Kohlar the Unkilled

Time for some ale
I took it upon myself to join another Skyrim forum, (actually, Skyrim and The Elder Scrolls are subforums, as are all other Bethesda games...), as it seemed rather active. There were some good topics going, with much Oblivion talk, so I decided to introduce myself. I couldn't find an "introductions" forum like we have here, (and is fairly standard else where..), so I just started my own intro topic in their "Elder Scrolls Series Discussion" forum.

Everything was going well as I got a few welcomes, but then later on, I found my thread LOCKED. At first I imagined that some form of offensive argument must've somehow been generated from something I, or someone else had said there. After all, in my experience threads only get locked when they get WAY out of hand... Upon investigation though, a moderator came in to point out that I must have missed their introductions thread in the community discussion forum, that I should copy my original post into it. He provided a link, and LOCKED my thread! This mod uses a Jagar Tharn avatar, and indeed, displayed almost as much hospitality as Tharn himself would've. At least he's true to character.

So I clicked on the link. What I found was an introduction thread. Everyone is to introduce themselves in this one thread, and no one is supposed to reply to any introductions!! What kind of Aldmeri Dominion operation is this place?! So I say... no thank you Beth. I prefer the wild, lawless frontier that is skyrimforum.com! :beermug:

Okay, an introduction thread without people replying and giving welcomes does not sound very cozy.

That really sounds dictatorlike. I mean, come on, you're supposed to be replied! How else are you supposed to know wether you're welcome or not.

Agreed. Some forums just don't know how to find that balance. Maybe you don't want a mess, but forcing people to toe the line tends to make the forum feel more like work than play, and then nobody can seem to figure out why numbers are down.

Indeed, and I haven't been back, even though it seemed pretty active. To lock my thread, preventing further welcomes... what's the point? What good possibly comes from it? Probably just some kid taking his position as moderator way too seriously.

And to have an introduction thread that nobody can respond to... what the hell is the point of even posting to it if no discussion can be generated??

So.. if I understand correctly.. You were cheating on us with another forum? Unacceptable

Here we are, providing company and whatnot, and you run of to some other place.. I'm disappointed
