BACK STORY

One day while Masrik IV was searching the Jerall Mountains just south of Helgen. He had been searching for lunch for his wife Elly and enjoying the snow caped mountains. As he was just about to make is first kill of the day a scream and an explosion rang out from town. Masrik then quickly put away his bow and ran towards the screams.

As soon as Masrik entered the village all he could see was blood and fire everywhere. People were screaming and running in all directions. He quickly looked around to see if there was anyone to help. He quickly saw his neighbor Falkmar. Falkmar was badly bleeding and trying to put out a fire that had engulfed his home. Masrik asked Falkmar what had happened. Falkmar said that a group of mercenary's came into town and stated killing everyone. No warning, nothing. Then left just as quickly as they came.

Masrik then quickly ran to his home to see if Elly was alright. As he ran through the door he saw her, lying on the floor. Elly had been stirring up some leeks for stew when a mercenary rushed in and plunged a dagger into her chest. The mercenary had been so quick to leave that he never removed the dagger from her heart.

Completely overcome with grief and rage he sat their holding his wife as flames slowly burned the house down around him. Inhaling smoke made it hard to breath and soon he became light headed. Just before he passed out he caught a glimpse of a figure running towards him.

Hours later Masrik woke up outside his burned down home and his friend Falkmar lying next to him in a pool of his own blood. Falkmar had saved his life with the last few moment of his. Masrik sat there for hours staring at his home and his friend.

Masrik eventually made the decision to get up and look around. He found the body of one of the mercenary's with an arrow sticking out of his chest. A just-desert he thought as he searched the body for clues. He found a note signed by General Tullius himself. He stated the he believed that the town of Helgen was a breading ground for the Stormcloaks. Masrik had heard of the Stormcloaks but only that they were for preserving the Nord way of life not some evil group of trolls that needed to be destroied. Tullius wanted the whole town destroyed. He wanted this to look like a horrible accident so that it would not fall back on him.

After reading the note Masrik vowed to take vengeance for what happens to his wife and home. He would travel to Windhelm and Join the Stormcloaks and help to destroy the legion army and their twisted sense of governing.

With no money and no weapons his journey would be a long a difficult one. With all journeys starting with a single step, his was in the direction of Riverwood.

Let my arrows speak for me.

It has been a long week being without a home and my beautiful wife Elly. How i miss you so. I long to hold you in my arms again. All i have been able to think about is to get my hands on a weapon and thrust it into General Tullius' chest. I must control myself, the day will come when i attain my vengence.

In recent events, I had finally made my way down to Riverwood and into the Sleeping Giants Inn. I told the bar keep of my plight and he agreed to let me stay a night free of charge and even paid for my meal that night. I thanked Talos for his good heart and went to sleep.

The next day I headed out to try and find some plants and fish I could sell. I new that the bar keep wouldn't let me stay there another night for free. I spent all day up to my elbows in thorns and weeds trying to find ingredients to sell back in Riverwood. by the end of the day I had just made enough to feed myself and pay for a bed for the night with a little left over to line my tattered pockets.

The rest of that week was rather unevetful, until yesterday. I was swimming out in Lake Ilinalta and found an under water cave of sorts. there was an old chest that was luckily not locked. I was able to cart home 20 gold pieces and a few petty soul gems. I was so excited for my find that i wanted to spend it all on mead and food. I was able to restrain my self because i new i needed to save my money for a weapon. I was able to save enough to by a pair of fur boots. It's a joy to be able to walk around without having rocks dug into my feet.

Today was not as grateful as yesterday though... As i was walking along the bank of the lake i ran into a group of Imperials. They were a wily bunch of character, not acting like proper soldiers like the ones I see here in Riverwood. They told me that i Had to pay a fine of 100 gold pieces. I wanted to tell tell them to try and take it from me but i knew they would easily put me in my place. Mad enough as i was i was will to give them the gold but i was short by 40 pieces. They wouldn't listen to my please. They just pulled out their swords and were ready to cut me down.

By the grace of Stendarr a hunter nearby had heard the commotion and run over on her horse to help. Just as the orc was about to thrust his blade into me a blast of frost flew past my shoulder staggering him. I took this chance to shout fear into the other two legionnaires and run away back towards Riverwood.

I feel like a coward for running but i know it was the right thing to do. As I sit here eating my meager meal I can't help but think of that hunter and how she saved my life. I don't know if I would have made it away or not. I just hope that hunter was able to escape as well.
Tonight I drink to her.

In a week I went from having enough money to buy some decently nice armor, feed myself, and have a nice place to sleep to having 7 coins and living on the street.

last week I was out heading a bit more west than I've traveled before trying to find that hunter that saved my life the day before. I wondered up and down the trail south of that lake for about and hour until I heard a shout and an arrow fly passed me, hitting a small rabbit. She was alive! And from the accuracy of her shot I'm not surprised. We talked for a bit and I left her to her kill. I was happy to know she was still alive.

So i continued west along the bank in search of ingredients when a group of Thalmos guards were walking down a hill with a prisoner. They looked menacing but curiosity got the better of me, and I walked up to them to see why they had their prisoner. They told me that he was a heretic and was going to be sentenced. I was confused so I asked why they there were here in the first place.

