to be sure. Too many awkward situations have happened because I thought they were spies...Just watch them....

"Summerset Isles eh?" Deslin raised an eyebrow, "what's it like there?" Deslin took a good look around the room, not too many people were close to them and it seemed under control . "I'm not the only one they're sending to deal with the bandit threat, there are others. I lived in the imperial city, so I got there before everyone else. Hell they might only be just getting to the council now, who knows. I like to think a well constructed team is out there on their way, everyone having their own use, but I'm hoping for too much. They can't be too bad though, they're being sent from the council. The damn council. Man I don't even know why I was picked, maybe they saw something in me that I didn't.. Nah but the council don't work that way." Deslin realised he was rambling, and stopped for a moment. "We better get organised, lets see if we can fetch up a few horses. We probably won't be needing them too much, who knows. Lets hope they got more information than I. Do you think we could clear the whole town?"

"I always hated this part. Skinning. It's bloody, messy, and slow work. If you don't have a sharp knife, it's worse." The knife sank in the deer's back, then Ardin dragged it down with force. He looked around and saw Ria talking to Talia, about what happened no doubt, and he saw Veramir shocked look. "Aye, Veramir. Want to give it a try? Or are you shocked we found a deer this size?" He chuckled at the thought. As he was skinning, he looked over at Ria. He as surprised that what happened, happened. They weren't so different, and Ardin liked that. He liked it a lot. "Hey Ria, nice job with the fire! She winked back. Ardin was at the deer for an hour and a half before he was finished. He threw the knife in the ground, and was done. He even presented the deer to everybody. "There you go! We have food!"

The camp was more looking like a camp, everybody was getting comfortable, the fire was lit, the food getting cooked, and there was even a suitable spot for all of them to sleep. This might not be so bad.

    Majir-Dar

Ah Summerset, it's a beautiful land, plenty of towers and rolling hills. It's where I received my Magicka training and by Alkosh, the wine is an art." Majir-Dar said this to Deslin's first question. When Majir-Dar heard Deslin ask for a horse he almost laughed, "There hasn't been a horse in Elsweyr in centuries. There are, however the Senche, they're a form of Khajiit. Think of them as giant tigers, except they're as tall as an Altmer and weigh as much as twenty. Lets go to the market place, we might be able to find one or two there," and with that, Majir waited for Deslin to finish his meal.

"Think about it. Talk to you in a bit," Ria said to Talia, after Talia had said nothing for a minute or two. In any case, Ardin had the deer skinned and ready.
Ria fashioned a few spits from the remaining twigs, and impaled four bits of venison on them, hanging them over the fire, and rotating them slowly. After about a half hour, the sky was pitch black, and the only light came from the fire, but the venison was cooked. She poured a bit of oil on them, lathering them with spice, and threw a piece to Talia, who caught it and munched into it quickly. She passed another to Veramir, who smiled and thanked her. Then she took the last two pieces and went to sit by Ardin, leaning on the tree stump in their bedrolls. She gave one piece to Ardin, and tore into the last piece. There was still half the deer left, so it was unlikely they'd go hungry for the next few days.
Ria was halfway through her piece of venison when she suddenly became aware of how close she and Ardin were. She neglected the thought, and began to talk quietly, so that only Ardin could hear.
"Hey, so... about what happened earlier." Ardin didn't seem to be fazed by this sudden conversation, so she kept going. "I want you to know, I... I'm happy to keep this going if you are." She realised how strange this sounded. "Sorry. I mean, I... think I want this to go further. But I'm not sure if you do, so... I'm just checking. Before it... happens again and we find out that way." She blushed, but covered it up by 'accidentally' smearing some of the spice on her mouth, and spending a half minute wiping her face clean so as to let her cheeks go back to their usual colour. She picked up her canteen from her bag, and took a swig of water to wash the venison down, and looked up at Ardin, more than a foot above her, waiting for his response with bated breath.

