Okay I thought about it for a long time on the building of my character.

Illusion skill tree just takes up so many perks but is it worth the deal? for an assassin /theif character?

I usually just go for wood elf as you all know. But wood elves are great Assassin /theives.

But I am unsure about illusion I mean it's quick to use but takes up so many perks I mean gosh.
So I try not to over complicate things with perks as I have to be decided entirely .

It takes so many levels to get the invisiblility spell it's crazy.

let me know what you think?

the thing with illusion is that if you want a quick boost in perks and to exploit the game MUFFLE is the skill to use, as to the rest of the perks ...........bellow is this ones personal opinion.

like you said
jonathan in your own words "but takes up so many perks I mean gosh."

you have to pore in a lot of work & perks just to do things that you can achieve by taking a potion or enchanting a armor .......example of this is Invisibility, you can make or buy a potion of invisibility and you don't have to wait to get to a very high level to have enough magic to be able to cast the spell in the first place ......

as for MUFFLE the Sneak Sill tree will offer you a permanent 50% muffle ...........witch you can also achieve by enchanting some boots too.

BUT ........where it has the greatest benefit ......is

if your doing a pacifist build where you trying NOT to fight and just want to pass under the radar

perks like calm & pacify & fear are perfect for this build .......if you are a bit shifty you can use the FURY spell that makes NPC attack other NPC ........who will ever know? ........hehehe

Just That Illusion takes up so many perks But by gosh it's worth it.
you do not just use one spell like invisibility or muffle .

There is a entire load heap of spells you can use with Illusion.
And That's why I am thinking it is worth the deal But do not invest in Illusion perks you do not need just use the perks you do need.

pacafist I am not sure what that means lol

A pacifist believes war and violence are never justified.

I read up on a good nightstrider build to a full on Assassin build and I like the idea of a pure Assassin build combined with a theif build.
so I looked and reviewed the night strider build and it's just fluffin perfect with the Assassin / theif build so I am going to try out this build with my wood elf. And illusion spells are fantastic with these builds.

wish me luck. :)

One use I can think of is calm. If you get the perks that make it work on higher level characters, then it may be useful for when you blow your cover... or to prevent others from reacting to your presence.

DON'T EXPECT SPOILER WARNINGS FROM ME
Probaby an unpopular opinion here, but.... I think it's essential. And special, since you should go for it last (before smithing/emchanting tho).
I prefer casting spell for invisibility rather than drinking potion, cause there's no feeling of drinking bleach.
Joke's aside, you guys have the point about everything you said.

Here's what i think about it taking so
much perks. In short, i dont see it as a big problem. As an assassin, i see myself going only for essential damage perks (overdraw, or armsman and some other useful ones). As for sneak, i go for full tree just for fun, but basicly, no more than assassins blade/bow is needed. All in all, not much perks are needed. That leaves room for illusion.
Most important part, no armor. It becomes useless at certan point. After about 30lvls, you wont be engaging open combat at all. And if u do, there are plenty of deal with the situation.

Remember, as master assassin it is your romance to use all skills at your disposal, so dont hold back even aginst small fry!

I use DB armor set for a realy long time, then just switch to Jester's/Cicero's clothes.

In summary, whole point is preserving perks so i could get full illusion set without perk issues (no master perk, spells are rarely handy). Illusion is skill tree that offers you most manuvers. But, the real con is that u need one deep mana pool. Fair trade, i quess.

Personally I like the Mourner's Clothing that you can get at Radiant Raiment. All black, easy to enchant, easy on the eyes and looks fierce! I always feel like a superhero in the DB armor and the robes are just silly. Bellbottoms? Really?

Indeed, most powerful equipement is self-enchanted one. But its all so trublesome to get enchntement high enough, i hate it. Plus, jester's clothes have that wicked aura with em, i just love it!

I've never played an assassin character, or at least really played one whole hardheartedly and immersively speaking. But, I would say no. UNLESS you're playing a magical assassin player. Thinking about it, yeah sure, muffle sounds good, but it only works for a certain duration, and if you have a bow drawn, you'll have to put that thing away, and pull the spell out, as opposed to simply investing in a stealth perk that makes you less detectable permanently. Now if you primarily use a one handed dagger or something, than sure, stealthy battlemage seems good, but honestly, investing in the Magic tree of illusion (for a non magic based build) while playing an assassin just seems odd, and will probably be a waste of perk points, just my opinion of course. :D

(Most of what I said is really only relevant if you roleplay your character builds and stick to certain perks and skill trees for your specific type of character.)
