Ok so heard last night that Skyrim is getting the upgrade and being placed on PS4 and Xbox One They said on BE3 that it would have better graphics and much more. Here is my question does that mean that I have to go out and buy this game again?? Even though I have it on the Xbox360. Are they not making it backwards compatible ?
Any thoughts???I saw on amazon you can preorder it for $40 usd.

The point of releasing a remastered edition is that it has been, so far, unavailable on current gen consoles (PS4 and Xbox One). The reason it's not backwards compatible is mostly because the original game already exists on those platforms, so they would have no reason to re-release it for those platforms. Especially because the remastering takes advantage of the hardware advances within the Xbox One and PS4. Graphically, the 360 and PS3 would be unable to benefit from a remastered game, as the original was already taking advantage of what those two systems had to offer.

So, the answer is, yes, but only if you want Skyrim on your next-gen system, or if you want access to mods on console, or if you want to play the remastered game and experience the other content they may have added to it. Yes, you would have to buy another copy.

Otherwise, no. You already have it, and games don't expire, so you could happily continue playing on your 360 just as you have been.

My boyfriend when and bought me a PS3 a while ago because our old one broke when I brought up, a few times, that I missed Skyrim. So I have no problem buying the game again. Plus mods on PS4. I'm really looking forward to that and wondering how that is going to work. I've always drooled over some of those mods and wished I had the computer that could run the game plus mods.

PC Master Race is no more, I'll be getting this on my PS4 (Unless Bethesda and Sony don't work out their little mod issue)

Definitely an interesting choice to go with Skyrim, personally would rather see Morrowind or even Oblivion remastered, but can understand that doing a slight upgrade for Skyrim is more cost-effective than the work that would be needed for the latter two.

Hopefully this isn't just a graphics bump, but they actually take the time to work out some of the ongoing bugs for Skyrim to actually make this into something actually better instead of just looking prettier. I've seen some people be excited over it being in 64-bit, so would have access to more memory, but the original Skyrim actually did use more memory after an update that modified the game's executable.

One thing that I hope they do not bundle with is GameWorks, as that had a severe impact on AMD users with Fallout 4, so hopefully they will do some proper optimizations this time around and not just do what they did for Fallout 4.

Well in my case, since I had not played games in over 15 years, last year I bought a used PS3 for $99 because games are dirt cheap. Picked up Skyrim for $4! Still plays and looks great. Maybe in few years will get a used PS4 and remastered version with the extra DLCs that I don't have or play new version.
