Is there any chance of me getting unbanned from the nexus?

I just found out I was banned, apparently for reporting a troll who told me to kill myself, and asking for instructions on how to manually install a mod that the plopsty mod manager couldn't handle. They apparently didn't ban me for like 2 or 3 months after I made that report. Yeah, lovely site.

I wouldn't mind this, except it means I can't aquire any more mods. Why in the living hell anyone would post their mod on that site is beyond me.

Looking through the ban forum, mostly the only people who ever got 'reinstated' were banned for pirating the game. Apparently they'll unban you if you get a legitimate copy. There was one other guy who was banned for criticizing a mod (he asked why this one character looked like a pornstar despite being homeless and destitute or something), but otherwise I can't seem to find too many instances of someone being unbanned.

If it matters, my ban was for 'filing false reports and being incompetent'. I did send an un-ban request, admitting I probably shouldn't blow up at people (I got a warning before on the forums after a troll decided to target me), and that I did manage to figure out how to install the mod on my own. But honestly I don't see there being much chance I can ever use mods again. And besides they claim that it takes them 'days' to decide to unban someone (I'm guessing they just said that to keep people from spamming the unban thread), and if they decide not to unban the person they just won't respond. Though I can kind of understand that, its still extremely rude.

I can understand taking my forum privaleges away. But banning me from using the only site where you can get mods, and without warning me before hand??? Note that I also received no notification of this banning. I was messing around with my settings trying to figure out why I couldn't access the site. It didn't tell me I was banned, I just kept getting a page saying something about failure to redirect or something. It wasn't until I looked at my profile on the forums that I found out that I had been banned.

And even if I do get back on, I certainly won't be talking to anyone anymore. And I told them that. But honestly I highly doubt I'll ever get to use mods again.

You can still access websites via Proxy, if you're not bothered about an account that was banned by people, then there are ways to access sites, masking your ip address.

All a ban is, is a block from your particular address, any other device that does not share the address, will be able to connect.

Never had to deal with nexus, because I'm not a pc gamer, however the administrators seem to be a bit oversensitive in addition to having a poor appeal procedure.

Your best bet in the future is to avoid posting there, just get mods and avoid saying anything, apparantly even questioning bans can get you a ban.

Look up Proxy, there are software dedicated to masking your ip.

It's funny how so many of these online resources are moving in the "Ultimate PC" direction.

Recently, apparently, there have been similar issues with ESO. Of course, they've had to reinstate gaming privileges due to the fact that you purchased the game itself, but they have been blocking IP addresses and user names. Apparently it's on the console side, but, still, I find it odd.

BTW: If any of you get the chance, try checking out the ESO forum run by ZoS. It is a hilariously PC thing with an incredibly hypocritical bent. Yes, you can be as insulting and horrible as you want, as long as you couch it in "opinion", but, Lord knows, don't use any humor or even think about talking about something that isn't strictly ESO related.

Sheesh. I'd rather deal with the real viciousness on Reddit or FAQ. Those are, at least, honest.

As the first poster told you - just try anything to hide your IP address (proxy being the easiest method) and make a new account. And yeah, Nexus is known to be handled by douchbags.

Isn't Bethesda going to have their own mod sharing site now games?

My understanding on what I've heard of Nexus is not to interact with anyone.

They've had workshop for a while, but virtually no one uses it. For whatever reason everyone only uploads their mods to the nexus. And even if they do have it on workshop, they tend to remove it. I had frostfall for months, then the creator decided to remove it so it was only on the nexus, which is the sole reason why I was forced to start using the site, so I could continue using a mod I was already attatched to.

Is that their new thing? I wasn't sure it was done yet, as they're creating something that will allow next gen consoles to download mods for their games.

I think its safe to say I'm not going to get unbanned.

I have thought about changing my ip address and making a new account. But I didn't want to try that until I saw if they would actually be merciful to me. Obviously, they're not going to. And my ban thread btw, was made by the infamous vampire dante.

Well... You're always welcome to join us here! I'm sure we've got enough PC members to help get any workarounds you might need and we always appreciate new folks too. :)

Ugh... not another Nexus victim. I swear, those babies get their kicks by kicking puppies on a daily basis. While drinking kool-aid I betcha.

Anyway, sorry about what happened. :/ That site isn't well managed to be sure. If they were a real company, they would be shut down faster than you can say, "Oh snap, angry customer!" and get looted by angry mobsters in revenge for their plopsty services.

I lurk on there and I NEVER go onto the forums. I just get my mods, download, and puff, gone until another time. If I have problem with the mod, I uninstall and move on. Others can report issues if need be if they have the same problem.

Most of us can tell you all about the mods on there as well as the Steam Workshop (though I don't think many of us use it). I'm a console gamer myself but soon will have an upgraded/custom built PC in which to play higher end games off of. Only so much Total War and Warband I can take before I pull my hair out in boredom. Yes, I said boredom. Monster Hunter 3 and Skyrim is saving me from insanity, along with my 9-5 day job.