Talia couldn't think of anything except for how dangerous her situation was. Any one of these people could hurt her. She sat down against the tree, comfortably positioned on a large root that jutted strangely out of the ground. But that didn't matter right now. All that Talia needed was some of that delicious green liquid that she had not had in a while. She reached into her satchel, searching for a little bottle. But nothing could be found. Talia broke into a cold sweat, and she searched her bag over and over again, but to no avail. This was bad. Really bad. She was so worried about her lack of sustenance that she didn't even notice Ria and Ardin coming in with a rather large deer. What will I do? No one here understands what I'm going through right now. If I tell them, they'll gang up on me at night and slit my throat! Talia shuddered, rubbing her throat warily as if someone were about to come stab at her. I'll volunteer for night watch. That way no one can hurt me. Talia was so absorbed in her thoughts that she didn't even notice Ria, who had stood up and walked away. When did she come to sit next to Talia? Did she say anything? Those questions didn't matter anymore to Talia-she was determined to get night watch. Talia slowly stood up, looking at everyone in camp, and taking in a deep breath. "I'll do night watch for t-tonight." She hadn't realized how loudly she had said it, but she noticed as soon as she realized how quiet it had gotten. Even the birds had quieted down. Talia realized that everyone had sat down to eat the deer. She walked over to the camp fire sluggishly, setting herself down on a dry spot of the grass, using a shiv to take a small bit of the venison. She chewed on it slowly, realizing that she didn't have an appetite. At all. In fact, the deer was rather repulsing. Talia covered her mouth, forcing herself to swallow the meat. When she finally got it down, she instinctively reached for her satchel to get out a bottle of skooma to quench her thirst. And that's when she remembered. It seems I am suffering withdrawal. That could be potentially dangerous.

Veramir eyed Talia with suspicion. "Are you alright? You've gone as green as my eyes. You've barely touched your deer." As Veramir looked closer, he could see sweat coming off her. As he said this, she reached for her satchel and Veramir tensed up, only to see her hand come out empty-handed. He noticed she was shaking constantly. What is going on? It's not all that cold... "You aren't a plant-eater, are you? Is that why you won't eat your meat? If so, I'll gladly take it while you get something else."

Talia shook her head grimly, a haughty smile creeping up onto her face. She was a proud eater of meat, and she definitely wanted something else! But it didn't happen to be a plant. Or an eatable substance. She looked around, eyeing Veramir suspiciously. Why would he ask her that? Did he want to starve her to death, or just weaken her so that when he murdered her there would be no resistance? Talia could think of only one thing to do to keep him from attacking her.
"Nothing's wrong, but thank you. I just think I may have a slight case of Ataxia."

"No horses, I'm sure someone rides them?" Deslin responded, he then thought a bit. "Never mind." The climate may be too unbearable for a horse to survive here. "There is no way you're getting me on a giant tiger, and who is Alkosh? The Khajiit version of Akatosh?" Deslin did follow Majir to the market place however, just to get some fresh air. This land was knew to him, he'd never seen so many Khajiit in one place in all his life. "Anything I should know to avoid any complications while being here?" Deslin asked, unsure if there's any customs he must abide by.

"I want you to know, I... I'm happy to keep this going if you are. Sorry. I mean, I... think I want this to go further. But I'm not sure if you do, so... I'm just checking. Before it... happens again and we find out that way." Ria was now blushing, but she covered it well. "You're pretty cute when you're nervous, Ria. You're a cute girl. You want this to go further? You're happy if it goes further?" Ardin began eating his piece of venison. He also pulled out his water bag, and took a drink. "I hope the deer is good. We worked hard for it!" Ria smiled and nodded. "If we continue are we going to tell the rest of the group or hide it?" He looked up at the vast night sky, thought of his answer, then smirked. "Alright, I'll give you one answer. If you're ever cold, sad, alone, or just need someone to be by you, you know where you can find me." He said wink and a smile. He was happy to keep this going, and he wanted it to go further. He knows he could use the company at night, ever since the attack he can't sleep that well and he has nightmares.

