His face is marked by a strong, chiseled jaw and deep-set eyes. His hair is cut very short in the style of a modern-military recruit, and he sports short stubble instead of a full beard. Among the many deep and winding scars set into Stryder's forearms are a number of other noticeable marks. Stryder has a thin scar running the length of the right side of his jaw, a massive black tattoo of a Dragon on his back, and an intricate tribal tattoo of two crossed swords behind a Lion's head on his right shoulder, the symbol of his tribe.
- GEAR -
Combat: Stryder is accustomed to combat on the sandy dunes of the desert. He fights with the sands, using them to conceal his figure until he is close enough to attack. Because of tactical choices, and the searing heat of the desert, Stryder wears very little that can be considered armor. During combat, he wears a light tan tunic with long sleeves. His pants are a light brown, and he wears a pair of light tan gloves. Stryder also wears a pair of tan boots and a tan, full-face wrap with a simple pair of goggles to protect his eyes from blowing sands. Stryder's gear is very lightweight to deal with the heat, and only serves to protect his skin from the suns rays. Stryder's combat attire is also his choice for casual wear when placed in the desert.
Casual Wear (Outside of Desert): Stryder sheds his tan tunic for a simple sleeveless gray tunic trimmed in tan, with a pair of black pants and a simple pair of black boots.
Other: Stryder has a simple, black necklace worn as a symbol of his combat prowess among his people.
Weapons: Stryder wields a simple black dual-bladed sword-staff for close-quarters combat, but also carries a number of small throwing knives tucked beneath one of the folds in his tunic, keeping them well out of view.
- PERSONALITY -
Stryder is calm and quiet, often choosing to listen rather than to speak. After years of living among the people of the desert and telling numberous lies to keep their whereabouts hidden, Stryder has developed the ability to conceal most emotions, however his eyes still betray him and a very observant person may be able to discern his true intentions. If Stryder does not perceive a persn as a threat and finds no reason to lie to them, he becomes kind and friendly, however rare an occurance that may be.
In combat, Stryder is level-headed and perceptive, most of his attention devoted to detecting faints outlines of enemies and straining to make out the soft sound of their movements. During an actual close-quarters fight, Stryder remains level-headed and adopts a cautious engagement style, searching for openings and weaknesses, while doing all he can not to show any of his.
- BACKSTORY -
Stryder was born to the quiet Arslan people of the desert, quickly learning their affinity for anonymity. These people have a long history where they lived among the other peoples of the world, sharing language, culture, and craft. It was many years ago that the Arslan were taken as thieves and "dirty-merchants" and the reclusive and shadowy people were quickly driven away.
Stryder was born into a small family of hunters and merchants, those choosing to brave the dangerous sands and deadly creatures hiding beneath, only to step into the even more dangerous lands of the cities, where superstition forces anyone marked with the symbol of the Arslan to be ridiculed and labeled as "thief."
Stryder was exposed to the hatred of his people at a young age as he struggled to make enough money to buy food, despite the rarity of the times he sold. He was turned away many times and given bad deals on many days. Once he grew strong enough, he took up arms to fight the deadly creatures the Arslan base their commerce from. During his first years as a hunter, Stryder became very well acquainted with death, especially the death of his father.
With an already weak link to his tribe, Stryder became detatched and irritable, until the day his mother passed and his connection to the Arslan was nearly severed.
With little connection and care for the people of the city, as well as his own, Stryder floats between the two which eventually gained him the name he now chooses to call himself by, Stryder.
Stryder's true name has been lost due to the passing of his family, and he disposed of his ties to them to help ease the pain of their loss.
