It's confirmed.
Bethesda said it themselves

"They said that, "The sixth installment to the open-world fantasy role-playing video game 'Elder Scrolls 6' will likely roll out to the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 in the first quarter of next year... there is a possibility that "Elder Scrolls 6: Argonia" will be officially announced and launched in the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) event to be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center on June 16 to 18, 2015," wrote Master Herald."

This whole statement is a mess.
June 2015 is over now, and even if they meant to type 2016 - it says earlier the game would roll out in the first quarter of next year, the first quarter of next year is January-March 2016 so they can't very well announce it June 2016. Or am I misinterpreting?
Anyways, 2016 is much too soon for ESVI I believe, 2018 seems more realistic according to Bethesda's statements. Sad but true.

You know even 2018 sounds early. Not that have any complaints of course, but that would mean they'd do it in 2 years. And considering the shortest gap was between Daggerfall a d Morrowind and it was 3 years...

Yes, good point. On one hand, perhaps the "tools" of game development (and the people using those tools) have become more efficient in terms of time, thus shortening the dev time, but on the other hand, you could argue that the increased technology and demand for "better" games means that the creation/dev timeline is much longer.

It will be interesting to see how it all works out, and a lesson in patience for all of us too as we wait.....and wait....... :)

I heard about that, and checked it out myself. I'm pretty sure it's slated to come out in 2018 (cause I remember groaning at the long wait time), but everything I saw pointed to the game being called "Redguard." However, that WAS a while ago... Either way, I still need to check out the DLC stuff for Skyrim.

Even if it's confirmed I highly doubt it will come out this year. Meanwhile we can still mod and play old TES games.

I would love a new one anyway.

Bethesda is very tight-lipped about this sort of thing. I think if Elder Scrolls 6 was confirmed, there would be no doubt in your mind, they would definitely make sure everyone knew about it. So yeah, it's safe to dismiss what you heard as just being a troll. Though I'm sure the game will come some day, perhaps after a couple more years.

2016? They said the next game wouldn't be out until at least 2020.

Looks like 2018, actually, yeh. As I posted above, here is a link to an article quoting Pete Hines (VP/Bethesda) and Todd Howard (Game Director) regarding the release of Fallout 4 and its impact on Elder Scrolls VI development.

The link within that link (6 months old) about Hines "Slamming" a 2016 or 2017 release doesn't work - i've heard rumors and rumors, but haven't seen anything concrete that anyone at Bethesda is saying, even in regards to 2018.

I heard that it was a hoax. However, I'd really love it to come out as soon as possible. It would be a great game and I think it would surpass all its ancestors. Glory to The Elder Scrolls VI!!

With Fallout 4 out of the way, it is likely we will get Elder Scrolls 6 by 2019 at the very latest (based on their previous development times and the massive demand due to the success of Skyrim), so it wouldn't be outrageous to assume we could be seeing a 2018 release with an announcement at the coming E3. I wish we could re-visit Cyrodil or even Skyrim, but I'm sure no matter which area of Tamriel they choose to set the game in will be a massive hit.

Either way. I cannot wait for Skyrim 2. In the meantime I will make do with skyrim modded to the extreme with my argonian mage messing up everything she meets.
