I play guitar, and I've begun a search for a good electric guitar and amp. I already have an acoustic that I am very happy with, but I know very little about what kind of electric guitar I should look for and what brand to get, the same can be said for amps.

I've located a guitar that I like, especially the feel of the frets and it's unique design, but I'm not sure if it's a good deal.

The guitar I've found is an Epiphone Flying V with double Gibson pickups. It looks something like this:

What do you think? Personal opinions are welcome, as well.

I have not found an amp, and I have no idea where to start.

If anyone has some advice, it would be greatly appreciated.

Most important thing I have found when I played the guitar for a short while is this: Being comfortable.

If you can play for long stretches at a time, then you're good to go. Although I think that goes without saying..

Next, your budget. How much is it? How much are you willing to spend? Is this an investment for the long term? (are you going to play it for years to come) Why are you buying it? Are you going to actually USE it?

Although those questions pretty much apply to pretty much EVERYTHING if you are budgeting wisely. Although let's be honest. Fudging a little and having a little fun time and spending money willy nilly is sometimes a good thing if it has a positive outcome.

Ultimately, it's up to you.

I'm very comfortable with it, and it's crazy smooth compared to my acoustic.

As far as budget and price, it's $300, but so was my acoustic, and I do plan to use it for many years to come.

If you already found a guitar that sounds, feels, and looks right for you. Then go for it. The one thing I would caution on flying Vs is that they can be a pain to play while sitting down.

I am a fan of Crate Amps. In my opinion a very good product for the price.

I don't mind sitting and playing the V.

Crate? Is that a brand?

Yes Crate is a brand.

As a drummer, I can tell you that you should go with the coolest-looking guitars. Looking out from beneath my drums, hardware and brass, I could sometimes catch glimpses of guitarists making their wonderful noise. The B.C. Rich Warlock was the most eye-catching of these tools. The dude that played that thing, he was a lot of fun to jam with.
