I've played the Bethesda series starting with Morrowind, then Oblivion and now, Skyrim.. And i have to say... Skyrim is by far the most disappointing for mages.. There was one thing in both Morrowind and Oblivion that made being a mage worthwhile far into the game.. and that was fricken SPELL ALTERS >_< there was nothing quite like saving all of my money to make 1 spell that i could cast once in a while but would destroy anything and everything.. Now in Skyrim, you get lvl 100 destruction and that's as far as you go in the game spell-wise.. So after like lvl 20 once I got lvl 100 destruction all the fun and excitement of being a mage was done with.. I could cast a cool little blizzard or shoot lightning out of my hands that didn't have any practical purpose really, when compared to plain old lightning bolt or ice shard..

As well, the spell variety is dull.. the fact that there are 3 ultimate spells for each attribute is a nice idea, but that's like making 3 awesome swords. Once you have it there's nothing else to find, there's no excitement to searching dungeons anymore no hopes of finding the next best thing! I'm sure there are others that can agree with me, and if bethesda does get a chance to see this, please, consider a spellmaking alter!!!

My idea for it would be much like the old ones, but i realize with dual casting it could add a whole new aspect to making spells which would be fricken awesome!! Initial spells could have a base damage/area/dot or w/e and then dual casting could add unique things to the spell. Take for instance a simple spell as fireball you could create. Normal casting, it would be your typical fireball, some amount of damage to a single target. However, you could add a dual casting perk of some-sort which would maybe set the target on fire for longer, split off when it hits the target, create an explosion, knockback, etc...

What i'm trying to say is that swordsman and bowman have always been able to find a better sword or bow and in the old Elder Scrolls, the mage could always make a better spell. This has been taken out of Skyrim, and i say this for me and the other mages of Skyrim!!! Give us our spellmaking alter!!!

There are dual casting perks for destruction magic. Firstly, simultaneous dual casting say, a firebolt will produce one single firebolt that is stronger than the two individual left and right hand firebolts combined. Plus, there is a perk that staggers most or i think ALL opponents (including dragons, yes, it staggers dragons) when you use this... but you are right.. the ability to create spells would have been awesome and I was disappointed when I realized this ability was no longer available in Skyrim.

I realize that dual casting already adds some perks.. but i think that being able to give multiple bonuses through creating the spells yourselves would be cool! And the most dissapointing thing is still that once you hit lvl 100 in an area, there's nothing more for you to do with it =/ nothing more to find..

I don't know man,There were only 3 or 4 destruction animations in oblivion and I found it extremely redundant after a short while. I thought Skyrim's spells were a huge improvement over Oblivions system since it was so easy to wipe any trace of life off the face of the world in that game. Now the clothes for mages is a bit disappointing.... But that's another subject lol

I just think that in oblivion you could find a better spell, or make a better spell.. i've gotten to level 100 destruction, gotten the master lvl spells, and it's just not fun anymore! I feel like i've "beaten the game" of being a mage, there's nothing else for me to aspire to get!

There's more to magic than destruction bro. Conjuration is extremely fun and rewarding, As well as enchanting, but if you get REALLY bored you can always make another character..or 3 in my case :p I shift characters as my mood changes lol.

i have 100 in all the mage areas, (except restoration) and imo i haven't gotten more than 50% through what i would have played in morrowind or oblivion! Conjuration is fun ya, lifetime minions, but even still there's nothing beyond that point, nothing beyond those 3 master level spells =/

sounds like you need to make a new character, you're burned out on magic. I play my characters in rotationso I don't get bored as easily.

Theres alot for mages, so much, even small missions to get your master spells. Wtf you want more lol. Even they have so many diff colours and looks.

And I dont think we have to talk about oblivion....these crummy spell animations and casting w weapons holding ?? Everything looked same in oblivion, mage, warrior, all same, no special clothes very much. You actually get everything here. But I guess the more you get the more the people want :p

I was hoping that there would be a spell weaving type thing implemented. where as i have Icy Spike in one hand and thunderbolt in the other, I wanted to be able to Dual Cast those for Both effects, Incinerate/Thunderbolt. shoot thats what i was wanting, I was a tad disappointed that you could only dual cast same school spells
