Why change the past when you can own this day?
Ardin was a little surprised by the hug, but none of the less he hugged her back. It was as if the two had known each other all their lives. "Ardin! But... but... I thought you were leaving!" "I knew that the council wouldn't have me come join you, after all they only sent for you. But that wouldn't have stopped me. It's a dangerous place out there. Then the whole crusade of justice, I couldn't help myself! You can't get rid of me that easy. Plus I needed to get some shopping done in the markets! Oh you need help with your things?" he said with a smile. He always loved traveling, now he has a group, a cause, and friends. He looked behind them to see if they were any guards, bandits, and the likes. Though he found nothing of the sort. The journey ahead of them was not an easy one. The distance is far, they need supplies, and a stout heart. Why did he feel so comfortable around these strangers? Especially Ria? He was the shy and quiet type. He isn't the greatest at introducing himself, even more so when it is a girl. I wonder with Avia has found someone like this. It would only be normal. At least we separated on good terms and because we had to. Whatever, no point in thinking about the past. We have a job to do.

    Ria grinned at Ardin.
"Thank the gods! Oh, thank you again, Ardin, but no, I think I'll keep hold of my things. I need to get used to travelling like this, you see; I've been too still for too long!" But still; she had to find some way to show her thanks, so she reached up and kissed him on the cheek. Immediately, there was silence and she blushed. The spot that she had kissed seemed to be growing red as well. Ria didn't regret it, but she looked down at the floor, shuffling her feet shyly, waiting for a response; any response.

Veramir rolled his eyes at at Ria's and Ardin's exchange. Hormones...Just what we need on this journey. As if it wasn't complicated enough, now I have to deal with romance. Gods help me...This is going to be a looooong trip....Frowning, he tried his best to ignore the people who he was now stuck with. "Not to interrupt your...chatting, but we really need to get going."

"Not to interrupt your...chatting, but we really need to get going." Talia smiled. For once she actually agreed with this Altmer. Maybe he wouldn't be so bad after all. Besides, he probably wasn't going to turn around and kill everyone in their sleep. Either way, however, Talia did not plan on sleeping their first night on the road. She had a thing for darkness, and she could thrive on very little sleep. She looked over at-what was his name? Ah, Veramir. She looked over at Veramir, and nodded her approval at him for his comment.

"We should get some more distance in before nightfall." She paused for a moment, looking at the road around her. It seemed so empty. No one was ever on roads, and it confused Talia. "I don't want to be traveling longer than we have to. This bandit problem needs to be taken care of soon."

"Well someone's happy to see me! Looks like you're blushing!" He was surprised she kissed him. It was a cute sight to see someone as small as Ria get on her tip toes to kiss someone as big as Ardin. As much as Ardin wanted to return the favor, the group was right. They did in fact need to get some distance before nightfall, they were tasked with an important mission. This was going to quite a travel. Ardin made the same journey, and it took a toll on his company. Now he was making the same journey, but with different people. "Well alright, if you don't need help, that's fine by me." He gave Ria a smile and a nudge. "Let's get going my friends!"

The woods around them were green like an freshly picked apple. The air smelled of pine and moss. The crunch of the earth below them filled the air. There was a certain kind of calmness to this area. Not a lot people were out this day, although that could change at any moment. I haven't blushed like that since I was a young man. Of course, I'm a bit of a shy one, so maybe it shouldn't be that surprising. Hendrikk was always the social butterfly and ladies man. I miss him. I hope one day I will see them both again. Now I need to focus. If only I could pay Ria back for that kiss. Hmm maybe I will. She's a cute one. Ardin looked around and noted his friends, what they were carrying, what they're skills were and what they had. Was it enough for the journey to Elsweyr? "Maybe we should do a equipment check next time we are by a city or an inn. What do you guys think?"

