Jason, Modder.
So back when TES IV: Oblivion was still hot on the scene i started modding for the bethseda games, after awhile i had a few people steal some mods i made and claim them as their own on the nexus which caused me to quit the modding scene. Now i'm back since i'm bored and have nothing else to do. Lol! >_> So, this is a question i have for the skyrim forums which i've come to like so far even though all i do is lurk (come to think of it mora the daedric prince might like me for that).

My main focus right now is followers, animals specifically. (Oh no more followers).Because every time i downloaded someones follower mod it was never essential and it died within 10 minutes of the game. Mine are essential and can't be killed unless the player hits them. Which has lead one of my favorite followers to be downloaded a lot (although people seem to fail at downloading updates).

So my question is, what animal follower would the community like to see. Post your choice here and give me a small reason why and tell me a little bit about how you'd want it to act. I'll tally them all up after a few days time and make the most popular one and the least popular one.

Attention: Moderators, i wasn't sure whether i should post this in the mods section or not as it is a discussion so please feel free to move it to the correct section if needed. My apologies.

A pet Sabrecat would be cool. Thanks.

I've already created a sabre cat follower, as a matter of a fact that was the first one i made. Look on the steam workshop for "Theoden".

How about some sort of automaton / mechanical follower? The character would have to quest in some Dwemer ruins for parts (a core, some levers, cogs, etc.) and somehow assemble the thing. Thereafter it would function as a regular 'living' follower, with manageable inventory, "Wait here" command and so forth. It could make some clanking sounds as it moved, maybe with some steam hissing from its limbs too...lol

I also always thought that a variety of smaller creatures that a mage character could use as a follower, maybe like the classic "familiar" : fox, spider, badger, toad, raven, bat, etc.. would be great too. I don't imagine they'd fare very well in combat, but maybe they could be used some other way?

Dwarven Automation follower wouldn't be hard to make but since i haven't dabbled in making quests yet which means i'll have to look into it, but i know it's possible with some time and effort put into it. I'll most definitely keep that suggestion in mind because it sounds appealing to me.

Is that fur coming out of your ears?
My manly Nord will take a Cave bear, please!

I will never get to enjoy these mods since I'm on console, but I do have an idea. What about a baby/child giant? A giant, probably as tall as an Altmer, who you can stumble across and it takes a liking to you. Complete with club and moderately outrageous strength. It can't be that hard to miniaturize the giant model, making it look a bit younger, and I think it's totally plausible for the Dragonborn to befriend a giant youth.

I dunno, it's just a wild idea. I could have said something like a badass stag/deer/elk animal follower. Make him white with some enormous antlers. Give him some magical properties and an epic melee attack. But I feel like that's probably been done, no?

A Minotaur would be legit.

Hard :- A Shape Shifter that you carry round in like a Skooma bottle and it would choose the best form to change into in battle to defend like a small wall, a flipped over table or forcefield or battle along side you as a big Mammoth, WarHorse, Sabrecat etc and you had a default setting for Attack/Defend you could switch it to which ever u wanted, but it would chose the effect to make things just that more interesting and sometimes funny.

Not so Hard: A Drugar Death Lord would be quite cool and you could have a great story line on this

Cave Bear - It won't be that hard to make and i planned on making on this week anyways, so when it's done i will be sure to link it here. He'll probably be located somewhere near whiterun or riverwood, maybe even somewhere in solitude.

Baby Giant - Now this would be interested in to make, all i would have to do is alter the dialog such as with the sabre cat and alter his size which is 1 digit i have to change lol. So i'll keep this in mind thats for sure!

Minotaur - Now this would be hard since i have never worked with making actual meshes and as far as i know of there aren't any minotaurs in the game which means i would have to start the model from scratch, it would take me a few months time.

Shape shifter - Why not tame a spriggan? Lol. I'm not even sure how i would go about making that. XD But the draugr deathlord wouldn't be hard to make, once again with the quest option though i'd have to do some research.

All in all i'm loving the ideas people are pouring in, keep it coming!

A Spriggan lool cant even get close to those things without them trying that Migraine to your head spell they have wth is that anyway ive always wasted them before that buzzing swarming noise has fully kicked off
yeah that Shape Shif is a bit out there i blame RedBull

It would be interesting to have Deathlord quest like you save them from eternity guarding there recently Re-Deceased Master and like as a thank you the Deathlord offers to follow you for a few Quests before he joins his Bretheren in Sovngarde and like balance it out so the inhabitants would would react to it like they would if you were in beast form so you would have to think about when and were you took him/her/it

In Markarth you can buy a dog, it would be cool if you could choose from different shapes and colors and name him yourself.

Yeah and have more commands like " Silence Hound ! " i got one which constantly barks and heavy breathes ive almost killed it a few times but when you look into those soppy doggy eyes its impossible a good thing happened though he is stuck in a small alcove in the cellar of Proudspire its just as you go down the stairs to the right got a weapons rack in there and a few barrels he seems glitched but does all his normal doggy stuff like lay down sit up bark whimper i did try to lead him out but he always goes back there ...Weird

I have a question on followers and allies. If I turn into a werewolf in battle, will my allies attack me? Ex: Stormcloaks in the middle of battle
