I'm thoroughly attached to my character and have no interest at all in playing alternate toons. I'll echo some of Ricky's thoughts; my goal is to see and explore everything. I'm at around 100 hours and am nowhere near to achieving that goal.

btw... Ricky, nice sig.

I have to agree completely with everything you just said.

I have 4.

A Breton mage who uses heavy conjuration and destructive magic.[with a bit in restpration.. need to work on the alteration side since I just saw all the awesome perks]. Archmage of the college and currently working to help the Empire.

A Argonian thief.. hes doing pretty well and while my second character is already my highest level and probably the richest so far from robbing and pickpocketing my way across Skyrim.

A two handed female nord.. not much to say about her. I'm thinking of rebooting her since I want to try her with light armor instead of heavy armor...just seems to make more sense to me and fits her personality more.

A sword and board orc. Hes doing pretty well his enchanting is almost on par with my mage and his smithing is way up there. My only issue with him is lack of healing potions/ [trying to not mess with alchemy to get lvls through smithing/one-handed/heavy armor/enchanting only]

I pretty much stick with one character, I have the fear of saving over or deleting a character.

at the moment ive been a balanced dark elf (when i knew nothing about the game) and a balanced Nord.
Im gonna make a high elf mage, an orc/redguard warrior and a khajiit/wood-elf thief and leave it like that, ill probz join every faction but just for ssomething to do after specific questlines...

Soul Curry

Charlie Sheen
For me its pretty easy to stick to one. I only have 2 characters so far, my main one being a Nord tank/range character though I have archmage and I plan to train magic up. I usually start a new character once I have finished the main quest and still play on my main. My overall goal is to discover all places and do all the quests I can.

conchvegas

Aravis, deadly archer
This is the first real role playing game I've played. I'm more of a FPS kind of guy. So all this back story etc with my character really isn't a part of my gaming. It's fun leveling him up sure, but I don't immerse my self in his character to the point that some people do.

Dragon Bourne

Long Live Paarthurnax!
How is crafting 600 daggers cheating? Your still using up valuable time and resources crafting to raise your skill. Now using the bookshelf trick with the oghma infinium, that's cheating.

Valid point, friend. I did end up with 100 Smithing skill by focusing all my efforts on it. LOVE my Dragon Armor.

Boy, I wish I could stick to one character. Its getting silly now as i'm starting to get confused about which character uses which skill or which quest their doing!

Here are some of my characters:
Name:Galog'bal
Race:Orc
Skills used:Smithing, One handed (dual wield), heavy armor, Archery
Misc:Has accidently killed 5 followers

Name:Jorgir
Race:Nord
Skills used:Smithing, Alchemy, Light armor, one handed, Destruction, Archery, Restoration
Misc:Trapped in Sovengarde

Name:Magus
Race:Breton
Skills used: Destruction, Alteration, Restoration, Illusion, Sneak, Alchemy
Misc:Collects books learn't nothing at college of Winterhold

And thats just 3 I have like 12 all between lvl 10 and 18...

Al'Amar

The Wood Elf
Not that this is scientific or anything but I see a lot more posts here from people saying they have multiple characters than people who have one.

I'm in the minority, though. Still on my first character.
Same here, I'm still experimenting the world of Skyrim and I'm nowhere near done!

Peace I can only imagine
GI think I've made over 40 characters and the only one I've sticked with somewhat is a lvl 45 and it's fustrating I even tried the given ngmy character a background story it just seems something is wrong with me lol I'm never happy everything seems fine for the first few levels then I start to think ok this isn't what I want or a find some flaw with the look of my character thank goodness for. Sculpturer. But made a high female mage and realized her head and body color did not match these little things urk me and make me want to start over lol I know it's slow but ugh. I was a high elf for a while before and never noticed that issue. But I'm trying to find something and stick with it this time just going to spend hours at creation Wi dow

Mighty Pecan Pie

The secret American
I have a hard time starting over.. I like my first char too much..

although I don't like her name.. Reiki. since someone brought up the name Avelyn, I'm hooked on that name..