Ria, still blushing, nodded and followed Talia, Veramir and Ardin further from the Imperial City. It was beginning to get dark; they'd have to stop off in the woods soon and camp out. Luckily, she'd washed her bedroll before setting out, so she'd have no trouble doing so. Then Ardin suggested an equipment check.
"Yeah, I'm not even entirely sure how much food I have left, so I think that's going to be needed," Ria said, nodding to Ardin. She knew that Elsweyr was a long way away; it had taken her three days to reach the Imperial City from Winterhold. From the Imperial City to Elsweyr was at least twice as far, and they couldn't very well go at the same speed as she and Sand had on the journey to the Tower. They needed to make sure they had enough supplies to last them that long.
After a couple of hours on the road, Sand yawned loudly enough to shake a squirrel out of its tree. Ria laughed, then said, "I think that's his way of saying 'lets just stop'!" Ria was exhausted as well, but she didn't want to speak up because she wanted to appear brave in front of all these new companions. "And to be honest, I think we all need the rest. Look at yourselves. You're nearly collapsing. Come on," she said, pointing with Dragonfire at the forest on the east side of the road. "Let's go and find a place to camp out."

    Deslin Rowe,
The Council knows who you are. We are in need of help.
Bandits, thugs and criminals of all makes are now in control of Elsweyr, after a shocking attack.
We need to drive them out. We cannot let them get away with such an act.
The Council is told that of all the people in Tamriel, you are the one to help.
They heard of your experience with such criminals, and your resulting hatred.
    So the Council asks of you;
Come to the White-Gold Tower in Cyrodiil.
    Come to the Council.
    We need your help.

    -The Ruling Council of Tamriel

"The council.." Deslin said under his breath. Deslin almost shuddered in disbelief, bandits taking control of Elsweyr, it hit him hard. Bandits were mere thugs out on the road, how could a bunch of filth and rabble like that take over a whole province? It was then and there when Deslin decided to cut the slack and make meaning of his life. He hated bandits, they were pathetic in his eyes. Bandits even turned on each other, the fact that they'd taken over a province made Deslin sick. Deslin didn't enjoy the company of political figures and nobles, but he made an appearance and received a briefing. Deslin was the first there, he considered waiting for them but he could do it alone. By which, he could get to Elsweyr alone. He liked the idea of being first there, he'd get to know the place and conditions before anyone else.
    -

The door slammed shut in Deslins face. "No... no no no!" Deslin heard himself shouting. He pushed open the door, and found himself in an alley. He saw the debt collectors and another man standing in front of a large door, in a very high fence. This door was the only way through, one of them must have come from the other side as it was only opened that way. The man Deslin knew as Vincent was holding Deslins two year old brother, the man who had just taken Derek must have given him to this man.

Deslin started running towards them. "Hey, the deals off! You hear me? The deals off!" he began yelling. The three turned to see Deslin charging at them. "Quickly, through the gate!" yelled the first man who had come to collect Deslins debt. He and the other man hurried through the gate. Deslin grabbed Vincent's arm and began pulling. "Give him back, you son-of-a-bitch!"

The man turned to look at him. Vincent pulled away from Deslin and stepped through the gate. Deslin grabbed his arms again and tried to pry the baby out of his hands. "Shut the gate! Shut it now!" Vincent yelled.

"No, no no no! Derek! Derek!" Deslin began yelling.

    "Shut it right now!"

"Give me back my brother!" Deslin screamed as Vincent pulled away from him. Deslin saw little Derek looking at him, his brown eyes filled with fear and confusion, as the gate was falling. "Nooooooo!" Deslin screamed, his balled up fists landed on a closed gate. He tried to nudge the gate but he knew it was only opened from the other side. He fell to his knees. "Derek... I'm sorry...I'm so sorry..." he whispered.

