I'm having a strange issue with this. I follow the video and my restoration goes into stupid numbers. I then try to make the Fortify Smithing and Fortify Enchanting potions and the first one will only be 126% which is what my apparel gives me and after that they will only go up 1%.

Anyone know where I'm going wrong?

42 percent is the best it gets. following it to the letter
Hmm,
What skill is your potion making and enchanting at?
I have only tried this with 100 potion and 100 enchanting, and with the 5/5 +20% perks, and the "beneficial effects on potions you make are 50% more" perk.
I also had 4 items with +25% potion making.

The key here is that when you take the fortify restoration potion, that also increases beneficial enchantments on your apparels (but only when they are first put on).

So, make sure to take off all your apparels, look at your fortify potion apparels, note the % increase, take a fortify restoration potion.
Look at your fortify potion apparels, note how much it increased (if any).
If it increased, make a new fortify restoration potion (this should be stronger than the first one).
Take off your clothes, note their %, take the new potion you made, note their %.

Let me know if this helps? If their % increases and by how much.
Make sure that the restoration potion effect timer doesn't run out.

could that be because of it rolling over into the negative integers? the price only going down a little? anyway, update, i couldnt get it to work following the video, because he used only a circlet. i got it to work using four pieces enchanted with fortify alchemy, i dont know how that worked for him. i didnt go too crazy, got my armour right at 500 before the matching set bonus, left my weapons in the tripple digits, and my mana regenerate enchantment is like 235%. all my health is still like it was before this "cheat" lol. otherwise i woul get bored

and i also had to remove enchanted gear before drinking each potion, and re equip after.

phantom, that happened to me too the first or second time, i think what happened was the potion duration expired, right before making the smith / enchant potions :-/
try to do it one less time or just hurry it up a bit. hope that works for ya

also, my alchemy skill was less than 40 when i did it, with only one point in the first perk, which gives +20% potion strength. it worked, but i had to reload twice because the potion wore off when i got greedy lol. maybe a higher alchemy ski and more perks could increase potency and save time on potion duration, but i dont know if the difference would be signifigant enough to invest the points and / or time leveling up the skill. good luck!

I've been having a problem with the glitch. It hasn't been working for me and I've been trying to take everything into account, but one thing I've noticed is that no one says which version their using.
Right now, I have the Xbox 360 version 1.00.4.0 You can see which version you have by pausing the game and looking at the lower left-hand corner of the menu screen.. not sure if I spelled "corner" right, looks kinda funny to me.. anyway.
Another thing I've noticed is that everyone says that you can do the glitch at very low levels. But every tutorial video I've seen, they're always at 100 alchemy and 100 enchanting.

I guess what I'm trying to ask is this.
1-Does it work with version 1.00.4.0?
2-Do you need to have alchemy and enchanting to 100 with all perks?
And 3-Does the glitch work with an enchanted item that you purchased or found, or does it only work with items that you've enchanted?

Please reply if you know anything.

I'd rather be working on my bowling average.
This glitch works on all platforms: xbox, ps3, pc.

It's really easy to do once you understand the order of how to do it. You can do it with < 100 in alchemy, but you'll have to do it more. Also, you have to be really quick with the enchanting part before it runs out. Next time I try this I'm going to make ~50 fortify enchanting and smithing pots.

I've got iron gauntlets of alchemy. Then I need 10x what? And what are the ingredients needed for fortify enchanting and smithing?

everytime i atempt this glitch, my xbox freezes in the fourth or fifth potion i make.
its so frustrating
Mine freezes if I play for too long. I think it has to do with auto-saving when zoning. Try turning off the character save every "X" amount of minutes option, but then you'll have to remember to manually save - which can be difficult.

the maximum is 2.14 billion -> its a long number, its the same number in every game.
I know this because i have done it on a god save, where i had 999 % enchant on a ring.
once you hit 2.14 billion, it goes negative. max potion you should make is 1 million %. any higher will push it past. highest fortify alchemy, if using all items, is around 750000.
for anything, even smithing, you should stay under 800000 %. never go past.
i made a ring, with 1 million smithing and alchemy, it works great.
i made another ring with 1 billion smithing and alchemy, it makes everything you make negative.
i made a third ring with 5 million smithing and alchemy, it still pushed it to negative.

hope this helped?

I've tried this today and doesn't seem to work for me.

I'm on PS3 v1.2.28.0.4 I only have my Alchemy at 15 still so am wondering whether it really only does the job with the higher ratings.

Basically what happens is I do the first step on a gold ring to make the created potions more powerful. As I'm only lvl 15 Alch it's only made the potions 1% more powerful.

I make my fortify restoration potions which increase to 19%. Drink. Remove ring. Put ring back on.

Ring still at 1%. Go back to make another fortify restoration and that's still at 19%.
