I can't find too many Link Builds (Even Less Ganondorf) but I was excited to try it out. I'm posting this to get an opinion and/or if any Zelda fans have more suggestions as to what Skyrim items can play a role in Link's arsenal:
  • Race: I went Bosmer. At first I denounced this idea, and tried Nord; constant experimentation broadcasted that it wasn't worth it just for the light skin, blonde hair and blue eyes. The bosmer actually has facial similarities (in spite of a pretty terrible non-modded eye selection), pointy ears, and short stature. The racial bonus of + archery and sneak is all right, but I don't hold that dearly.
  • Attire: The standard green outfit, hood, and plain boots (I may go up to leather, but this build does not include Light Armor perks).
  • My personal build:
Skyrim Perk Calculator - Plan the perks for your Skyrim character before spending them!
  • To questions of the inclusion of destruction: Link does have a magic meter. Whether that expresses itself as Link himself having the ability to cast magic is unknown to me, but I honestly prefer that over using scrolls. Link has infinite access to spells such as Din's Fire (Firestorm) Farore's Wind (Quick Travel) and Nayru's Love (Become Ethereal). There are those as well as Bombos and Ether (Firestorm and the IceStorm spell), and the Fire and Ice Rods (Fire and Ice Staves). The lack of bombs in this game allow for the usage of runes to act somewhat as bombs, at least in my opinion.
  • To questions of the inclusion of Two-Handed paired with One-Handed: Yeah, it's sort of tricky and you're normally going to be using one over the other in combat. Master Sword requires one-handed; this is a given. Megaton, Magic, Skull hammers as well as Biggoron's and Fairy Swords require Two-Handed. It isn't exactly necessary, but it makes sense in regards to Link's abilities.
  • Arsenal: Link has a lot of gimmicky items, from a lot of different games. He should, if possible, carry around:
  • A torch
  • 2 Staves; 1 fire, 1 frost (if elemental bows are out, keep these away)
  • Sun Fire Arrows (Light Arrows)
  • 4 Bows: 1 fire, 1 frost 1 regular(?), Auriel’s (no if elemental staves) Call them “Fairy Bows”
  • Magelight out (Navi coverage)
  • Potions of Restore Health, Magicka, Stamina
  • A Magic Defensive Shield dubbed “Mirror Shield” (Resist Magic//Resist Magic II)
  • A sky forge steel sword enchanted called “Master Sword” (Turn Undead/Banish)
  • A Dwarven two-handed hammer named “Megaton Hammer” (Paralysis)
  • Insert 2H sword here named “Biggoron’s Sword”
  • Iron Boots (?) for the character?
  • A brownish red horse
  • A flute
  • The masks of the Dragon Priests (Majora’s mask)
  • Use of the shout “Become Ethereal” (Nayru’s Love effect)
  • Master Level Fire Destruction for Din's Fire and/or Bombos
  • Fast Travel = Farore's Wind
  • Master Level Frost spell is for Ether
  • Water-breathing helmet(?)
  • Emerald/Silver Pendant (Courage) Fortify Block (Stamina 2nd)
  • Ruby/Gold Pendant (Power) Fortify One-handed (2H 2nd)
  • Sapphire/Silver Pendant (Wisdom) Fortify Magicka (Health 2nd)
  • Whirlwind Sprint (Pegasus Boots)
  • Dragon Aspect Shout (Magic Armor)
As a side note: I thought len's of truth could be detect life or deadbut illusion isn't incorporated in this build.
I also heard of a new spell called "Whirlwind Cloak" that sends enemies flying. I was thinking of how to incorporate this; it seems Zelda-esque.

Do's and Don'ts for this build:
  • No lock-picking; Link requires keys (lol)
  • Obviously no random slayings or law breakings
  • Join Dawnguard, Blades, Companions (Not for the wolf, but hey, that works I guess)
  • No partners - have magelight out a lot.
  • I can't think of anything else really.
Any other thoughts would be appreciated or something.

You seem to have everything down really. Its interesting how you've really thought it all out. However, to be completely fair I think its redundant to have both one handed and two handed. If you feel its more connected to the lore of Link, perhaps think about how Link consistently has to do 3 other things in many of his games. In majoras mask and minish cap hes transforming/using and aid that is unworldly, so perhaps some low level conjuration? Hes also searching/putting together several items... so perhaps some smiting? and finally he does always seem to have, or know about potions, so alchemy isn't a bad trait. Not bad to ponder upon.

The one-handed two-handed bit is very redundant, but I like the feel for some reason. For roleplay purposes it seems to work, but like you (and even I) think, it is useless in a sense of utility. Still, using a hammer called "Megaton" on enemies to paralyze them is pretty fun.

