Hi peeps,

I've been trying to figure out exactly what I need to buy in order to play this game on a new built-for-gaming PC. Basically, I want the latest - Dragonborn - but it seems I must already own Skyrim V.

Q1. Is that correct? If so, it's not a problem (I hope).

Q2. I'll be moving out of the city to the wilds of a secluded Atlantic cove soon. I won't have internet - it's virtually an "off-grid" situation. So I need to be able to play standalone. If online activation is required, I can do that before I go. But after that, I'm gonna be cut off. Is what I'm looking for possible?

Q3. If so, what version of the PC DVD do I need?

Q4. Where can I buy this in the UK? Or import it from the USA?

Thanks for your time and eyeballs.

Take care.

Beau.

If you are going to be virtually cut off from internet then I wouldn't suggest a downloaded version like from Steam. You won't have access to any updates, or be able to mod it. And if something went wrong, you'd be screwed if you needed to reinstall it.

Go for a hard copy and play vanilla. At least until you are able to come back to civilization again.

Dragonborn, Hearthfire, and Dawnguard are all expansions to Skyrim, which means they add content, but they rely on the base game in order to run.

If you buy the Legendary Edition you get all the DLCs included with it. You do have to have Steam and activate it online, but you should be able to play offline with no issue.

You can also buy it from Amazon UK.

If you wait until Friday or Saturday, you'll be able to buy the Special Edition, which also comes with all DLC (Dragonborn, Hearthfire, and Dawnguard), and remastered quality throughout.

Thank you, shadowkitty and Cordella. I'm indebted to your both. Much appreciation for the tip to wait till the weekend. I can get it, install it (ha!), register with Steam, activate it, then get the hell away from the bullseye.

One way or another, heaven here I come...

Thanks again. Take care.

Beau.

*Sovengard, friend. Sovengard awaits you, with great feasts, great heroes, and great mead.

If you get the legendary edition now at a decent price, PC players get the remastered version for free (if they already have base game and all dlcs which comes with legendary edition), so why (possibly) pay more for the remaster if you get it for free?

I bought the legendary edition for PC (after sinking 500+ hours into the 360 version) after I found out about the free upgrade. It happened to be 50% off at the time :D
