Today, I created a new character. A Redguard, which is a first to me, and specialized in double wielding swords(another first to me, though I have used dual daggers).

When the Helgen catastrophe happened, I decided to completely ignore both Ralof and Hagbar, the only interaction I had with them was to get my handcuffs off and then I flew like the wind out of that placeplace.

Upon exiting I decided to finally enter that mine you encounter during your way to Riverwood(I think it's called embershard mine or something like that?), yet another first to me, you'd be surprised, it's a very interesting mine.

And after that, guess what, I did not retrieve the golden claw.

So basically, I've broken all the things that I consider must-do when creating a character, and I love it.

Anyone else has ever decided to break its own rules?

Oh yeah, I've never done the main quest, but I meant, like setting g a set of things you usually do when you create a new character and one day deciding to just flff it all.

Yeah that's where I left it. Unlike Oblivion, in which the main story was the thing that sucked me in the most, Skyrim's main questline has never seems that much interesting to me. One of this days I'll do it though.

Mmm yea Skyrim doesn't really have a good plot compared to say, Morrowind or Oblivion, but I always do it just to open up more of the world and get the goodies. Main Quest is usually the last thing I do.

This time intend to fully develop my character before engaging "Diplomatic Immunity," (the Thalmor party).

I will shatter them all with shouts. :beermug:

Hmm I can't think that I have. Unless you count skipping the bandit camp south of the exit of Helgen... Or is it in another direction? But I only skipped it and the mine because I decide to follow Hadvar. Which is something I rarely do.

AH! It occurred to me last night another way that this playthrough will be different. For once, I will NOT pick up an unusual gem. All other characters, even if I knew I'd have nothing to do with the Thieves Guild, has at least a few of these things clogging up their inventory. It's been difficult to resist, but I've already passed on several of them. :beermug:

Good job there, I've never been able to resist temptation. I always think:"I'm sure they'll be useful at some point"

DON'T EXPECT SPOILER WARNINGS FROM ME
Hmph, breaking ur rules, HUH. Lemme tell ya my story. How would u feel if the GAME broke YOUR rules?? HUH, HUH??? Never thought that that way, did ya?
Well, I was playing my most hard-core role playing char. He's a stormcloack, no fast travel, no joining the college, all ways having 2 bottles of nord mead, no more than 24 steel arrows, wearing only stormcloack armor, etc.
So, I decided to join companions. And quess what my first quest was as a hired muscle? It was to beat up that librarian in the college!!! SRSLY? A quest that opposes my role play style??? That frustration -.-. So i had to reload back to stage of speakin with harbinger. Than, the pinnacle of my frustration. I brought shield to aela, BUT SKJOR WASNT THERE, so farkas didnt come. Lets go again. And finaly, in the end , i didnt accept job from farkas, cuz he was in love with that librarian. Thats my story.

I don't know what's wrong with me, but every time I see this topic heading, I think of the Tenacious D song Karate.

"You broke the rules
Now I pull out all your pubic hair."

I am only just doing Dawnguard from the side of the Volkihar as evil characters are never something I have been able to do. She is also my first vampire character and the first one who has not resented Hermy. I kind of miss Hermy laughing at my delusions of escaping the Master of Fate though. He has some hilarious lines if you get his Oghma Infinitum, take the rude dialogue options and then do Dragonborn.
