I've had the DLC since it came out but only now just adopted my first child...Lucia. She goes between my house in the pale, and Whiterun Gildergreen saying she has to gather her things and say goodbye to everyone.

I thought the reason this was occurring is because I hadn't married anyone yet, so I went and married that drunk from Silver-blood inn (can't remember his name off hand). He's at home, but Lucia is still doing this going back and forth thing and not settling. No interactions are occuring other than her telling me she has to pack, etc.

I know it isn't an uber issue since it doesn't affect my gameplay but it is annoying.

My apiary isn't spawning bees or honeycombs. With my first character, I built it and then harvested everything out of it. But then I restocked it, because that's suppose to make it spawn again, but it never did, so i thought maybe I glitched it by harvested it before it began spawning. I did however have bees spawn inside my greenhouse, but only two at a time (and often one would be hovering in the main hall).

But I built one with a different character and left it. My garden is thriving, but the apiary has yet to spawn any bees or honeycombs.
I've noticed the glitch with the apiary too. There I was thinking, ZOMG NOW I CAN MAKE MAH OWN BEEZ AND HONYCOMES!!!!! But then, Mr. Glitch Troll came along and went trolololo imma glitch yur apiary!! hur a dur. So now I'm scouring the land for hives and bees. Anyone know some locations for hives?

I don't know if ANYONE has ever gotten the apiary to work correctly. So this may or may not be a bug with Hearthfire but I think it is, and even if it isn't, its still quite interesting. I do have all the DLC and the following mods installed in case it matters: SKSE (latest version for 1.9), SkyUI, Realistic Lighting Overhaul, Skyrim HD-Full, and W.A.T.E.R. Back to the story: Lately I've been traveling between Hjierim (fully furnished with children's bedroom) and Lakeview Manor, so I can move my stuff and get everything in the new house fully furnished before I have my kids go there live there. Every once in a while when I play Skyrim, I get bored of doing whatever it is I was doing, and decide to make a save, and then go on a rampage, killing NPCs, and messing with console commands. So today, I was inside my living room at Hjierim and decided to try and see if Samuel (second kid I adopted, first was Lucia), would dual-wield the enchanted Elven daggers I was going to give him. I failed, probably because its impossible lol. So then he started to attack the dummy for fun, like always. This time, I accidentally got in the way of his enchanted slash, and I received Fortify Persuasion from The Gift of Charity for one minute. I decided to save, and then go on a rampage. I killed Lucia's pet snow fox, and then proceeded to chase the children around the house with my Ebony dagger of <8 points health drain enchantment name here.> Ysolda, my spouse got pretty upset, so I tried using setessential <baseID> 0, so I could kill her, to no avail (I think she has some weird thing with her Ref IDs and Base IDs being messed up, not Hearthfire's fault or the mods). Everyone, including my housecarl, is running around screaming for help and to get out of there, but I didn't see anybody leave (though I was having so much fun, I probably just didn't notice if one of them snuck away for a second). Next a Windhelm guard appears IN MY HOUSE, and tries to arrest me. I tell her to go away because I got the Jarl's thaneship, and she's like ok w/e, you're only assaulting children and your wife with a dagger, no biggie. A few minutes later (I'm still attacking them, I thought I had read somewhere male children will eventually attack you if you attack them continuously), another guard shows up, and this time I tell that he should look the other way because I'm with the Thieves Guild. Sorry for this being so long, I'm putting as much detail in as possible for how interesting this thing was, and for me being unable to leave anything out. Sometime shortly after that guard leaves, or he came, I got an animated scene of me slicing the Windhelm Housecarl's neck. Either there was a second guard in my house, or he came in later, but what happens next is the most interesting part of the whole thing. A guard appears, yelling to "stop right there" and then their generic "I'm gonna kill you" dialogue when in combat. However, nothing happened to me, I instead see this guard chasing SAMUEL down the stairs! Samuel's running away, yelling "GET AWAY!" but this guard won't let up. It gets worse, much worse. I've heard of that glitch in cities before, but keep in mind, this is all taking place inside my very home. I'll need to change all of my locks after this. The guard then switches weapons, he pulls out a the staff of Jyrik Galdurson! REALLY???? He starts to chase Samuel around with it, and fire shocks at him! Well I'm so mad that he stole from my chest upstairs (thats where the staff was) that I just decide to kill this guy. I loot his body, and can pick up the staff and use it and everything! Once that guard is dead, everything goes back to normal I'm assuming the timer on your kids being scared of you for beating them has run out, since I was so entranced by the guard, and trying to kill the other adults in the room, that it had been awhile. I'm in the process of editing a video I recorded of it, but only the last part with the guard, since that was what freaked me out, if you need proof. I'll update this post when its done.

