In Hearthfire I've made a home, got married, adopted Sofie and Blaise and built a house, these are some of the things that have happened to me during it!

I recently finished building my home I was so happy and was going out to get my family but then I heard smashing like a giant... and then the giant was killing my cow and chickens so I killed the giant but I keeps finding dead draugrs and horkers as well as other enemys why is that?

I gave Sofie the dog Meeko and then bought Viligence for Blaise but then he was at the door of the house with a... Mudcrab  I let him keep it though, I kinda like it but I would have preferred him to bring a fox or rabbit, oh well at least I can still have a war-dog for myself but the thing is I was waiting for like 2 Skyrim weeks for them to bring home an animal! then I finally give in and get dogs for them and Blaise finally brings home a pet ugh so annoying... but he does look very happy :)

So what's happened in your game that's memorable?

I will never, ever forget this experience. If it seems familiar, it's because I first posted about in the the Your Wow Moments thread.

My character was one of my "simple country lass" playthroughs, who only do enough quests to purchase land, build houses, raise families and buy or grow food for everyone.

I was walking back to my newly built Winstad Manor one evening. A few steps from the door an angry giant takes a few swipes at me. Omg really? In a panic, I dive in the door. As I had no steward yet, and hence no livestock, I was not too worried about the giant. I assumed he'd leave once he realised I had no livestock.

The next morning, when I left the house intending to walk to Solitude to buy lumbar and iron, I was surprised to find him still there, but non-hostile. Wow. He stayed there for three entire in-game days, hanging out by the animal pen looking bewildered. I got to the point where I was starting to think holy crud this is cool having a resident non-hostile giant, and thinking maybe I won't get livestock because this giant is cooler.

But it didn't last. When I left the house around midday one day he snapped, presumably at the continued lack of cows and chickens. I totally didn't see it coming after so long of non-hostile behaviour (omg really) and in my panic sprinted into the marsh instead of the house.

When I have some distance between us, I tried to decide what on earth I was going to do. Simple country lasses are way out of their league trying to take on giants, but at the same time I clearly have to kill this giant for my own safety and the safety of my future family. Then I have a brainwave. I can run all the way to Morthal and get the guards to deal with it for me. This is exactly what I do. To motivate the giant into keeping up with me I am careful to throw the occasional fireball and double back when he loses me.

When I get to Morthal my plan looks like a failure. The mill owner screams he is getting out of here. A guard on the bridge hopes I am staying safe. Benor and another guard say the fight should be good. Nobody seems very interested in the giant. But then, the guard on the bridge runs forward to take on the giant in single combat. Everybody else seems quite happy to stand back and watch. Feeling mildly guilty and not wanting to watch this guard die because of me, I decide to pull out my bow and arrow and give him a hand.

Unfortunately, the giant ducks right after I lose the arrow, and it hits that guard. Instantly, the guard I am standing next to while he placidly watches the fight is galvanised into action. I have commited crimes against Skyrim and her people! What say I in my defense? After a pause for me to say OMG REALLY?!?! I agree to pay the 40 gold bounty and am dragged off to be patted down for stolen items.

When I get out of the guard barracks that solitary guard is still engaged in single combat with the giant. I fire four more arrows before one accidentally hits that hero of a guard again. Again, the guard next to me is galvanised into action, again I pay 40 gold, again I am dragged off, again that solitary guard is still engaged in single combat when I get out. I decide not to give him a hand this time and let him bring down the giant unassisted.

Eventually, there is a victor. The giant finally falls after an epic battle between man and giant. Wow, I think. That guard is so powerful and badass. Bringing down a giant by himself! He is a credit to his profession. I watch in admiration as he nonchalantly strolls across the bridge back into the city. In his moment of glory, this hero of Morthal has some special words for me in recognition of my contributions.

"If it's a fight you're after, I'm ready this time."

Wow. Just wow. That was all I could say.

Thats awsome and you were using Hearthfire right?
anyway that's one heck of a story, when the giant from my story appeared (By that point I'd got fed up with being low on things so i spawned in the dragon scale set and deadric weapons) I wus like bastard!! got out my bow *shot him* get out sword and shield and cuts him up *resurrects animals* and goes to decorate my home with more rooms (As i wanted to do) lol

Yes, that encounter only happened because of Hearthfire. Winstead Manor is one of the houses you can build, and giants periodically attack your houses looking for livestock. I heard a lot about giants before playing Skyrim so I was always rather wary of them. I don't like being too overpowered, so I avoid equipment which makes me so. I prefer my combat risky.

boop.
From what I've noticed so far, only adopted girls will bring home the cute pets, like rabbits and foxes, and the boys bring home, uh, interesting animals, like skeevers and mud crabs. I could be wrong, though.

And my home's only been attacked once. Maybe it's because I don't go home a lot, but yeah, there was just the one giant attack and then nothing. I keep hearing about bandit raids or skeever infestations, but nope. I actually kind of want to see a skeever infestation, because I heard that if you give your kids daggers, they'll come help you fight, so I gave them both Daedric daggers and kept hoping they'd attack something, lol. I've seen them hitting a dummy with it, but that's it.

oh yes the dead draugr. in one of my playthroughs 2 dead draugrs always spawn in front of windstad manor, and nearly every time I fast travel to the manor, they flop around like a mad slaughterfish...

I'm still waiting for my spouse to get kidnapped by Rochelle the Red. So far have been attacked by giants twice, fought off two late night attacks from bandits as I return home after a long days adventuring, and one skeever infestation. Sofie didn't help with those, perhaps because when she told me there was something in the basement she also said she was scared to go down there. But no kidnappings. I want to sweep in and be an avenging angel!

OMG I'm soooo annoyed at the people of youtube. I just got hearthfire today and built a house. Just big enough to fit 2 kids and a wife. I really want to see what happens in a skeever infestation. So tomorrow im getting out early and im going to finish it with all the add-ons. Well, NO ONE on youtube has a video about a skeever infestation. Just some stuff called "Skeever infestation" while some guy with an annoying voice fails.