Deslin woke up sweating, he checked his surroundings. He was in a carriage headed for Elsweyr, they were nearly there. A few hours past and they got through the border with ease, Deslin had expected it to be difficult with the bandits taking over. He was to reach Riverhold, and wait until further help arrived. Walking into town he was eyed suspiciously, it was like nobody here trusted anyone. He still had another days worth of travelling to reach Riverhold. A woman approached him, and asked for help. "Sir.. These people are going to tape and murder me if you don't do something. Please help me." She whispered to Deslin. "Alright, stay behind me. Where are they?" He asked. She pointed to an alleyway, and Deslin lead her down it. A man lunged out at Deslin, attempting to stab him with an iron dagger. Deslin deflected the bow easily, grabbing the mans arm and pushing it to the side. Deslin pulled out his ebony dagger and lunged it into the attacker, pushing his body into another man who had stepped out of the shadows. The man got up, quicker than Deslin had anticipated, and stabbed Deslin in the gut. Deslin had grabbed the mans arms, head butted him and pushed him away before rushing forward and stabbing the man in the chest several times. "Ah, son of a bitch." Deslin said aloud. He pulled the dagger out and tossed it aside, iron. "That bitch" he said aloud again, the woman was gone. It was likely she was used to lure him here, now he'll never know. It was worse than he thought, bandits armed with iron daggers trying to attack travellers, they even used helpless women as bait. Deslin clutched his wounds as he walked through town, feeling like a wounded gazelle. He made it to a tavern where he managed to stitch up his wound a little, he kept to himself while sitting at a table against the wall furthest from the bar. He decided against staying the night, his throat would likely be cut in his sleep or his goods stolen. He travelled in the dark, arriving at a settlement called Riverwind. Deslin walked through the town, it was in better condition than the other town he had been at but it was still bad. When he walked into the inn he expected it to be as rowdy as the last one, it wasn't. It almost seemed like a normal inn, back in Cyrodil. He approached the bar, clutching his wounds, drearily. "Room please." He said to the inn keeper. "Alright, 10 gold." The inn keeper responded, Deslin looked around to see no one causing trouble. "Why's everyone so calm?" Asked Deslin, "What's your secret?" "Got me self someone who don't take kindly to trouble makers, I give him a free room he keeps the place from getting out of hand." The inn keeper said, he seemed proud. "What a smart tactic." Deslin responded. "Yeah it's the Khajiit ya see over there, sittin alone at that table." Deslin walked up to his room, not exactly the most comfy bed, not the cleanest room, but it was decent enough. Deslin wasn't too picky on where he slept. He decided to pay the Khajiit a visit, the man must be a decent enough guy to be keeping this place in order, he was likely a talented fighter as well. Maybe he would be able to assist Deslin and the coming aid in cleansing Elswyr of the bandit control and reuniting it with the Empire. Deslin sit at the table, opposite side of the Khajiit. "Hello." He said, no response. "I've come to purge bandits from Elsweyr, at least enough so the Empire can reign over again." Deslin cleared his throat, "I was told you look after this bar, you like helping people or is it all about the reward?" Deslin made sure to keep his tone peaceful, lest he ruin his chance at recruiting. "Look the ruling council of Tamriel sent me a letter, this bandit threat is being dealt with. You're a Khajiit, you're in Elsweyr now. This is your homeland, you could help us greatly. The council is sure to pay all who aid us, so what do you say?" Deslin sat with his arms on the table, his hands holding each other as he waited for the man to speak.

Talia nodded reluctantly, huffing as they headed to the forest. A clearing would probably be best, but what with all the bandits making their way to Elsweyr, they would probably have to find a clearing that still had some trees and would be at least a little protected. As they entered the forest, Talia pulled out her sword, uncomfortable about the looming trees. They seemed so dark, and a lot of them looked dead. She shuddered, but pressed on, searching for an area that would be suitable for sleeping. Ah ha! There was a giant tree with a huge stump, and there was a small clearing around it that looked like it would be able to hold bed rolls for everyone. "Hey! I've found something!" With a smug smile, Talia sat down with her legs crossed, putting her sword on her knees.

