You can sell it to the Theives Guild. Go do it. It's 2000gsp & its 20lbs less to carry!

those quest items are really a pain! I have a bow that I picked up in a dungeon (so and so's bow) which does very little damage and takes up 7 lbs, and have yet to discover the quest.

Thankyou for the like Ebony ;). 100th post btw****

I'm pretty sure theres no other way to get rid of it then.

@MichealF , I usually tend to leave stuff like that alone if its named & I'll eventually end up coming back to it.

This happens with many items, and it's really rediculous. The fact that quest items can't be dropped whilst you have that certain quest uncompleted is fair enough, but when you complete the quest and you still can't drop it makes me wonder why Bethesda haven't done something about it.

However, I know how to get rid of The Elder Scroll. Volsung said the Thieves Guild option, but as that's not applicable to you, if you travel to the College of Winterhold and go into The Arcanaeum, speak to the Orc who basically owns the library and there should be an option to give it him, in exchange for 2000 gold too.

This has to be my number 1 annoyance with Skyrim and Oblivion. I don't care if it is a 0 weight item or a 20+ one. If I have no need for it, I don't want to be packing it around.

If your on PC I'm sure there are console commands to drop it.
