"Call me by whatever suits you, but I most often go by Vol."

    "Vol, huh? Interesting name."

Another figure heads into the tavern, having followed Vol. "Vol, stop running off like that! Last thing I need is for you to get Sanguinaris Vampiris or some other nasty disease." Huffs a thinner-framed greenish Khajiit with orcish warpaint on, tusks, and orange-reddish layered hime-cut hair. Wearing her usual green robes, gold-emerald circlet, and Amulet of Mara. Lazgl gra-Narzulbur was her name, and she was half orc. Huzzah.

Vol was about to respond when the newcomer burst in, ranting about how Vol was going to get sick. Vol blushed slightly as the angered Khajiit hybrid stormed in,

"Hello to you as well," he muttered. "Lazzie, we're in Whiterun, what could happen? Besides, you know Isran doesn't have me doing anything for the Dawnguard. He doesn't trust me." Vol paused for a moment,

"Can I even get San...Sangui...whatever it is?" It felt like a foolish question to ask, especially to the Dawnguard's most esteemed healer, but there weren't any tomes published on the subject, especially in regard to Vol's unique situation.

Britton decided to answer. "Rare chance, but even that rare chance can be gotten rid of if you have enchanted things on you." Britton pulled out a Banded Iron Shield, and then some bread dough. He flattened it out over his shield and then put his shield over the fire, to heat it up.
(Fun fact, in the 6th century BC, the soldiers in Persian King Darius I's armies baked flatbreads with cheese and dates on top of their battle shields. This is what Britton is basically doing right now.)

Vol nodded, grateful for the response. He knew little of the disease, despite his involvement in the Dawnguard, save for the fact that it manifested no signs until the infected person became a fully fledged vampire.

From what he understood, Vampirism was difficult to catch, and with an Argonian's blood, one should have a strong resistance to disease.

Well, that's how it worked normally. Speaking from an Argonian standpoint, Britton wasn't wrong.

Vol shook his head, if it were only so simple. His blood wasn't entirely Argonian. To be honest, he wasn't sure exactly what his blood was. In a natural birth, he would be half Argonian. But what of the magic?

Vol shook the thought from his head. It was easier to call himself...Ah, what was it? Agondra?

Lazzie had invented the name, and while it didn't answer a lot of questions, it was easier to call himself that than...nevermind.

Vol shifted uncomfortably. It was too hot next to the fire with his coat on. But he would choose being uncomfortably warm that starting an uproar.

    He hoped Lazzie wouldn't notice.

Vol nodded, "Yes. No. Maybe. I don't know."

He paused, resting his head in his hands. He groaned inwardly, hating the fact that this was coming up...again.

"What do you know of Dragons?" He asked shyly.

Kivuli nods. "Yep. Best a dragon in battle, and he likely will become your ally until he sees you be bested."

Lazzie just sits down next to Vol. "Can't stop me from worrying about ya." She purrs. "Isran may doubt you, but I don't doubt you."

Vol nodded, dragon politics - if they could be called that - were primitive at the best of times. Even so, Britton seemed to know a bit about dragon language. Vol planned to press the subject further when Lazzie sat down next to him, attempting to comfort Vol.

"Thanks," he said, giving her his best attempt at a smile. Which probably looked more threatening than grateful.

He would never understand why Lazzie decided to follow him. She could earn ten times the gold Vol made in a year working for the Dawnguard.

Strange cat, that one, Vol mused.

He turned his attention back to the fire, watching it's many tongues dance, swirling plumes of smoke rising from their surfaces.

"Britton, Kivuli, what do you know of Dovahzul?"

Britton looked at him. "The dragon language... Dragons, the Greybeards, the Dragonborn... They can all use it. They can use it to blast people back, they can breathe fire with it, I heard there's a shout that can bend people and even DRAGONS to their will. And I also heard that the very environment trembles when people speak the language."

Kivuli nods. "That they can. Greybeards are the masters of the Voice. Is no secret amongst the Stormcloaks that Kivuli knows one."

Lazzie stares at Kivuli in surprise. "No way! You can use the dovahzul?"

    "Just 3 of them."

Britton looked at Kivuli. "Well, then I guess I can say I've used the Thu'um myself. Really, I've mainly used Unrelenting Force. It's just so satisfying to send a group of bandits off the side of a cliff using that Shout."

"Marked for Death is Kivuli's only known, yet also favored, Thu'um. Kill, Leech, Suffer. Weakens a foe before her dagger or spell even hits its mark. Though with her ease in learning it, she wonders if she can learn other Thu'ums so easily. After all, Unrelenting Force sounds like such fun." ^_^

Lazzie eyes the two in surprise. "Do you think you guys could teach me?"

"Hm, a healer like yourself...perhaps Aura Whisper? Maybe Unrelenting Force or even Whirlwind Sprint would do you good."

Vol nodded, interrupting, "The Thu'um is a vital part of Dovahzul. The ability to turn su'um, breath, into power. But, magic never obeys. Lu neh thaar."

Vol paused, keeping his voice steady and calm, "I ask you, do you know what 'Vol' means in Dovahzul? It means 'Horror.' There is a reason I go by this name. A reason I wear a coat by the fire. A reason why I have too many horns for an Argonian."

Vol stood up and cast his coat aside, revealing the wings folded against his back. He strecthed them, each wing joint popping loudly.

He lowered his voice, staying as calm as he could. "I was born a Dragon. In the far reaches of Winterhold. I spent a few summers there. Until a coven of Hagravens decided to use me for an experiment. In much the same way a man turns to Werewolf, I was turned into Argonian. But only halfway."

Vol sighed, "There was an accident, and I it's only survivor. I can no longer shout. I can no longer fly. And I am no longer Ahvulon. Now, I am an abomination. A horror. I am Vol."

"That is why I asked such a seemingly simple question about Vampirism."

Vol stood uneasily, awaiting the others responses.

Kivuli just gets up and thoroughly inspects Vol. "How curious, yet how cruel an act done upon you. However, abomination is a bit big a claim. After all, you are not the only half-Argonian in the room."

Lazzie also gets up, one hand behind her back and grabbing hold of her orcish dagger just in case anyone attacked Vol. He was her friend, whether he liked it or not, so she wasn't gonna just sit by and let anything use him as a combat dummy.

    Brittonbubba

    Argonian Foreigner
Britton looked at him. "To call yourself an abomination would be wrong. I look at what's inside, not outside... And I say you aren't an abomination... The real abominations would be the ones who would kill others for being different..."

Kivuli gives Britton a quick glare, having a feeling of whom he was implying that of. "For the record, Kivuli is only with the Stormcloaks because she believes in what they believe in. Religious freedom."

Something new slips into the inn, silent as a churchmouse. Was just stopping in real quick to get out of the sunlight. His nocturnal-aligned eyes couldn't stand the brightness.