"I'll do night watch for t-tonight." Talia said with slight hesitation. "Are you sure? I can do it instead if you want. Well, if you want, I'm not stopping you. But if you need a break, let me know." He was alright with swaping shifts if need be, he sleeps light anyway. Watching during the day was important sure, but everybody is awake in the day so they all can keep watch when ever they pick shifts.

"Ah, that was good. You know what? We barely know each other! Let's share where we are from, our skills, stories, the whole lot! Who wants to go first?"

"I'll remember that," Ria replied, winking slyly. "We're going to have to tell them eventually, though, so it might as well be sooner rather than later." Ardin nodded. "I don't mean now, but... You know. Soon."
Ardin winked, smiled and began to talk to everyone after offering to take over the night shift from Talia.
    "Who wants to go first?"
"I'll do it," Ria said quickly. She wanted to get it out of the way; even though she wasn't going to tell them about the bandits in Daggerfall, not yet.
"I was born in Daggerfall, and my mother and father belonged to a village, and lived in the jungles. We had quite a lot of land, as a village, and we had a west-facing beach, so we could watch the sunset. We were quite close to the city, so we were quite well-off, with trading and the like.
"My father was the smith; he'd forge tools for the village to use. Our house was in a clearing, near the center of the village; you know, so the trees don't burn down. When I was eight, my grandparents died. They left my parents their enormous wealth, and they left me their house. I couldn't take it until I was seventeen, so the village chief looked after it for me.
"When I was eleven, my parents sent me, along with all the other children in the village, to the teacher. He taught us about which berries to pick, which animals to hunt, which trees to cut down, stuff like that. I was... close with one boy, Uthyn. He was the chief's son. We were never apart, and we liked to go down to the beach at sunset and just watch the ocean, and eventually, that was..." She glanced over at Ardin, worried that she might hurt his feelings by talking about Uthyn, her childhood sweetheart, but he seemed unfazed.
"So that kept going. One day, I was hunting in the jungle. I was fourteen. I heard this... mewing. Like a kitten. So I looked around for it, then I found it. There was this huge tiger, a mother, dead. It had scratch marks, bite marks, everything said she'd been fighting another tiger. But that wasn't what interested me; at the tiger's teats was a cub, just the one. The others must have been taken for food by some other animal, but this one cub was left alone, suckling to no avail. I took it home, promised to feed it and raise it. It was tiny; it easily fit in my hand, and I was small, even then. Its eyes were still shut. My mother wasn't happy. Eventually, she agreed I could keep it, but she would have no part in raising it at all. I called it Sand, and when its eyes opened a week or two later, it thought I was its mother, and followed me around, protecting me. He's still doing it!" She suddenly became aware of Sand being sat beside her, looking up at her lovingly. She laughed, and scratched him behind his ear.
"Then, one day, the chief decided that he wanted me to marry Uthyn. I was quite happy to, but he said it had to wait until I was sixteen. He was older by a year and half, so he didn't have to worry about it so much. So... we were to be married on my sixteenth birthday. We were quite happy together. But... One day, before we were married, he..." She paused, wondering what exactly to tell them. They all seemed to be paying complete attention, with the exception of Talia, who was still shaking, searching her bags, but was still listening at least. "He died. It... wasn't a natural death. That's all I'll say for now." She sighed.
"After a year of being without him, I finally got my grandparents' house. But I was never satisfied; Uthyn should have been there with me, but he wasn't, and I never really got over that. I couldn't stay in the village; I needed a break. Everything was reminding me of Uthyn, so I decided to go to Winterhold. The College. When he died, I... Something awoke inside me, some strange power. It was magic, but as no-one had ever seen before, it was more powerful than anyone dared believe. But I could never use it at will, only the basic inborn Breton skill. So I went to the College. There were some... delays... along the way, but I got there. My father gave me a sword and some armour before I left; this sword, this armour. It came in very useful along the way. The teachers discovered more about my... talent. It would happen upon extreme emotional triggers. They proved it; they cast an illusion, showing me Uthyn dying again. Something happened again, something that nearly destroyed the College." She shuddered as she remembered it.
"So I stayed at the College, after they deduced there was no way they could change my power. I learnt more of the basic, general magic that normal students would be expected to learn. But one day, I got the letter from the Council, and..."She grimaced and shook her head.
"And here I am." Suddenly, an Argonian emerged from the forest. Ria couldn't quite see her face; it was still far enough from the fire to be shrouded in darkness. "Erm... Hello? Are you okay?"