The guard told me that they were told by the legion that there were to be no more worshiping of false Gods, and their job was to make sure the was not happening. I then heard the prisoner tell me something about Ulfric Stormcloak. I wasn't able to hear the whole thing before the Thalmos Guard asked me if I was a follower of Talos. I was afraid to tell them yes so I remained silent. He then accused me of being a heretic and pulled out his sword. All three guard rushed me. I knew there was only one thing I could do... shout. Again, I screamed fear into their minds and ran into the water to loose them.

Again feeling like a coward I mustered up the courage to figure out where they came from. I ran around from the other side of the hill and saw a pathway near where I originally met the guards. I slowly crept up the path and up the steps. just before I reached the top I noticed a body. I move closer thinking it might be the body one of the Thalmos guard I had the pleasure of meeting, but it wasn't. It was a monk. there were at least three or four of them laid about underneath a large statue of Talos.

I did find one of the Thalmos guards amongst the bodies. I was glad to see that at least one of them met their fate. I took what i could carry from him which was a good haul for a days work and left the worshipers alone for I did not want to desecrate their bodies. I also found a note telling these men to find a hidden Talos statue and destroy it. I'm happy to say that they did not. But I am sad to see the bodies of His worshipers. I hope that prisoner was able to escape he captors.

After finishing up at the statue of Talos I walked down the hill towards the water so i could make my way back to Riverwook to sell my findings when, of all things, a bandit runs out and demands all my stuff. I promtly refused and he puled out his sword. | People outside of Riverwood do not like me for some reason.| Since I had used my shout for the day I couldn't just scare him and run away. I had to do something.

I jumped into the water and swam with all my might. I made it to a tiny island with a fisherman on it. I begged for his help but he told me that it was not his problem. |I hope he's eaten by one of those razor-fish that live in that water.| I then ran around the tiny island hoping the fisherman would change his mind and help. but he did not. Then just as I was about to jump into the water I got tangled in a tree limb. With nowhere to I was at the mercy of the bandit. With one last blow all went dark.

I woke up back at the Sleeping Giants Inn. I guess the fisherman had a little heart in him after all. The bar keep told me that he was able to drag me all the way from his island to the Inn.

So here I am now. sitting out side the Sleeping Giants Inn. My sleep tonight will be next to a bush. Tomorrow I will start my journey again and try to reclaim some of the things that were taken from me.

Let my arrows speak for me.
Turdas 8 of Hearthfire 4E 201

It has been a crazy couple of weeks. I have all the money I could ever need to keep me going for the next couple months.

while out searching for ingredients and failing to reclaim my equipment, I ran across a young lass that had fallen to an unknown force. He had been wearing a full suit of light dwarven armor. It was like Talos had smiled upon me. I striped him of his armor and dragged him into the nearby bushes and left him. With my new armor I was able to go further and put myself in more dangerous situations with better rewards.

I was able, through a couple more days of hunting and gathering, to buy myself a nice Iron Mace as well as a sturdy bow. This has effected my ability to carry things as it is a burden to to carry both mace and bow.

As days when on I ran into a camp. it look inhabited, but there was no body around. I wondered the area to see if I could find the owners of the camp to no avail. So I stared to rummage through the camp and found a nice book that gave me some tips on sneaking. As I was about to open the chest the owner returned and they were not happy to see me. I ran as fast as I could but not before taking a couple arrows to my leg and shoulder. I pushed through the pain and made it up and over the ridge. I fell and hid behind a rock to see of I could heal my wounds. As I rested I made it my goal to empty that camp and make it my own.

The next day I set out to clam the camp from those bandits. I spent the better part of two hours slowly moving into position as to not be seen by my enemies. I sat there and watched as the bandits sat back and chatted away, all along not knowing their fate to come. I readied an arrow to my bow and took aim. The bandits where probably ninety paces away making this a difficult shot. I took into account the wind, distance, and height I was at... and released... time stood still as I watched that magnificent arrow fly through the air. HIT! Right in the chest of one of the bandits. It didn't drop her but caused her to take a knee. The other two bandits quickly got up and readied their bows searching the horizon for the source of the arrow. As they searched for me I finished of the female bandit. I let loose another arrow just barely missing the other bandit who was looking the other way.

The remaining two had figured the direction the shots were coming from and started walking my way. I readied another shot, aimed, and fired. Direct hit to the head taking out another bandit. The final bandit saw me and rushed my way. I pulled out my mace sprinted down into the valley. We met with a clash of steal. Swinging and dodging I struck at the bandit with all my might. After a long heated battle of wits I prevailed and with one final blow the bandit lay still on the ground. I had won my new home.

I was then able to store my weapons at my camp. I spent the next few days clearing out an old mine shaft that had been taking over by bandits. After It had been cleared I walked away with a full pockets of gold and a fancy staff that could raise the dead and a war axe of souls. both fetched a pretty copper coin.

After selling my plunder I over Heard the shop keep talking about some bandits that had stole hos decorative gold claw. I offered to help and tomorrow I set out to retrieve it for him.