"Speak for yourself! I'm fine. But I suppose you're right." Ardin said with sarcasm. "Ah ha! Hey I found something" Ardin looked towards Talia voice and saw the clearing she picked. It was suitable for the bedrolls, and supplies. He walked towards the clearing and dropped his stuff in the spot he was going to sleep in. "Nice job! We might make it yet! We have a nice spot here, don't we?" He rested his sword against the tree, and made himself comfortable. Well, as comfortable as one can make themselves in the forest. "It's getting late, we need a fire, food, and hope it doesn't rain. But we can deal with rain later. Fire and food are necessary. Ria and I can search for suitable firewood and food. We also need to discuss postings, but we can after we have filled our stomachs." Ardin was talking from experience on this one. You couldn't survive without fire. You cook food, boil bad water to make it fresh, warm yourselves and clothes if need be, and you can drink and tell tales around it. You also need suitable firewood for that fire. While deadwood is okay, it doesn't last as long and you need more of it. Fresh wood is better. It lasts longer, you don't need more of it and it's stronger. Now for the postings, well, that's time in the legion that was talking. He was always stuck with the night watch. He couldn't sleep too well anyways. He still has nightmares about the attack. He didn't care which shift he takes now. He was fine with whatever. "Ria, I hope you have some energy left, cause we're going hunting!" Ardin had a slight grin on his face.

    Majir-Dar

"Look the ruling council of Tamriel sent me a letter, this bandit threat is being dealt with. You're a Khajiit, you're in Elsweyr now. This is your homeland, you could help us greatly. The council is sure to pay all who aid us, so what do you say?" Majir-Dar was having trouble speaking to the man. The only people Majir-Dar could speak to were Dunmer and he could only flirt with them. I guess it wouldn't hurt to tell him my name.
"My name is Majir-Dar, I'm a Dagi, and I can fight with Illusion and Destruction. I would love to help you" Why did I give him so much information, oh Alkosh I'm stupid?! All these thoughts were racing through his head but he went on, "We should get some rest", and with that Majir-Dar stumbled to his room, his confidence shattered.

Ria grinned. She dropped her bags at the tree stump in the centre of the clearing, picking up Dragonfire, her bow and arrows, and an axe for collecting firewood.
"Right, Sand, come on!" She nodded at Ardin happily, and she and Sand followed him out of the clearing into the forest.
After a while, Ria spoke. "I love hunting like this. I used to do it all the time back in Daggerfall, it's how I found Sand! I was hunting in the jungle one day, and I heard this mewling. I found it, and there was this big dead mother tiger, lying in the undergrowth, and lying next to it was this little tiger cub, tiny, small enough to fit in even my hand. His eyes were still clamped shut, so of course when he opened them, the first thing he saw was me, and he thought I was his mother. So I've had Sand about, what, three and a half years now." She sighed happily. She decided to let him know why she was here and not back in Winterhold.
"Can you keep a secret? I don't want the rest of them to know, not yet, at least." Ardin nodded, smiling. "I want to tell you why the Council called for me and no-one else." She sighed heavily; she had never told this story to anyone else but her parents and the village chief. "When I was younger, I was... betrothed. The village chief's son. We were in love, truly, and we were to be wed on my sixteenth birthday. But a few weeks before the day came, raiders attacked my village. They harmed no-one in the village, but they found he and I out on the beach, watching the sunset over the ocean. They forced me to watch as they..." She withdrew breath, forcing herself not to cry. "They butchered him, in front of my eyes. It was the worst feeling I had ever known, and I wanted the raiders to know how they'd made me feel. You have to understand, this is the first time I used magic. I didn't even know I was doing it until it happened. My mind reached to the heart of every raider in the village, and gave it a huge electrical shock, forcing their hearts to skip a number of beats, as mine had as they had killed... him. Then, as they were dazed, their hearts were set on fire; by my mind. The noises were horrible; they were scratching at their chests, trying to rip their hearts out to stop the pain, screaming. Every raider was dead, their flesh burnt and raw, by the time it was over. That was the first, and greatest pain I ever caused, and because of it I never wanted to cause any pain again. I still don't. After that, I sat over my betrothed's body, weeping until my father and the chief found me." A single tear ran down her cheek, over the scar the raiders had left her with.
Before Ardin could reply, she spotted a deer, and instantly shot it through the eye, killing it instantly so as to cause no pain. She ran over to it, hiding her face as she wiped away the tears. She called over to him, "Could I have a little help?" Her voice cracked as she spoke. She tried to change the subject. "So why are you here?" She realised this sounded much more rude than she intended. "I mean, is there any particular reason you're helping us?"
She felt Ardin's hand on her back, and looked back to see him smiling sadly at him. She smiled back, and waited for Ardin to speak.