I went to the halls and got my Housecarls for Morthal and Dawnstar I checked out my land transported a large amount of resources there. When I built the first small house in each. So I went back to Morthal and Dawnstar and looked for my housecarls to make them both Stewards of my houses. The problem is they are no where in site. I don't see them patrolling the houses and they are not inside the Manor or anywhere inside the Jarls longhouse. This happened to Rayya in Falkreath But she showed up at my Manor and I made her my Steward then. So where did my housecarls for Morthal And Dawnstar go? Is this a glitch?

I don't know but I had a bug problem with this hearthfire DLC just recently. The entire thing just kept on freezing every single time I would place a sword on the rack, or try and place gold or ingots, skulls or treasures in the glass cabinet case. It's a pain in the ass , but I intend to come off my old account, and caused me to start over again from scratch.:mad:WHY CAN'T BATHESDA FIX PATCHES FOR THESE FRIGGIN BUGS !!!!!!!

I love Hearthfire. I love the prospect of getting out of the city and working hard to build your own homestead, and be able to customize it (however limited) and then even start up a family (however limited). Even hire a steward and a bard, as well.
I really enjoy this, it adds to the immersion and allows you to take your time with it, as you would in real life if you were building your own homestead.

However, as with all games and DLC, there are glitches. And I understand that, it happens. Bethesda can't be perfect.
But... seriously? The amount of glitches that are still glitches really irks me. And even some that aren't glitches but definitely detract from the overall gameplay of it.

For instance...

Lighting. This is my huge one. Only the first light fixture I build actually emits light. The rest sit there, candles burning, yet no light is emitted. So, all of my rooms are nearly grey, except for a small sliver of light coming from the one light fixture that works. Also, can't forget that my fully finished cellar is pitch-black.

Perhaps a glitch, maybe not, but I have a pile of bodies, ash piles, and weapons that don't despawn. I've killed numerous bandits and whatnot that come and attack my home, and I'm fine with it, I like that actually, but not when their bodies or ash piles (Serana really loves necromancy) or even their swords and warhammers don't disappear. I would rather my kids not play in a pile of ash from a dead bandit, or accidentally find an orcish warhammer and lob off the dog's head. They also just make the place look awful, they just litter my yard and are eyesores.

I do know this one is not a glitch, but impossible to deal with on Xbox. Display cases. I love how you can put anything in them... except I can't, because the Xbox Controller proves impossible to handle any item and position it in a way that looks half decent. Also, I can't place anything spherical in them either, as it just... rolls to the bottom of the case... I was looking forward to displaying the Paragon Gems from the Forgotten Vale, but alas... the eggs just roll into the corner. I know this isn't a bug, but please, for the love of god, I would enjoy being able to position any item in a way that looks half decent in those cases.

Well. Those were my concerns. Mainly the lighting though. Because I know for certain that's a glitch, and it really ruins the house.
Don't get me wrong though... I LOVE Hearthfire. I love the immersion.

