OK, so last night i blew away my old game and started a new character. I'm going for more of a mage type, with some battle skills.

Race: Breton
Birthsign: The Mage
Specialization: Mage

I figured that it's not that tough to teach a mage to swing a sword (bound weapons to boot), and this way i can cast the mightiest of mighty spells towards the end.

I'm having fun already!

The mightiest spells are created by you. Just like enchanting works in Skyrim you only need to get one version of the spell to create your own so be sure that you get the cheapest if possible. Just be sure that you have the corresponding school leveled up enough for the strength of the spell that you want.

P.S. You may not need it but here's a link to how EXP gain works for the skills in Oblivion.

Thanks!

The one thing i miss from my other character are my super cool Sneaky Blue Suede Shoes. I will find another pair!

Up to level 7, figured i will stop at Magician in the Mage's guild for now.

Having fun forcing myself to be much more "magelike." Flash Bolt is my favorite spell currently, but had a blast with Fingers of the Mountain when i was just starting out.

Starting to find some cool light armor loot like the Kvatch armor.

I just love the Arcane University. Making and naming your own spells is so much fun. :beermug:

Now I'm going through the Fighter's Guild quests filling up my empty soul gems. Those beserk goblins are fun lol.

Haven't made any spells myself yet, but that's on the list.

p.s. - i figured out REAL quick to have some dispel potions on me! lol

Gregor had to go through a similar explanation with me when I started awhile back. I took his advice on my second character and it made a huge difference. :beermug:

I love Oblivion, and I'm on a break from it at the moment, I'll be getting back to it soon. I wish there were Aylied ruins in Skyrim to explore, as I became addicted to the ambiance and collecting varla stones. Does your copy have the Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isle expansions? Look into getting them if not. Very worth it if you enjoy the game as much as I do.

Oh! My PS3 version has Knights of the Nine built in. I know what I'm doing tonight! lol

It's cool that the armor/weapons will "level up" to my level after being put on the stand.

p.s. - I have Shivering Isles now too. $10.

Wow, really?! I was unaware of that! (the armor and weapons of the crusader releveling on the display stand). Mine are all at the lowest level because Knights of the Nine is pretty much the first thing I did with this character. Guess it's time for a visit to the Priory. :beermug:

(From UESPWiki) The Armor Stand in the room under the Priory of the Nine is actually much more than simply a display stand. Placing the Relics on it will recharge them, repair the items to 100% durability (even if they had been repaired to 125%, so you can use this as a free way of increasing your Armorer skill once you reach 75) and most importantly they convert the items into their level-appropriate variants, i.e. if you got the items at level 5, but are now level 25, placing them on the stand then removing them will mean you now have the level 21+ equivalents of the same items.

The levels are:
1-6
7-10
11-15
16-20
21+

OK, so i'm level 12 now. Mostly use spells to get plops done. I like my Shambles conjuration, he's just a cool dude to have around.

I'm also a member of:
Mages Guild
Fighters Guild
Thieves Guild
The Blades
Knights of the Nine (complete)
Knights of the Thorn
Nine Divines
Dark Brotherhood
Court of Madness
The Arena

Soooo i'm a well-rounded player lol.