I never considered conjuration; I still don't exactly like it, but then I've never played Minish Cap so I'm ignorant and biased. Smithing and Alchemy are both in my "additional skills" thoughts. I will have quite a few perks left over if ever I reach 81. I've actually been playing this build, and it's pretty challenging.

I would just spec 1Hand / Block, pull out Volendrung once in a while for the hammer, and drop the Big Goron's Sword entirely as it was never very integral to the Zelda series. I don't think sneak is very closely tied to Zelda either, besides a few missions in Wind Waker. Werewolf would be cool to transform into when you entered Daedric realms like the Soul Cairn or Apocrytha (like the Twilight Realm). Firestorm is a good choice for Din's Fire. I would use Auriel's shield because it's fun and there aren't really any kite shields that really fit Link. You could use the shield charge spring to emulate a rolling Goron attack. You could put on different dragon priest masks then act like zora, goron, or deku link. Morokei for zora, Volsung for Goron, and of course wooden for deku. Paralyze spells could be deku nuts. The new shout "cyclone" in Dawnguard could emulate the wind boomerang in Twilight Princess.

Now we'll know how hard it is for Link to carry all of his stuff around =P

Could be a very fun build IMO. I love Zelda, but am limited to the OG, maybe 2, I think I played Ocarnia of Time, and a Wii title (something princess?).

I for one would suggest against 2 handed. I still picture link from the original, running around with a one handed sword and a shield.

Love that you stuck him with a flute.

I don't recall the Pegasus Boots, but I think Whirlwind Sprint could also double for the Clawshot to a degree.

I would loose the two handed perks (Only because I don't recall playing a Zelda game that he had a two handed sword).

I would suggest some speechcraft. Wasn't there haggling or at least a reference to haggling in the Original?

Happy to see the creativity!

Do you remember playing a deku scrub? I think no enchantments fits... ya know, cause it was really, really weak.

I do remember playing the deku scrub. One item I can imagine fitting is Ahzidal's Boots of Waterwalking, if you recall that water-hopping technique from Majora's Mask.

But yeah, the wooden mask is the most matching. Maybe if there was a mask that gave you the ability to shoot bubbles.

You should do a Ganondorf build too! Pure mage orc build.

You're right; I have a Ganondorf build perked out. He's Altmer (I needed the height, and it just so happens you can get a really accurate facial/hair structure down too). Pure Destruction, Heavy Armor, Illusion, Enchanting, etc. I was thinking of going unarmed too, as in the instance he runs out of Magicka; it's a shame it doesn't have its own tree.

I even have a Zelda, Sheik, and Zelda/Sheik build perked out, but I don't know if I'm going to touch that for awhile.

It's sort of a mess of a build, since it combines different titles into one build (e.g. the Pegasus boots are from "A Link to the Past"; you hold the run button and you charge forward at a high speed. It isn't exactly like Whirlwind Sprint but....) The two-handed is for Biggoron,Megaton,Fairy Sword, etc. And Speechcraft... well.. Link is a silent warrior.. so I sort of ignored that.

Yes, and YEEESSS!!! Bubble shooting wooden mask would be epic and a lot of fun to play with.

If you could smith the wooden sword from Hearthfire enough (ideal for PC commands) it would make a great sword for a child Link.

for Link, I have better solution, it will take a while, but it is worth it. So, here's what you will need for the look(clothes and shield) and easy ways to get them.
-for the clothes have Faendal be a follower, take all his weapons, and kill him, or let him die in some way.
-for the cowl, they can sometimes be found in the radiant raiment.
-for the shield, i recommend a falkreath guard's shield with some enchantment, and call it a hylian shield.
- dawngaurd gauntlets, which are easily found at the dawngaurd hq.
-imperial light boots with fortisy carry weight

next, for weapons, get these:
-Champion's cudgel
-stahlrim bow and a variety of swords (steel being the ordon sword, imperial being the captain's, glass being the goddess longsword, chillrend being goddess whitesword, silver being magic sword, dragonbone being for a ganondorf build, and stahlrim being true or regular master sword)
-a dwarven greatsword or bloodskal blade
-a crossbow (for anyone wanting to do my Link's crossbow training challenge, made by myself)
-lots and lots of arrows/bolts!

for horses, it will need to be any horse with a palomino coat, which are found in solitude's stables.
I also recommend getting a good amount of heavy/light armor perks, waterbreathing enchantment for the cowl, and perks for all magic and weapons based skills. This is what I did, and it looked amazing and works best as a Nord (of course).
