Can't find valdimar

Okay so as the title says, I can't find Valdimar. I became thane of Morthal, purchased the deed for the land and expected him to turn up there but he simply isn't. So I went back to Morthal into the Jarls house and he isn't ther either. Also I do have a steward. Does anyone know how to find him or is he just gone from the game?

I remember someone else I know having a similar issue, maybe it's a glitch?

He usually patrols your land up to about a 100 meters radius (I think) so check all over.
Do you have a house built? If not he might not show up until you do.

I had the same issue. When I became thane I had Lydia with me as follower. I purchased property and traveled there, built the small house and returned to Morthal to retrieve Valdimar to use as steward but he was nowhere to be found. Eventually I had to reload a save prior to becomming thane. Then I traveled to Whiterun, parted ways with Lydia, back to Morthal, became thane, told Valdimar to follow, brought him to the new property and made him steward....problem solved.

Valdimar might just be out adventuring because when I was walking away from Dawnstar 3 wolves attacked and there was someone fighting the wolves. I hadn't seen him since I became that thane (was a long time ago) so I had forgotten what he looked like. And that person that I had expected to be a hunter fighting the wolves turned out to be Valdimar. So apparently when you don't need him he guards your home or he adventures

Whenever I buy the Morthal property he just randomly shows up at some point. He'll show up - I think he goes off visiting the Strip Clubs in Solitude after he realizes that he doesn't have to hang in Morthal anymore.

I agree, I bought the deed and he didn't show up for quite some time. They always show up though. Either patrol the border of your property with Detect Life, or do a couple missions and look in the Jarl's cabin.

Oh my word, I have had this issue for ages! I don't recall dismissing Valdimar, nor if he might have been killed. For ages I was searching for him, all near the house, in Helgen and by Lakeview Manor (another forum suggested those places) but to no avail, so I tried the console command player.moveto xx00521B, but still nothing. I just went back into Windstand Manor and I FOUND HIM! He was sleeping in one of the upstairs beds.
Thought I'd add my two cents.