Majir-Dar frowned at Deslin's response about the Senche, "They are conscious beings like you or I but to each their own," Majir wasn't surprised that Deslin didn't know about Alkosh, so he tried to explain as best he could, "Alkosh is the Great Dragon Cat, the Cat of Time, ehhh, just think of him as a really big cat. Most outsiders do," Majir-Dar smiled his response to Deslin. The air was dry and warm, the kind of weather any Khajiit loves. Majir thought for a moment before answering Deslin's last question, "Don't mention the bandits, most Khajiiti here just want peace with them. Don't mention any distaste for moon sugar, it is sacred to Khajiiti, a part of the 'Clan Mother' religion. Which brings me to my next topic, what ever you do, DO NOT ask about the Clan Mothers. This will provoke hostilities and they will remember you for the rest of your life. Oh, and at least pretend to like the Senche, unless you fancy teeth in your side and a claw down your back," Majir was only half joking about the Senche, they really are fierce and prideful creatures.

There was a short silence before Majir spoke again. "Don't mention the bandits, most Khajiiti here just want peace with them. "Oh, nice" Deslin said, "Well I'll have to ask you to tell me about them later , you have me curious now." They continued to walk through, the villages here were much less like Cyrodil and even less like Skyrim. Daryl saw a crowd gathering just up ahead, and heard slight commotion. It didn't sound violent, but it could be. "Oh, this should be fun." He said. He didn't sound like he was being sarcastic, but he was.

It had been a five days since Hides-in-Shadows had recieved her officially stamped letter.
She had slumped down in the 'Bee and Barb', having gone back to visit the College of Winterhold on what had now become her annual trip there; she did love to catch up with the few still residing at the college whom she knew well, but she was always pleased to see the new students taking up the art of magic.

Keerava's speech shook her from her tipsy slumber at the bar. "You have mail, Shadows."
"How can I have mail here? I have only been here for two days!"
"You must read it. It has a council seal."
Hides-in-Shadows' eyes widened. She snatched it from Keerava's claws and sliced the seal clean off with her own.

Hides-in-Shadows,the council asks of your help in troubling times.
The crime-related issues within Elsweyr (of which you are, no doubt, aware) have escalated to an unacceptable level. This situation must be dealt with.
Given your many years of experience in combat with criminals, we request that you come to the the White-Gold Tower.
Please heed our call as soon as you can.

    The Ruling Council of Tamriel

'By the Hist! This is not good news. Well, I shall heed their call. Tomorrow.'
Thus, after spending a further night in Riften to recuperate, and saying her goodbyes, Hides-in-Shadows journeyed over three days to the White-Gold Tower, where she recieved her instructions. After assembling an appropriately packed knapsack, and spending a yet another night in the city, she set off for Elsweyr.

The journey had not long been underway when she stopped still. The wind, blowing from behind her, attacked her nostrils with a familiar scent. 'Old, well worn clothing. Sweat. Aged blood...oh no, not now!'
She turned, opening her palms and igniting small fires upon them. Three highwayman came into view, running towards her. They couldn't have been more than 100 feet away.
The leading one yells "Give us your gold, lady!"
Hides-in-Shadows held up her clenched, fiery fists.
"I am warning you now," she hissed "back off. I will not hesitate to kill you."
There was a pause, followed by chuckling.
"Thinks she's tough? Take all she has!"

    ---------
    "What a great start."
The men were dead, however one of them had loosed an arrow into her side. Hides-in-Shadows withdrew the crude weapon, and called upon the power of the Hist for healing.
    'I need to rest, recover.'
She stumbled through the trees. The smell of a fire was in the air, and she followed it, coming across a small group of beings making a camp in a clearing. Her first assessment of them was that they were indeed, not criminal, but she couldn't understand why such an odd mix of individuals were working together. A woman's suddenly voice cut in."Erm... Hello? Are you okay?"Hides-in-Shadows jumped, and was about to ready her hands again, when she caught sight of the voice's source, and relaxed.
"No, I am hurt. May I rest here for a brief time?"
She took a knee, remaining alert, and hoped for hospitality.

