Nothing kinky, I promise.

Normally when I'm at home and there are other family members around, I play with headphones on. I'll normally have to listen out to pause the game, so I'll shift the right side behind my ear so I know what's going on inside the house. In comparison, I'll just roleplay that Ihylin is deaf in her right ear at times, for immersive purposes.

Or if I'm sitting my headphones in my lap, that she went partially deaf from an explosion and everything is a bit muffled. (My headphones are notoriously good at being miniature speakers.)

I've actually never played the game listening to headphones. I can imagine that if the quality was good enough, it'd be good for enriching the experience of immersion.

I've got good headphones, so the quality is pretty nice. My actually computer speakers are potato quality.

Alright, that's actually not that weird. Considering all of the crazy shi* people have done playing Skyrim

I've seen some shi*, man. I've seen some shi*

My room is oppiste my bathroom, my closet has a mirror on it which conveniently reflects the TV screen so I can still play whilst having a poop in the bathroom
That's actually really smart and efficient. Hory shet

I can actually hear the ambiance in dungeons with headphones. It is very unsettling when you're not used to it.

In all honesty, with the mods I have installed dungeons are creepy as hell and in game thunderstorms spook me when the thunder cracks. Because I don't know it's coming, it's just a massive "BOOM" right in my ear and I normally dropped my mouse and jump.

Headphones and Skyrim is amazing. I have a pair of turtle beach gaming headphones - unless it's a headset - with a mic. The game is so much more detailed now that I can hear it. Just walking around I noticed that there are birds singing and the foxes make noise when they move. Plus I can hear the bow stretch when it's pulled back or the ring of a blade as its swung. Actually, all of my games seem more well done with the headphones, most notably Garrus Vakarian's voice in Mass Effect, I never noticed the resonance Turians have when they speak, I thought they just sounded like regular humans.

Anyway headphones, or headsets, are great for gaming. But role-playing based on the position of your headphones is something I would have never thought of, I may have to try that.

Playing with headphones and definitely change the game for the better, I have to agree. It's actually kind of nice to hear the insects buzzing and birds singing just walking through Riverwood or the fire crackling in the braziers along the street. Bugs (glitches) or not, they put some decent thought into the ambient sounds.

I like the sounds of skyrim. Especially when exploring dungeons. I love it when I'm just waltzing through a dungeon, cutting down enemies, being so confident and all, when all of a sudden I heart this

"RAAAAEEEERRRRR"

followed by blood spatter and my character lurching forward (in first person mind you).

"Oh plops!"

followed by a quick 180 spin, followed by a

"HOLY fluff!"

With an undead fugly face right up against me with a huge greatsword. This is when speakers are at full blast mind you. I want to get headphones like these:

However I'll have to save up some pretty pennies to get it. Can't imagine the sound quality with these!

I only play with headphones. I don't think I've ever not had headphones on while playing. I guess it's mostly because I play at night, but it's also because I always have the headphones plugged in.

They really did a great job with the immersive sounds in the game. I would recommend people to play with headphones. You really get a better sense of the world you are playing in.

In my Khajiit characters house in Whiterun, I have a room that I have designated the cheese wheel room. Every cheese wheel I find when out exploring gets deposited here.

Why you ask? Well, I figured my Khajiit needed a dirty secret, so he has a secret cheese wheel collection.

Erm.. I steal from everyone. If I can't get away with it I either kill them or use the thieves guild option. Of course I'm always using a Khajit.

Imo I don't give a fluff about the sounds in the game. Gameplay matters more than anything.
The sounds make the game more immersive. You have to give it a chance lol. Get a good pair of headphones and crank that volume. You will be blown away.