Ria's story was a sad one. To have a loved one killed is horrific. Ardin knew the feeling all too well. The story brought up the slaughter at The Sword's camp site. The trio called it the "the red sleep" A scouting party from a bandit clan they had faced down before tracked them down and waited for them to go to sleep. The ground was soaked with blood that day. He was brought back to reality when Ria shot a deer. The deer didn't suffer. "Could I have a little help?" "Sure. We can skin it back at the camp. Plus we still need firewood." Ardin put his hunting knife by his sheath for when they clean the deer. Ria's hand was on the deer checking over it.He put his hand on Ria's. "I have something to tell as well. I won't tell if you won't." Ria nodded slowly." As you know I'm a bounty hunter, I hate bandits as much as you. But, you don't know why. Well, my brother, Hendrikk and I joined a group of traveling bounty hunters. They called themselves "The Traveling Sword" and what they would do is get bounties from the council and hunt the bounties down, no matter where. We have been to all of Tamirel and brought these people to justice. In our travels we came across a bandit clan called, "The black band" these were the worst scum out there. It consisted of war criminals, psychopaths, killers, the worst you can imagine. There leader was a discharged general by the name of Julius Wulff. Our paths met once in the legion, but that was the only time I saw him, until we met again. Before we couldn't catch them, but a lead turned up that they were up at Mistwatch, and they were trapped. Luckily we were close by so we finally faced them. It was a bloody battle, lives were lost, and in the end we brought the ones who were still there to justice. The rest escaped." Ardin' heart was racing, the memories were vibrantly coming back. He needed to focus.

"Then one night at camp, after drinking and tall tales, after we went to sleep, they attacked. It was as silent as the forest around us. First the sentries dropped, then the rogue went for Dar'zhii. He slit Dar's throat, but the rogue sank the blade deeper than necessary and went slow across his throat. By this time Christar was dead with an arrow in his heart. Then the rogue went for Avia, the blade went as close as the skin before I woke and saw the bodies and Avia." Ardin then pulled out his hunting knife. "I grabbed this hunting knife and threw it towards the rogue. She dropped. I called out for the people still alive and we clashed. Blood, steel, and screaming filled the night air. Wolff and I finally met blades. We fought for an hour and a half. It felt like a lifetime. I was knocked to the ground, and he was about to finish me off. I looked to the right of and saw a tree branch. I leaned to the right while his sword cut my chest and face, I drove the branch in his leg. He buckled under pain as I got up. I retrieved my sword and buried it in his . The rest were either dead or gone." Ardin gripped her hand and fought back the emotions. " I thought it was finally over. We slept, then packed up in the morning and went to my home..." A few tears fell down the scar. "What I saw was my home on fire and my father facing down three men. He fought bravely, and killed two men. But the last man was Wolff's captain, Hemsley. He drove his sword in my father and killed him. Right before my father died he saw me, and his eyes told me to avenge him and my mom. I did just that. I charged in with my sword and battled Hemsley. We fought and fought, I was angry, I was blood thirsty. He hit my leg and my chest. I didn't care I hacked off his hands, kicked him to the ground to where he knelt, grabbed my father's sword in my left hand and put both the blades on his shoulders. I slashed, and his head rolled off." Ardin showed the scar on his chest to Ria. "You see? We are alike. I came to help because I hate injustice, bandits, and scum." He felt relived to let that out, after all that time. He finally found someone who knows his pain.

