How do you pronounce Maruadius?
When I went with brute force with my Nord, I stuck with two handed, one handed, and block. I focused using Warhammers and Maces. Why slice when you can smash and pulverize? It's much more fun!

So you combined Marcus Aurelius and Commodus into one name, an edited version of Marcus Nonius Macrinus, or you made it up yourself?

I love barbarian characters, they are my favourite. I go two handed, block and light armour as my main skills. With smithing, enchanting as complimenting skills. I also go the alteration skill tree but only for the magic resistance perks. As you progress with this build you'll find that one of the only enemies that trouble you are powerful mages, so these perks are invaluable to have I find. :)

Like you, I chose Light Armor for my 2H Barbarian. I went with the Battleaxe, because I think it is awesome. No block here, using smithing and looking to start alteration for the same reasoning. Stupid mages.....:D

I just installed skyrim redone and considered playing as a warrior type. But I was afraid I'd get owned lol so I went with an archer. On my old pally I was one handed, heavy armor, block and smithing. (And of course resto )

I stayed away from 1H for my barbarian, mainly because the 2H is far more damage. I do keep one sword on me though, Meridia let keep that one from a quest, and it is pretty good. I am thinking of trying to disenchant it, and enchant my Battleaxe with that power......:D

Be smart about combat, kite them so that they don't surround you, use power attacks from time to time, and you can block with the 2H weapons, so do so from time to time as well.

As Jonathan90 pointed out, block is important. Our build doesn't have a shield, and your heavy armour cannot be expected to absorb all the punishment alone. I'd recommend the quick reflexes perk, if your struggling early. It only requires 30 block and may turn the tide of battle in your favour. It will slow time when your enemies power attack and you block! You'll gain valuable time to decide if you want to block or simply move out the way altogether. Those bandit leaders won't own you so much once you've learned how to use it properly. :D

Excellent advice everyone - - I would add that as a Nord, use your Battle Cry if you get swarmed by multiple foes. They will flee and it buys you some time to heal or regain Stamina, and makes it easier to pick them off one by one.

As a barbarian, it's easy to 'RP' as a fierce intimidating display of battle prowess, etc

Hildolfr

It's a big hammer.
I'm noticing a lot of you are taking both 1handed and 2handed? Why? I don't think I have ever invested perks in both trees...similarly, I've never invested in both heavy and light armor.

maruadius,as in the film the gladiator maximus.
Did you mean Maximus Decimus Meridius? At first, I read "maruadius" as "maraudius" which I thought was a play on the word "marauder".

Oh no, 1H or 2H, not both as far as perks go. I do carry one 1H Sword, and one only. Same for Armor, only one of the two, usually Light for my builds. I went Heavy Armor for one build, and I didn't care for it.

Heavy armour kicks ass, since I am going for 5/5 all juggernaut perks with only 3/5 block. When I am finished with this barberian nord ,he will kick ass!!!

Stigweard Ruadhan

Jeg er stolt. Jeg er sterk.
My builds are always Norse (as in the real life comparison, not a Nord mis-type) brutes full of foreboding ferocity.

Presence is the key word.

I don't like my character to just own the room they are in, I like them to make it tremble.

NiteMare

Presto Change'O !!
I went with
A more Tank build
Redguard
(M)Skills: 1-H,, H-Armor,, Restoration,, Alteration