Dust651

Wizard
I have always had only one character, all skills leveled to 100 and almost all quests completed. That might be boring for some players but not for me. In Skyrim I usually wander around looking for bandits, vampires and other evil beings.
I am The Judge, ultimate defender of Justice and destroyer of all evil. Bandits are afraid of my beard because it's the last thing they will see.

I'm an author, and my science fiction is extremely Character driven. My guess is that, like you, this is the reason why I make so many characters in Skyrim, or games like it. While it is possible to do virtually everything with 1 character, he, or she would have one personality, not to mention look, race, and so forth. The Personality is what attracts me to all of them, though I add outfits, and items to them to match. The Story part of the story has already been written, but the Hero part of it is fluid, as with all of TES games.

Dreddfell, Dreadfal..:
Nordic Female Assassin.
Alignment: "Evil"
Level: 20
Guardian Stone: The Warrior, but actually uses the Lord, which is in this set of constellations.
Factions/Guilds: Companions, Thieves' Guild (fired) Dark Brotherhood.
Most used skills: 2-hand, Sneak. That's pretty much it.
War Alligiance: Doesn't care, but killed the Emperor, and has a crush on Ulfric.
Married to: BFFE with Jenassa, unmarried.
Misc: She's basically a Bandit that thinks she's an Assassin. Uses a Greatsword, and calls it "Dagger, she's pretty much a parody of the Min/maxing "4 teh Evulz" gamer type. Started out a joke character, but I fell in love with her, partially because she's perfectly balanced for Adept. Never gets Over Powered. I've restarted about 5 times (Each with different spelling) to try out different skills, Light Armor, Archery, and combinations, but the final one is Unarmored, just 2H, and Sneak. She is not, nor has she ever been Dragonborn.

Elbereth:
Female High Elf Battlemage
Level 81
Guardian Stone: The Mage, uses the Atronach, which is under it.
Factions/Guilds: All of them, Herald of Meridia.
Most used skills: Conjuration, 1/2 Handed, Archery, Destruction.
War Alliance: Went with Empire, but turncoated with the Jagged Crown.
Misc: Started out Unarmored, then Light Armor, the Heavy. Used the Ebony Blade to transition from 1Handed to 2. The only 80 perk character I didn't save over, I managed to keep my interest by an impossible quest. The first one I took back Meridia's Beacon back with, she joined every Faction for access to every crypt to systematically hunt down, and destroy every single Draugr in Skyrim, and also any Necromancers, Skeletons, Dragon Priests... I'm currently redoing her from the start for Dawnguard, because the original is just too powerful...

Reaper0021

Steam: Reaper0021
I suffer from a rare disease called "Head-Up-Ass-Itis" so I have a short attention span and...11 characters to show for it from level 11-81. Yeah I need some prozac.

I feel you. I hate it! I've created like 20 characters. Sometimes I even restart a new character which I've spent an hour customizing, but then failed to pick wrong eyecolor etc.

Also, I like to play one questline with one character. I've never gotten to lvl 50 because of that. I find it hard to play a dragonborn/thief thingy. I get bored of my character after completing the first questiline I planned to do with him.

Now, however I'm already on 25 lvl mark! And I'm going for 50 alteast. Completed the main quest (1st time) and now going for the civilwar questiline (1st time too) Then maybe College of W. and sidequests :)

Spellsword suits my gameplay and seems nice to play many questilines with! (though this is already my 3rd spellsword, because I failed with perks earlier, hah)

I hope the next TES has a -notsogaging- mainquest. I don't want to be revealed as the dragonborn, while im playing an assassin. I also don't want to be the leader of all the guilds out there. I WANT MORE OPTIONS!

I am a quester by nature - so yeah I powered thru the quests - found all the locations, etc. got bored started a new character - then Dawnguard came out - reverted back to original character, quested thru Dawnguard - finished up second character - started a new one - Hearthfire and Dragonborn came out - rinse repeat. I do back up my characters on flash drives so that when DLCs come out I can play them thru to completion. But once I get "done" I don't really enjoy just wandering around killing the same dragon, drauger, bandit over and over and over again just to prove I'm a badass. :Dragonborn:
