The Frightened Woman

The woman you meet randomly who warns you about the bandits she escaped from at Mistwatch. Today I bumped into her while I was on my way to Rorikstead shortly after clearing out Soljunds Sinkhole. So, she ran all that way without meeting a single soul? There are a few towns and castles between here and there, and I never get very far without meeting any bandits, soldiers, hunters, traveling nobles, vigilants of Stendaar, Lying khajiits or wandering bards. I'm not sure if she's very lucky or unlucky!

What odd locations have you encountered the Frightened Woman?

I've encountered her everywhere from in the mountains outside Solitude to WAAAAYYYY out on the coast by Dawnstar.

What I don't understand is why she always runs off in the opposite direction to whatever nearby town there is.

Have any1 ever tried to follow her after you "show her the directions"? Just curious.

I've run into her just outside of Riften, and she ran away from the city.

I've killed her several times, cause she'll startle me in the forest in the middle of the night. Don't run up on me while I'm stalking vampires.

I suppose you gave her directions to Oblivion, then.

She was dumb enough to get directions from someone who just crossed the border, my own character needed directions to Whiterun from Riverwood and that is a straight path.

The very first time I ran into her was just outside Winterhold. I looked all over that part of the map trying to figure out where Mistwatch is. Couldn't find it. I assumed it was a glitch and it failed to get marked on the map when it was supposed to be. Only later I noticed it way WAY south of there, almost clear across the province. Like, lady, how did you even manage to get up there without going by Windhelm?

This woman does not sound familiar . Is it possible in my hundreds of hours gaming I never met her ?

I do prefer to take the wagon between towns .

You've probably just forgotten. She's not very memorable, and encounters with her are brief. Though yeah, if you always ride a carriage between towns, you're unlikely to run into her.

I met her again at the start of my current playthrough. Shortly after I first got to Riverwood, I went south of the town to hunt deer for hides and look for alchemy ingredients, and she came running up to me. I told her where the nearest town is, and she proceeded to run off in the precise opposite direction. Lol. We were just southwest of Riverwood, and she turned and ran southwest from there. I guess she would reach Falkreath eventually.
