Sarif Industries is one of the leading human augmentation clinics in the world. Though the company is still comparatively small it's seen massive growth and market share in its life, thanks in no small part to its brilliant and shrewd CEO David Sarif. The company has already given the city of Detroit Michigan a better, brighter future and all of America and the rest of the world will soon follow. But Sarif Industries has fallen on hard times. One month ago a group of heavily armed and augmented mercenaries attacked Sarif Industries, killing dozens, destroying millions in equipment and property and destroying research that could change the world. The company's head scientist Megan Reed had discovered an extraordinary DNA sequence that could change the world forever. Her research, if correct, would enable the company to build a biochip completely indistinguishable from the human body. Glial tissue buildup would be nonexistant and neuroprozyne would become unnecessary. This discovery, scheduled to be presented in Washington D.C the very next day, embodied everything David Sarif and Sarif Industries have ever dreamed of. And now it's all been taken away. In a little over twenty minutes Megan, her team, their research and dozens of Sarif employees were all destroyed and Adam Jenson, the one man who tried to save them, is in critical condition. His body is being rebuilt from the ground up with the company's latest augments and won't be back in action for months. He will be reborn a powerful mix of man and machine but until he does the company is vulnerable. Many groups can smell blood and sense its weakness and they are ready to strike. If someone does not fill this void Sarif Industries will be destroyed and everything the company has worked for will be lost. You are one of the people to fill this void.
This is an RP in the Deus Ex: Human Revolution universe. It takes place during the six months between the prologue and the first mission and will flesh out some of this lost time. The cast will be a team of specialists hired by David Sarif to protect the company during this interim. There are all sorts of threats to the company, from another terrorist attack down to the employees trying to get all their work done after the loss of so many coworkers. As such, all sorts of characters are needed, not just more security. After all, it's the pencil pushers who do the real work.
Rules:
Standard RP rules apply. No godmodding, no overpowered characters, no insulting or attacking other members. Please keep language in the story to a minimum and don't go crazy with blood and gore. It says 18+ but minors might read this anyway.
There's no minimum or maximum limit for your characters to be augmented but keep in mind the above rules. If all of you have Jenson's augs with maximum praxis points like in your last New Game + run it won't be a very interesting RP.
Please be lore friendly with your characters and posts.
Please try and post once a week.
Please post in the OOC at least once a week to let us know you're alive if you can't post once a week. If you plan to be absent please let us know.
Please try and stay active. If people lose interest or wander off without telling anyone because they're bored the RP stops and will most likely die. This happens with every single RP I've been in here and I've been in dozens of them.
If this RP slows or stops at some point, and it most likely will, please don't assume it's dead. All of you make up this cast but I'm the creator and that means I'm responsible for this. RP's live and die based on the amount of effort the creator puts into them and nothing kills an RP faster than its creator showing no commitment. Some don't even get started because of this. On the other hand I've seen RP's go for years because of a strong creator, even if they slow to a crawl. I can promise you I will always be around and I will fully commit to this. Unless I specifically say "This RP is now dead" it will always be around and open. I hope that gives you a little faith.
Other than that, have fun. If you're not familiar with the lore that's okay. You can get caught up in about 20 minutes by watching a Let's Play on YouTube or reading a plot summary on the Deus Ex Wiki. I encourage you to do this if you like sci-fi and cyber punk but haven't played this game or have just played the original Deus Ex. Or that other one that will not be named in this thread. The Sequel That Must Not Be Named.
As for character cards the format is really up to you guys. Here's a suggestion template:
Name:
Age:
Gender:
Afflictions (If any):
Position in Sarif Industries: (Things like security, IT, manufacturing, research and development, administration, something like that.)
Appearance:
Personality:
Gear:
Clothing:
Augmentations (If applicable):
Work History:
Backstory: (Try and keep this brief. You don't need to write a book to tell us about your character. I'd much rather you show us who he, she, or they are through your writing.)