I've run into the problem with things not despawning. I was able to fix it by carrying the bodies out of the house's zone range. I'm on Xbox and it takes a little practice carrying bodies (some things are too big, like giants--in my case it was just wolves, which I move to the hill behind the stables). But you hold down the A button until you can lift it and you should be able to lift it off the ground and then walk with it to wherever you want to dump it, and then hold the A button again to let it go.

Someone else tried this after I told them about it and they said that even the ash piles that you can't carry away despawned after she moved the corpses out of range. So it seems that you don't need to remove everything--just a couple of things frm that "event" and when they despawn, everything else will too.

I've gotten the hang of placing things in display cases with the Xbox controller, but what irks me to no end is they sometimes don't stay where I placed them. In Vroggi's Lakeview Manor, I put Vadr's lucky dagger in the case by the upstair double bed. Even though I center it nicely, sometimes when I return it has slid down to the bottom of the case.

Ah alright. I will try removing the corpses and seeing if the ash piles despawn. Serana has a SERIOUS necromany problem. I am gonna have to get her into counseling for that. It is getting worse everyday.

I have yet to get the hang of picking up objects with the Xbox controller. I always accidentally recklessly kick around buckets in my house, and when I try to put them back, right side up, as soon as I pick up the damn bucket it immediately flips over and is a huge pain to get turned around and placed down in a relatively close spot.

And I CANNOT put things in the display cases. No matter how hard I try, half of the item is sticking through the case and at some really awkward angle, upside down. Unbelievable.

Well, Hearthfire has almost been out for 1 month now, and I have found several noticeable bugs in the game. Now, I don't know if these bugs have been found by anyone else already, these are the bugs that I, personally, have encountered, yet have no idea how to fix.

For starters, there's the weapon plaques and display cases. The display cases seem to have only one use at the moment: displaying the cases. There's no way to place any sort of sword or dagger in any of the display cases in any of the three new homes in Falkreath, Hjaalmarch, and The Pale. You can open and close them, but there isn't any option to place a weapon in them. Now for the plaques. I recently placed several swords and shield on the weapon plaques in the armory I built at Heiljarchen Hall (the home in The Pale). However, once I removed the weapons from the plaque, the plaque became unuseable. There wasn't any way to place another weapon the rack, leaving me with no choice but to leave the weapons on the rack. Also, the mannequins in the armory, for me, didn't always display the helmet I placed on them. So far, this happened with the Ancient Nord Helmet, yet other helmets seem to work fine. Oh, and the wall sconces don't always give off the light that they're supposed to.

Now, on to the outside. At Heiljarchen Hall, O built the Armory, Storage Room, and Enchanter's Tower (and somewhat regret buying the storage room cause you can store as much junk as you want in any other containers around the house, or in all of the houses combined, therefore making the storage room's only decent purpose to be the porch). However, after building the storage room then the armory, I noticed that there was still a fence blocking the two porches, and the door on the storage room patio meshed into the wall, making it somewhat difficult to open. Also, sometimes, the clay deposits I've found don't always let you mine them despite the fact that I had a pickaxe in my inventory. However, this only happened to me with a clay deposit near Whiterun, it's never happened with the ones near any of the homes.

This part isn't really a glitch as much of a complaint. Did they really have to put Lakeview Manor so close to an alter with a cpnstantly respawning conjurer? I adopted Sofie from Windhelm, and she was attacked by this conjurer and a Flame Atronach he summoned. Anybody else have problems with this Daedra-summoning nuisance after adopting kids? Oh, and I don't know if Hearthfire caused this, but sometimes in Sunderstone Gorge, if I jump off that ledge with the bridge, I fall right through the floor into an abyss and end up back at the entrance.

So there's all the bugs that I've discovered ao far, though I don't know if anyone else discovered any of these first. If they did, then they get the credit for finding them first? Me? I don't care about who found them first. I would just like to know if anyone else has encountered any of these problems or has a solution.
yeah my partner been having same problem with the weapon cases

I don't like the fact that when your character says "Hey, I've brought you something", your only option is to give that fine Daedric Dagger that has 60 odd damage, which you have been working on for a while. Why not give them a Sweet Roll or something for kids?

