How do you backstab a Dragon?
does the soul trap enchant make a weapon stronger?
Not in my experience. Many weapons have soul trap on them already (I keep one with me at all times, just in case) and it can be disenchanted from one of them if you don't have the level or magika to use the spell. The spell itself simply transfers the soul (upon death) in to a soul gem. The advantage to the spell is that it gives you 60 seconds to finish them off while most weapons only have between 5 and 15 seconds on them. I have found that, for armor or non-weapon items, the type and size of the soul gem will affect the power of the item's enchantment, but with weapons it really only affects the number of charges available before charging up is needed (and, of course, when charging up, the smaller the soul gem, the less it charges). As I said, I am not the expert, but, as I don't use mods or tricks when playing, I can only advise as to what I do with a straightforward first game.

my daedra sword seems really powerful since i put this firery soul trap on it. i can kill a giant in 3 hits and a mammoth in 3 or 4 so i thought id ask.

Then you did it right! Mine does the same thing. Of course, I can also kill a giant from 100 paces with my bow. Don't forget to scavenge his gold (the giant that is), he's got lots. Of course where he gets it, I'll never know. Also, why are there no female giants? Are they like the Ents and lost 'em?

As long as your effective skill level is enough higher than the last time, it will upgrade some more. I think it's about every 17 levels if you have the perk.

Your effective skill level, including enchantments and potions. Right off the bat you could buy some smithing potions for 50%, and whatever fortify smithing gear you see, even without enchanting or alchemy

my smithing is at 100 so i won't improve any further

Ancient knowledge quest perk will give you 15%. Meet a lady at the Riften docks to start it.
Notched pickaxe (holding in hand while smithing) will give you a percentage (I forgot the percentage 5, 10 or 15%)
Potion store bought max 50%. Don't know about made your own
4 fortify smithing slots on crafting suit (use clothes that have a low weight when you make your own if you want to carry it around with you) 22% x4 at max 100 enchanting. Can raise this with a fortify enchanting potion. I got mine to 25%. I don't do the Fortify Restoration potion loop. If you have DB dlc, there's a +10 Enchanting item that comes with an armor set.

Would the Path of magic (by enchanting better gear) or Path of Might (better smithing) perks (from DB dlc) make it higher?

Oh, and being a vampire, with the Necromage perk, will make any magic (potions, magic items, etc) better performing. So that smithing potion - better. That fortify enchanting potion - better. The smithing gear - better?

should i just use my daedra sword with fiery soul trap or get another sword and use the enchanted one as a back up?
It's up to you. Why are you thinking of switching? Is it doing to much damage for your purposes or too little?

That was a bug. It's been fixed by update 1.9 and now works as described so it no longer gives a 15% bonus.

The Notched Pickaxe gives the enchanting effect Smithing Expertise which is bugged. Instead of enhancing Smithing Skill it heals damage to Smithing Skill.
Potion store bought max 50%. Don't know about made your own.
Without using exploits (e.g. Fortify Restoration potion stacking exploit, 2 head piece equipped exploit, necromage exploit, multiple sets of apparel worn exploit etc.) player made Fortify Smithing potions max out at 130% after using a build with 100 Enchanting Skill, 5 Enchanter perks, Insightful Enchanter and 100 Alchemy Skill, 5 Alchemist perks, Physician perk (as a bridge perk) and Benefactor perk to make 116% set of Fortify Alchemy Gear and Fortify Smithing Gear.
4 fortify smithing slots on crafting suit (use clothes that have a low weight when you make your own if you want to carry it around with you) 22% x4 at max 100 enchanting.
It's 25% per piece if you enchant with 100 Enchanting Skill, 5 Enchanter Perks, and the Insightful Enchanter perk (and a Grand Soul).

With Dragonborn DLC , you can reach 110 Enchanting Skill with use of Ahzidal`s Genius enchantment.
There`s also a Black Book ability called Secret of Sorcery that grants an additional 10% boost to Enchanting.
