I'm thinking about making a new character and I'd like to know if anyone has any experience with this style before.

Nord
Heavy Armor
2- handed weapons
Smithing
enchanting
conjuration

What i'm going for as an evil paladin type. Summon a few minions and proceed to smash enemies to bits with my big 2 handed weapons. I'm not going to be doing much combat casting, just summoning, so I'm going to be using heavy armor.

Anyone have any tips they'd like to share? Also, which stats should be upgraded? I'm not a big fan of upgrading stamina, so i figured 60%health/40%magicka would work.

Thanks!

So no Stamina? So you are not going to be able to carry anything and you will just be auto attack with no real power shots.

You might want to reconsider your position vis-a-vis stamina. Stamina lets you hit harder more times before you have to resort to just plinking away with your basic attack. It also lets you carry more loot. What you could do is craft some Fortify Conjuration armor/jewelry that would drastically reduce the cost of your conjuration spells, that way you wouldn't need to put much into Magicka (since all you will be doing is summon). Even better, for fights that you can prepare for, you can just summon everything you need, let your blue bar refill a bit, and then charge in. The you could make a 50 health/40 stam/10 magicka distribution and be much more effective. If you really feel you need more magicka, then drop one of the other stats by 10 and shift.

I would also recommend putting points into block. You won't block as well as you could with a shield, but the 5 basic points in block would still be a marked improvement.

I've gone with a similar build; heavy armor & melee based combat... over 48 levels, I think I've upgraded Magicka maybe 4x. The rest to health; not once to stamina; it remains at the base value.

Dimson's points are valid:

Yes, being over encumbered was a pain (the weightless armor perk later is a huge relief), but so long as you focus on a companion to share the load and buy a house early in the game, it's manageable.

The power moves are sometimes a concern; I get about 2 before exhausting my stamina. But it's rare that it takes much more to take out anything anyway, and between regular attacks, a maxed out armor protection and maybe carrying an occasional stamina potion, the build you suggest is very viable, as I've been quite successful with it.

Thanks for the help guys. I'm definitely going to follow your advice and invest a bit more heavily into stamina. As for block, I'm not sure because I've looked at the perk calculator and I don't see how I can fit the points in for block. Off to make an evil Nord conjuration warrior!

It depends on how high you want to level your character. I did this and you only had to go to level 52. http://skyrimcalculator.com/#21367

Let's kill someone!
I think it's either 51 or 81. I'm going with 51 though.

You can only spend 50 perks, but you can continue leveling after that.

Is the perk calculator accurate? Because I have heard different things about the level cap and the number of perks you get? Do you actually get 81 perks?

I was thinking about a making similar character because the conjuration weapons are pretty bad ass I'm not sure if I am going to go with light armour or heavy armour though...Probably a Redguard or High Elf...

50 perks, which takes you to level 51, since you don't get a perk at level 1.

when your skill levels up in somthing you get better at it, and perks are....well...perks... If you get your 50 perks into things it IS still work your while to level stuff as they do get better. Just no AS good as if you had perks in them.

I use a light armor Deathknight ((which now i regret)) mainly due for the speed and the stam regen perk I use 1h Conjured weapons and a conjured bow as well as bow perks and 1h perks

If you want more block perks (from the wiki site):

Players can block with two-handed weapons and the perks Shield Wall, Quick Reflexes, Power Bash, Deadly Bash, and Disarming Bash all apply to two-handed weapon combat.

Quick reflexes is powerful. Slow down time and get out of the way of an enemy's power attack.
