PC mod problems - dark face bug

Hi. Has any definitive way been found to deal with dark face bug? Particularly for bandits and vampires?

I'm currently using Special Edition. I use LOOT. I also use the CTRL F4 method in the Creation kit. Still have this annoying problem. I even deleted Total Character make-over . Any other options? Any other mods known for being culprits?

this one has had that problem many of times, its go to do with mods that introduce
Usually it's load order problem, in game, enter console and click npc with dark face, see at the bottom right what ESP that modified that character, in your load order move that esp to higher position (higher than your NPC replacer's ESP)

I had the same problem using a mod that gave some of the main NPC there own unique armors, regardless of what loot would sort the load order out would place this mod in the wrong position letting other mods over wright it, at the end of the day the solution was to move the mod higher in the load order.

Thanks. I had been thinking that LOOT got something wrong. But how do you override LOOT?

Dumb question....is there a thread on this board where favorite mods are discussed? Perhaps a list of ones to get and ones to avoid?