Ria listened to Ardin's story, just as shocked as Ardin had looked when she had told her story. Ardin pulled his armour down to show a pronounced scar on his chest. He was still clutching Ria's hand, so with her other hand, she reached out and ran a finger along the scar. It was absurdly deep, much deeper than her own facial scar. It seemed as though his heart should be showing through his chest.
Ardin made no move to stop her. She looked up at him, and their eyes met. They stared into each other for a long time. Then, suddenly, Ria acted on what her heart was telling her to do.
She reached out for Ardin's face, held her palms to his cheeks, and pulled him towards her. Their lips met, and Ardin flailed about for a moment, then received the kiss, returning it in kind. The moment seemed to last much too long, but Ria didn't make a move to stop it until she had to emerge to breathe. She looked away, and waited. They both made no noise for a long time, but she made no attempt to break the silence.

He felt Ria's hand trace over his scar. It was deep and long, like a scar from a sword should be. Her hand moved up to his face, then Ria acted with no hesitation, and kissed Ardin. Ardin tried to put his hunting knife away so he wouldn't hurt him or her. Ria backed away for breath, then something came over him, he pulled her closer to kiss her, and held her in his arms. It felt good to give in. Ria didn't stop him whatsoever. Ardin pulled away to let what just happened sink in. The air around them was silent, neither one of them talked. He didn't know what to say. In that moment, they were one, silence wouldn't matter after what just happened. The knife was finally in his boot as well. "Um, maybe we should go back to the camp? Get the deer and wood over there. It might be cold. Plus we still have to clean it. What do you say?" He decided to break the silence and not make it so quiet. He got up and helped Ria up, slung the deer on his back, and winked at her when she smiled at him....

"My name is Majir-Dar, I'm a Dagi, and I can fight with Illusion and Destruction, I would love to help you " The Khajiit, Majir-Dar, said. "Good, good." Deslin said, a wave of relief flushing over him. "That went better than expected." He thought to himself. "We should get some rest." Majir-Dar said, "I agree. My name is Deslin, by the way." He said, he headed up to the room he had rented for the night and collapsed on the bed, exhausted. Deslin fell into a heavy sleep, and began dreaming.

    Majir-Dar

    Confused Khajiit
Majir-Dar woke up early to order breakfast and guard the inn. Not that he expected trouble but he didn't want to lose his current job until this new one was concrete. Majir walked up to the barkeep and ordered some eggs, ham, and milk. While the barkeep started on the food, Majir kept an eye out for troublemakers. Majir went to a table and sat down, waiting for Deslin to wake up. This was about the time that six Khajiiti walked into the inn. All were wearing leather armour. One Khajiit decided to threaten Majir, "Hey, give us your money and anything else you have on you." Majir rose from his chair readying a spell with the same movement, "Or what, you'll kill me?" The bandit unsheathed his sword, mad at being questioned, he almost didn't notice Majir-Dar's frenzy spell attack the Khajiit behind him. While they were trying to subdue their comrade, Majir climbed onto one of the support beams that helped hold the roof together. The bandits managed to knock out the frenzied Khajiit and were furious when they couldn't find Majir. "He must've ran away, lets see if the barkeep will be more gener..." Majir flung a frost spell at the Khajiit killing him in a second. The others ran out of the bar, kicking each other and screaming all the way. Majir frowned, Gods, I hate killing, at least he didn't make too much of a mess.

Majir walked back to his seat wondering if any of that woke Deslin. He forgot about the food he ordered until he saw it brought over by one of the barkeep's waiters.

Vanessa turned around, facing Deslin, smiling. He loved that smile. He stood there staring, he didn't even realise. "You okay Deslin?" She asked, "c'mon you're gonna miss it!" She said beckoning to him, before leading him outside. "So what's this big surprise anyway?" He asked, he'd only been informed of it this morning. "I'm not telling, otherwise it wouldn't be a surprise!" The young 17 year old said to the 18 year old Deslin. They jogged through town, Vanessa was wearing a beautiful blue dress. She opened the inn door, Deslin followed. Deslins vision is covered by a white light as he wakes up.

