After spending nearly 100 hours playing Skyrim without any problems whatsoever, I've come across the glitch of DOOM!

I'm at Kodlak's funeral waiting for everyone to finish paying their respect, then Aela goes to light the torch and FREEZE!!!! The game just stalls out of nowhere :/ I've searched over the net for a fix and I've come across a few others who have the same problem but have no solution as well. I tried deleting my game data and updates, then re-installed them but still the same problem. I've tried freeing up memory on my PS3 by deleting saved games from other titles as well, same thing happens. It's really starting to annoy me and I'm on the verge of trading it in for another game, but don't want to as I thoroughly enjoy Skyrim.
If anyone can give help on this matter, it would be greatly appreciated.

Is the game actually freezing or are the NPCs simply standing there not moving?

The freezes where people are deleting data and update information as a solution have to do with being underwater or in an area with lots of water.

I have the same problem. I eventually gave up on that quest line and just continued to play the game elsewhere. But now I've came to another quest, "The Fallen", where I'm supposed to speak to the Jarl of Whiterun. Since the Jarl is still at the skyforge for the funeral, I have the same problem. I cant speak to the Jarl because it says he is busy, and it still freezes as soon as Aela lights the fire. Did you ever find a way to solve the problem or did you trade in Skyrim? The only thing I can think to do that you haven't tried is to restart the game from the beggining but I'm on level 36 and don't really want to do everything again. I may have the same problem once I get back to Glory of the Dead the second time. Please, if anyone could help it would be awesome of you to do so. Thanks

Do you mind? I'm busy doing the fish stick!
Have you maybe tried leaving whiterun and going in again? or just entering a building and then leaving? Maybe sprinting towards aela and knocking her a little might spring her back into action? I've never come across this glitch/bug myself, so not quite sure what to suggest. Try fast travelling to whiterun stables, then entering the city on foot, too, if you haven't tried those things.
I hate it when you enjoy a game, but little things like annoying bugs and glitches ruin it. Unfortunately skyrim is very buggy and glitchy, but I hope you manage to sort it out. I know how annoying it is.

Do you have an older save you could go back to? Maybe go to a save that's 30-60 mins of game-play time before the 'funeral' scene and go do other quests before you go back. Keep lots of saves while you are testing getting around the glitch.
I recently had a constant CTD issue just north of froki's shack. I probably had 20 test saves as I was trying different things to get around it. Eventually I found the area that was CTDing to be a small area that I was able to completely circle around. I almost got frustrated enough to nuke the game saves and completely reinstall skyrim when I just decided to kill everything living in that area with my bow (from rabbits to the imperial camp nearby). A couple save games later I was able to run through that area without issues, salvaging my 150+ game hour save.

It's much better to lose 1 hour of game time by going to an earlier save than to restart a game you've got 150+ hours in already.

This is true, actually. More saves = Less quest youre going to have to reply. I try to save as often as I can and it helps in the long run. Honestly, I killed Aela, who was my wife, by accident, and i didnt have a recent save to go back in time before she died. So saving helps.