This bugs me so much! You can have honey nut treats and all kinds of bread and food stuff but the option is to only give them apples or daggers! Wth? Lol

You have hit upon one of my biggest pet peeves. I'm a collector and it's a crime that everything you try to place wants to turn upside down. Bottles, especially the ones with teeny tiny bottoms like skooma make me want to scream. I have to scrape them against the table or shelf and hope it flips back over. Placing things is tedious and a lesson in frustration.

I've finally started building my first house and no issues so far but this thread is NOT encouraging. I'm still glad I bought the expansion but it does seem like pretty shoddy work if there's still so many problems even after the 1.9 patch.

I'm not sure if this is a bug or not, but I'm finding it awesome. I had a skeever infestation in the basement. Dealt with it, walked away, came back yesterday, and found a live non-hostile skeever wandering around. He lets you get right up close and doesn't attack. I've decided to leave him alone and see how long it'll stay. I hope forever, that way I'll have two dogs, a fox, a horse, a cow, three chickens and a skeever in my little menagerie.

HEY Bethesda!! Get your code monkies on this ASAP!!
XBOX 360

I purchased and decorated Honeyside. Then Hearthfire was released so I adopted 2 children and changes were made to Honeyside. When I went into the enchanting laboratory where the new children's bedroom is replaced I found everything mashed on top pf eachother. The children's bedroom and enchanting laboratory now occupy the same space. It's not a pretty site.

I hoped I could correct this but, when I speak with Hamming, there's no option to reset this.

So, with that...it's annoying and seems like it could be a quick project for the code Monkies to play with. I'd LOVE to be able to redecorate the kids room and the space outside of it so EVERYTHING could fit. I mean....come ON!!

grrrrr..

I have givin up on Hearthfire . I only use the vanilla homes and then add and the childrens rooms just for storage . I only add the rooms in the Solitude home and the Windhelm house . No kids ( nice and quiet ) and more storage ( works for me )

Do I look worried?
I agree with you guys, the bugs are crazy but I still enjoy it overall. My daughters do fight from time to time, the pet fox will drive you to drink with all that panting  And my armor manikins will replace their own armor if you remove it, but that could be an advantage especially when it Ebony, that one sells for a pretty penny! If you want to light up your basement put a forge in it, just try not to burn the house down lol

I was set up to be pretty interested in seeing what this had to offer until the problem list kicked in.

I was getting crashes every time I tried to exit my Lakeview house until I found out how to keep that from happening which was to go to the world map and spin it 360 degrees through with the right mouse button down and then wait a couple of seconds before exiting. Put a complete stop to the crashes. Also worked in Dragonborn dungeons and interiors. Guess the game needs full map coordinates before it can load exteriors for your character.

The other problem right now is that Dr. D'Irsei assigned Ria, one of her followers, to act as steward at the Lakeview Manor property, and to protect it during and after construction. She remained behind as the rest of the traveling group went to Morrowind, but at the first rally call she left Lakeview and joined the Dr. I guess Amazing Follower Tweaks doesn't care about Hearthfire directives then, and is not compatible with the Hearthfire add-on, despite supposedly being compatible.

I also am not thrilled with the incredibly limiting AND/OR scenarios regarding building add ons. You can't have a kitchen if you have a library (hypothetical) and stuff like that. No home builder would be forced into such a choice, so why are Hearthfire players? These narrow sets of choices exist in every level of the home build despite having the room on the property for more choices and despite it being completely non-intuitive that anyone would have children with separate bedrooms yet skim on a kitchen in which to cook for them, or worse, would trade cooking ability for a fancy armoury, greenhouse or wizard's tower.

The modern equivalent of that could only be something like driving a Pagani up to a 10 car garage next to a tennis court and then walking into the one bedroom main house and peeing in the kitchen sink because it was the garage or a bathroom, but not both. Never. Both.