Deslin awoke to something rowdy going on downstairs, as he stepped down the noise became clearer. He saw some Khajiit run out in terror, stumbling in an unorganised mess. He then made eye contact with Majir-Dar before continuing to the bar. He ordered simple bread and an ale, and brought it over to the table himself. Sitting opposite Majir-Dar, he popped the cap off his ale. "I don't know how long we're going to be waiting, ya think you could hook me up with a free room?" Deslin asked, "Or a simple job at least." He took a sip of his ale before speaking again, "Anything you'd like to know about me? We are going to be working together, if you stick to your word."

Majir-Dar thought hard before he answered, "I'll have to check with the barkeep, but I'm sure he'll be fine with giving you a room for work", Majir ate more of his eggs before continuing, "Why are you fighting these bandits? Are you being forced or do you want to?

"I'll, erm..." Ria found it difficult to talk; she felt awkward. "I'll take the wood, and make a fire. You skin the deer and... and cut it up, and I'll put the steaks in my pan." Ria smiled at Ardin, who winked at her, grinning, and Ria grinned as well. She followed him back to camp, keeping an eye on him to make sure the deer didn't get the better of him. It was very heavy, clearly; it was bigger than Ria was. Admittedly, Ria was a tiny person; small even for a Breton, but still; the deer was really very large. She carried the firewood in her arms; some small logs, some medium size logs, some twigs and some leaves and undergrowth; to start the fire. Her flint and steel were in her bags; that would help her get the fire going.
Ria and Ardin reached the camp, both flushing slightly. No-one knew what had gone on, but she imagined they would do soon. Talia and Veramir seemed to be impressed at the deer and the firewood, and Ria grinned at them. Ardin dropped the deer near the tree stump, pulled the knife from his boot, and began to skin it. Ria, meanwhile, gathered up a few stones, arranged them in a circle, and began to build the fire. Logs in the centre, vines, leaves and the rest on the outer edge. She collected her flint and steel from her bags, which were leaning against the tree stump, winking at Ardin as she turned and walked back to the fire. The fire was lit just on time; the sun sank below the horizon just as the fire caught.
"There we go," she said to no-one in particular. She sighed, unbelievably happy with her life at this time. She saw Talia, sat checking through her bags, leaning up against a tree, and decided to walk over and talk to her properly. She leant against the same tree, which was wide enough for them to sit side-by-side.
"Hey, Talia. I guess nothing much happened while we were gone?" Talia shook her head. "Good. ......Hey, so Talia... What do you think of Ardin?" Talia looked at her questioningly. Ria knew there was no getting out of this easily without revealing what had happened, so she just went with it.
"Erm, well... While we were out there, in the forest, I was talking to him a lot. We were talking about our pasts, and we ended up..." She knew it would have to emerge from her mouth eventually, but it was hard to force it out. "We... kissed. I kissed him, and he kissed me, and... I'm not sure what to do. I mean, he's a nice guy, but I'm not sure whether... whether I want it to go further." She looked at Talia, who looked shocked, but not unhappy. In fact, she seemed as though she was almost laughing. "Promise me you'll keep this secret, please! I don't trust Veramir yet, and I'm just asking you, girl to girl, what do you think?"

It felt good to get that off her chest. She'd only kept it in for barely ten minutes, but it was such a big deal, and she herself wasn't sure what she wanted to do with it.

"I'll have to check with the barkeep, but I'm sure he'll be fine with giving you a room for work", Majir ate more of his eggs before continuing, "Why are you fighting these bandits? Are you being forced or do you want to?"

"Alright good, good." He said referring to the room and job. "I was summoned by the council and an offer was presented, one does not refuse the council unless they are mad or have very good reason. I didn't have to do this, but I wasn't about to turn the council down. I could also use the money I am rewarded, assuming I survive, in retrieving something that means a lot to me. In a way I want to, but I'm forcing myself." Deslin finally finished, he drank the rest of his ale in one go, "Man I just can't wait till they get here..." He said, before eating his bread. "It's been one night I've slept in Elsweyr and I'm already tired of it, no offence, I just want to be out there doing something. Bandits taking over the whole province? This is ridiculous. If there was more like you, who kept them out or under control, this wouldn't be so bad."
