Just bought my first house in my favourite town.. Whiterun just got to save so I can make it look better! When you pay the guy to have it decorated what does it look like? Can we customise it?

So happy I now have freedom to collect while im out wandering and hunting without a care for the weight limit.

I know, You know
You can buy furnishing and whatnot but not truly "customise" it. Save for the choice between an Alchemy Lab or a Childs bedroom. (If Hearthfire is installed).
The Hearthfire are the ones that can be customised, though not with total control. For example, Each bookshelf has a place it goes when made/purchased, you can't choose where to put it. They have the most options but are just larger cookie cutter houses.

Hello

Thanks for the reply. So where would I buy furnishings from? The man I bought the house from? Or a particular shop?

And none of the houses are truly customisable in a sandbox kind of way.

Hearthfire gives you more options, but you are still simply choosing from a list of options, you can't choose specific furniture, decorations etc. - just pick what you want from the list that is provided.

That's not to say it isn't good - just don't expect an Interior Design Sim. :)

But I really wanted granite countertops and stainless steel appliances!

I would not waste money on add the alchemy room in Breezehome. You can use the one located in Dragonreach beside the Enchanting table, just my 2 cents ... ;)

Plus if you have one of the DLCs (I think Dawnguard) then you can't even buy the alchemy room in Breezehome...Unless they fixed it..

Unless you like poison. The satchel in Breezehome will sometimes yield a human heart.

I'm on Xbox, I've never been able to purchase the alchemy station in Breezehome. (I got Dawnguard with Skyrim as a present, so I've never played without it.) It takes my money, but refuses to give me the station.

But the satchel on the Alchemy table in Breezehome is super handy. You can just store all your ingredients in that, and take everything out without having to worry about walking around overencumbered (is that even a word?). :)

No clue. I've had every DLC for a while and have run multiple profiles with all installed and never an issue buying one and I always do just for the human heart. Plus every profile does alchemy right from the get cuz it's one of my favorite ventures.

I've never really been into alchemy... The first time I try to get into it, and spend the extra money for convenience, it never arrives...Methinks the steward is pocketing my money...

That's why I lug mine to market and sell them myself. :)

How do you backstab a Dragon?

Why wouldn't you store things in there? It's yours and it's convenient. Until I built my houses, I always stored mine in the satchel of my house in Markarth. It is yours and won't dissappear. Where would you store it? In Breezehome it's either in the satchel or in the trunk. As long as Lydia's there, whose gonna steal 'em. Actually, who would steal 'em anyhow - Arcadia?

While I pretty much only use alchemy to create enchanting & smithing enhancers, it does level you up quickly. Plus it's a ready source of cash. Besides, the ingredients are worth next to nothing, so what's the point in selling them. You might as well not even bother picking them up (there are exceptions, of course - void salts worth 125, etc...).
