So I have Skyrim for the xbox 360, and I decided recently I wanted to buy it for the pc. I found a copy on Amazon, and I'd rather buy that than get in on Steam. But it might not be that easy.
A few months ago, I bought Darksiders 2 on dvd specifically so I could avoid Steam. Immediately upon inserting the dvd into my computer, the installer prompted me to install Steam so I could then install the game on the dvd. If I want to play Darksiders 2, which I have on a dvd, I have to connect to Steam and login.
So my question is, does anybody here have Skyrim on dvd, and were you required to install Steam to use it? I don't want to get blindsided like that again, and I came up empty when I tried to find information on my own.
