Imperials or Stormcloaks, what one?

While both factions have their glaring problems, I have a tendency to side with the Imperial Legion, reasons being the following.

-Ulfric seems like he's being extremely short-sighted here. I'd be more interested in trying the full Stormcloak line again if there was... more to the side? He just always comes off to me like the guy who'd win the war then you'd ask what to do next and he'd reply, "Well I don't know. Didn't think I'd get this far."
-Frankly, I think the whole Talos thing is a guise to give Ulfric an excuse to attack so he could possibly become High King. Like yes, I recognize it as a legit issue but I think he's taking advantage of it.
-The Empire is better organized and has better planning, and their leadership seems more open to change. Tullius is a good example, as he shows some distaste for Skyrim at the start of the quest line but expresses growing interest in the province as it goes on, and I believe he even expresses interest in retiring there or moving there when he's on leave or something?
-A lot of Stormcloak supporters in-game and the players kind of remind me of single-issue voters irl. And while the issues are important, the effects of your decision there could affect a bunch of other things negatively.
-I know it's old news saying that the Stormcloaks are nauseatingly racist, but that was a pretty big factor for me.
-Legate Rikke literally is her own reason that I decided to side with the Legion. She embodies a lot of strong positive features and I really like her ideas and ideals.
-When you're escaping Helgen. If you follow Hadvar, he expresses interest in trying to reason with the Stormcloaks while Ralof just encourages you to attack and kill the Imperials.
-The Jarls play a big part in it too. The only instance of me liking a Stormcloak Jarl better than the Imperial one was liking Dengeir better than Siddgeir, but who doesn't hate Siddgeir? And I have mixed feelings about Laila vs Maven, but frankly Laila came off to me as kind of an idiot and Maven... isn't.
-Another one in relation to the Jarls, but I love Brunwulf Free-Winter and being able to put him into power made me way happier than it should have.

Long story short, I don't trust Ulfric Stormcloak as far as I could throw him and I kiss the ground Legate Rikke and Brunwulf Free-Winter walk on.

How do you backstab a Dragon?
Problem is Solitude where I have the worst bounty is Imperial controlled due to Emperor quest for DB. So may side with Stormcloaks and due civil war quest after DB/TG to get free pass.
So you would side with a bunch of xenophobic wackjobs to take down the capital of a Province just to escape having to take responsibility for your own actions? Hmm...

In case I haven't said so recently - I kind of like your totally amoral, free-for-all approach to the game. I haven't done it for years and this kind of makes me miss it! :)

Well since I dislike both factions, I decided to do the TG and DB quests first. Then I can kill at will any who oppose me then hide gold and gear in DB pad after done the quests. Figure spend a time in jail without losing gold or gear before start civil war or main quest lines. Being a badass assassin is winner take all cutthroat mentality and very much like playing fantasy version of GTA! Love it.

I choose to remain neutral. My character accepts odd jobs as a mercenary/hero for hire and finds travel easier without soldiers breathing down her neck. As a khajiit, it's a lose/lose situation anyway.

I paid my bounties since doing both DB and TG quests netted me serious cash so would most likely side with Imperials as when I played both times, the Stormcloaks always attack me first.

Yeah I found out the hard way you are FORCED by the game to pick a side and do the civil war quest line before finishing the main quest line which sucks. I hate both sides but picked Imperial as they are not as big of douche bags as the Stormcloaks.

There's only one hell, the one we live in now.
The Imperials imo. Stormcloaks are too racey for my liking and also their victory helps the Thalmor most.

While I joined Imperials, I did make sure to kill tons of Thalmor and Imperial soldiers before joining. I especially hate the Elsif the Fair bitch in Solitude. God I hate that city with a passion.

You don't have to pick a side. If you get to that part of the game you can always call a meeting for a temporary truce.

True well I did the truce after completing the side battle for whiterun as imperial member. Just finished main quest line so will have to figure out what side quests to finish now. Really enjoyed the TG/DB and mage guild quests since they give some sweet loot and free homes too as well as a free horse Shadowmere!

Sybille Stentor says it the best : "Talos the god was once Tiber Septim the man, and this is his Empire." I've only gone Stormcloak once among the dozen plus characters I've made just to see the story, and immediately loaded a save from before picking a side. I haven't spent the last four games trying to save the Empire only to now hasten it's fall. Plus, you know, Balgruuf is my main bro.

Neither are great options, I think most of us know they both have their positives and negatives just like in real like. It's not black and white and just depends on what you believe in.

Imperials... a bunch of overzealous pansies, if you ask me. Certainly claim that they're doing what they do for the greater good, but are they really? They're more likely to execute a man without trial than to actually pursue individual freedoms. Without their claim of the moral high ground, Imperials are nothing but scarlet clad pigs with propaganda drooling down their chin. Change the color of their shirts and you'd confuse them with Thalmor if not given a second look.

Quick puff off of pipe

As opposed to the Stormcloaks, who could easily be mistaken for apes?