Ria recognised the Argonian from somewhere, but she couldn't see her face clearly.
    "Yeah, come sit down."
Once the Argonian had come closer to the fire, Ria finally realised who she was.
"You're.... Hides-In-Shadows, right?" The Argonian looked shocked, so she assumed she was correct. "You visit the College every year. I was at the College for the past two years, that's how I recognise you," she explained. "Sit down, I'll heal you."
Shadows sat, wary of Ria, but then exposed her wounded side. An arrow wound, clearly. It had been healed to an extent, but not to the level Ria found acceptable. She called upon the comparatively small knowledge of restoration magic, and cast a spell on the wound. Shadows grimaced and drew breath quickly, but the wound was healed. Ria smiled at Shadows, and said, "So why are you out here?"

'She knows my name; who I am. She isn't a threat, and...no, it couldn't be!'
Hides-in-Shadows looked again at this girl who now seemed familiar. It all suddenly clicked into place.
"R...Ria? Yes! I remember seeing you, back at the college. What is a young one like you doing out here on this road? Why aren't you in Winterhold?"

However, her recollection was actually deeper than she let on. During her visit, Hides-in-Shadows had participated in a lengthy discussion with the leading mages regarding Ria's...condition. Not uncommon was it that a mage would have an outburst of emotion, but hers? Far too extreme.

Her eyes then met with the one Altmer in her presence. It was a shock; Altmer were quite scarce now, and her opinion of them wasn't the best.
"...and what is he doing here?" she added, in a rather foul tone.

Shadows appeared to be hiding something, but Ria let it go for now.
"I got a letter from the Council, friend. Bandits control Elsweyr. We are to get rid of them." She looked over at Ardin, who was looking back at her questioningly. She gave him a look back that said, I'll tell you later.
Then Shadows noticed Veramir, and regarded him with... little respect. Veramir showed his usual sarcastic face, but appeared indignated.
"Veramir's helping us too. He's fine; he's not Thalmor."

"I got a letter from the Council, friend. Bandits control Elsweyr. We are to get rid of them."Hides-in-Shadows had her attention peaked by the mention of the council letter. But why would this young girl be subjected to such an assignment by the council? Anyhow, it seemed as though she was staying to find out.

Hides-in-Shadows shuffled and re-adjusted to get comfortable. She now sat cross-legged, with her tail curled around her left side. She decided to keep her hood up - she may know Ria, but she hadn't a clue about the others. She glanced back at Veramir. "Apologies, elf, for my prejudice. Just do not expect me to trust you much for a while."

She fumbled around in her knapsack. "Ria, you mean a letter just like this one? It looks like I will be working with you."

The weight of all the eyes suddenly hit her and she dropped her head a little. "I am sorry, I didn't mean to interupt you all. Please continue."

    Majir-Dar

    Confused Khajiit
    "Oh, this should be fun."

"I'll get an over head view and see what this is all about," As he said this, he climbed up the nearby house, from there, he jumped the gaps in between buildings. No matter how large the gap, he always made it to the other building. He stopped when he was close enough to see what was going on. From where he sat, above a house, he saw the crowd and a figure on the ground. He knew it had to be dead but he had to be sure. He knew he would have to get rid of the crowd, so he cast an area of affect fear spell. Everyone hit, ran away, the rest ran away because they thought they were about to die. Fear is contagious. After the crowd was gone, he jumped down from the roof. It was a long fall but Majir was no stranger to falling. The figure was a Bosmer male. Just racial hate, that's exactly what Elsweyr needs right now. Majir sighed, he knew there had been wars between Valenwood and Elsweyr through the Eras but it was never this bad. Bosmer were never killed like this before the Bandits took over.