ANYWAY, even those of us who are NOT PC gamers, do know a lot of mods. In fact quite a few of us watch many youtube channels dedicated to mods and showcasing. Some of which we have many mods memorized and imprinted in our brains because they are just too awesome for anyone else to pass up so we mention them. :p

So even though we aren't on Nexus... we know our mods. ;) Most of us anyway.. :p

Welcome to the forums, please enjoy your stay! And yes, we will not act like douches. We love helping each other and newcomers. We're like a little family here...

A very... special family. ;)

I'm actually subscribed to brodual. I also used to watch gopher, back when he did skyrim mods.

And I have oddly enough downloaded a couple mods (you can download mods without an account, as long as its smaller than 2 mb). I can't get inconsequential npcs, though honestly I'm not sure if my comp could handle it. I do have markarth rising now and jk's whiterun. Going to see what impact they have on my performance before I get anymore of these city mods. I've also never really tested etac, which is the last mod I downloaded before I was banned. Really need to test it out.

As for why I didn't, got locked in a room with a boss that I could not defeat. I don't know why the stupid game gives you quests when your 10-20 levels too low to do them. Now, I'm locked in a room (and no, I can't pick the lock) against a guy that can one-shot me from full health with a single spell. And my attacks don't even make a noticable dent on his hp, even though I'm wielding op weapons that came with my hunterborn mod.

This time, I'll probably just make a nord warrior and do the main quest again. I downloaded deadly dragons but never got around to actually testing it out. Really need to do that.

It kind of defeats the feeling of accomplishment, but you don't have to start over. Just use console commands. I'm sure if you search around you can find the 'kill command' or the 'god mode'.

But again, it takes away that feeling of accomplishment. Unless you roleplay that your character got really fed up with the adversary, went hulk, and beat the absolute crap out of him without even slowing down after taking lots of hits. (god mode)

Or yeah, start over. Sometimes it's nice to start out fresh. And yes, Brodual and Gopher (back in the day at least, he took a break from mods, yes) have pretty good showcasings/catalogs.

Anyway, have fun! :)

Nexus is awesome, but apparently your a flamer -- after all "...admitting I probably shouldn't blow up at people..." is a good start. Don't take everything so personally. In the mean time, enjoy the hell of the steam workshop.

If I was banned for a non legitimate reason and not talked to about it first, unlike here I'm sure the mods or admins would talk to you first about behavior or a post that wasn't within 'terms and rules', then I myself would be ticked and perhaps even blow up a little. Heck after I watch a mod video and then look at the comments I see at least 10 people complain about nexus and being banned for bad reasons, even go so far as to try to talk to the managers or admins and work it out in a civil manner. To no avail, might I add.

If I was in his shoes, I would be very confused and try hard not to take it personally. After all, doesn't take half a brain to figure out why to ban someone for a legit reason. And this was a legit reason in which to report a threat or insult (Apparently someone told the Original Poster to 'Kill himself'.) and to NOT be banned. On top of it they did the ban 2 to 3 months afterward. If that happened here, the guy that said the threat would probably have his arse jumped by a lot of members. Yes, he did get a warning for 'blowing up' once before, but to have someone tell you to kill yourself even in a joking manner, especially if it's not relevant to the topic at hand, IS NOT OK.

I don't know about you, but that's just crap service right there. 2 to 3 months to look at the report, and instead of looking thoroughly into it or talking it out (I'm assuming), they do a ban. Also the reason in doing so was filing "false reports and being incompetent". Wow. If I was in charge those idiots would have their asses beat. If Facebook can be polite and say, "there is nothing wrong with the post/picture/video that you reported, as it was in our guidelines and rules. Thank you for helping the community!".. Then so can they. Not that hard.

Yeah, I hope those jerks don't have a job. Because for a customer/consumer sake, I'm sure they raise a LOT OF HELL, in the workplace.

I don't mean to shoot back at you Pete, but I see, or rather WE ALL SEE, these stories so many times it's ridiculous. I wish--if it were possible--someone to buy out that site, ban all the admins and moderators, and recast/rehire people that are actually competent and care about the site. That, AND IT'S MEMBERS. You would think they would understand this concept by now with all these complaints but they just DON'T, GIVE, A CRAP. And that's not a way to run things. Especially if people are limited to signing up and downloading things. They depend on that site for their products, or in this case mods. 'Nuff said.

If you stick to constructive criticism and avoid lashing out, then you will never run into an issue on the Nexus. I know there have been unwarranted bans in the past, but in my little Skyrim modding community there is almost always a bit more to the story that comes out after a little prodding. I've been using the nexus for a VERY long time and have no fears or qualms about talking about my issues with mods on the nexus.

Also, just proxy in there and get your mods! There are also other sites to get your mods from. You can download any archived file and open it with MO/NMM and install it with a manager just like any other mod. I do this all the time with mods downloaded from the nexus to get specific esps, patches, and textures/meshes. Manually download, open the .rar or .7z select .esp or patch, extract somewhere, re-pack as .rar, install with manager.
