There is a confusion about the Caller quest and the black hooded robes. The blocked off part is ONLY accessible during said quest. After and before, it is blocked off. Period.

There is another way to obtain the robes, but you must join the Dawnguard. There are quests and instances when walking in a city where will be a vampire that has a full set of vampire equipment plus the black hooded robes.

Only other way to obtain them is through console commands. There may be other ways but I either forgot them or have not heard of them. :/ Sorry man.

You mean you don't find them as random loot or on the occasional encounter? I certainly do. Currently, my Orc warrior has 4 of them in his inventory chest for use when he does go full mage in a little bit.

We are talking about the 150% Hooded Black Mage robes, yes?

No, we are not.

The unenchanted version I have never gotten from drops from enemies aside from the obvious ones mentioned. The ENCHANTED ones, yes. ;)

I'm sorry. I guess I'm just lucky then.

I agree. I have never gotten the unenchanted ones in a drop. I do find them occasionally in a wardrobe or cabinet while I'm exploring, but it's not regular. Personally I like the blue ones if I'm going to do some enchanting. They match my eyes. :)

During my current playthrough of the Dawnguard DLC, my character has gotten like 4 pairs of unenchanted hooded black mage robes off of the vampire dude named Traveler that appears randomly (I think?) in cities. For me he's appeared really often, but that may also be due in part to my characters high level. She's at 62 as of the day before yesterday. If I could I'd totally give you some, Kohlar. :/ My character doesn't exactly need them. Honestly your best bet would probably be to join the Dawnguard and fast travel around to cities until Traveler appears. That's my two cents.

Uh, this isn't going to end well. We're walking in circles now... Kohlar, you're playing the PS3 version of Skyrim, right? If yes, I can give you a workaround. just send me a pm :)

What you could do is level up a bit, grab an enchanted set from a high level Mage. At higher levels they'll have robes that are around Master level destruction or alteration etc. Something like 25%+ cost reduction + magic regen.

Now go and grab dunmer shoes on Solstheim. They're glitched in the fact they only take "chest" enchantments, so you can place whatever enchantments you wanted on the robes.

It is what I tend to do when I want to wear hooded Mythic Dawn robes or Telvanni robes on a Mage character.

Crap, I forgot about those dunmer shoes! Good one mage. :)

I didn't know this! Where on Solstheim could I find a pair of Dunmer shoes? I'd like to try this.

I believe you can get them by doing the quests around Raven Rock uncovering the conspiracy to kill the Redoran leader (looting the corpse of a dunmer you kill). Or there might be a pair in some dungeon on Solstheim.

I found you can find black hooded robes doing azuras questline. Going into the star you are attacked by malyn varens soul, and if you loot him he's wearing black hooded robes, I know its a bit late but when I discovered this I remembered this post and thought "better late than never".

Good catch, but the OP was looking for the unenchanted version. According to the wiki, Malyn Varen wears the Hooded Black Mage Robes, which have an enchantment of +75% Magicka Regen.

Yeah but if you get the 2nd enchantment perk you can use whatever else you'd like. If going mage for a while you can always use a magicka regeneration. Then use a destruction cost ?% less or whatever fits the character.

As far as I know you cannot enchant something that is already enchanted, even with the Double Enchant perk.

If that's what you're saying anyway.

I do find it amusing how long this thread has kept going. It's clear we all want to give Kohlar a full closet of hooded black robes.

edit: Hunting down specific items like this reminds me of trying to track down the full Imperial helms. On my first character ever I had three or four of them; and when I wanted to find them a second time, I had no idea where they came from. Turned out there are only like four locations for them and took quite a bit of diligence to solve the mystery.
